PIT files for all US SGS3's - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Downloads here: http://invisiblek.chickenkiller.com/pits/
Everything below this line is for historical significance, I've acquired what is needed here. Thanks!
==================================================================================
Hey guys, I'm from the VZW version of the device, but I'm trying to accumulate all of the PITs for each variant since they are all signed, they are all different. I'm doing this just in case they are needed by someone in the future, we won't have to scramble to find one.
Its quite a simple process, just need one command run from a root shell (adb or terminal emulator) then an upload of the file.
Command to run:
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/out.pit bs=8 count=481 skip=2176
You may upload /sdcard/out.pit to dropbox, mediafire, whatever.
I need a 32gb PIT. You may respond here or PM me, please include what size phone you have.
Thanks in advance!
FYI: A PIT is a partition information table, it basically tells Odin where to put things when you flash.

Pm'd you the 16gb

You can post here in the thread too, nothing is specific to your device or anything like that, no security risks here.

Weird. I know I hit submit....oh well. Here is the 16gb T999 pit file.

You will need to unzip it.
Tried to attach it here but I'm on my phone and it wouldn't let me.

No worries, link in the OP with all the PITs I've gathered so far
Just missing the T-Mo 32gb and US Cellular

Cool! I completely missed that link!
Anyway, the other two are here, just a matter of getting them to come out and play!
Glad I could help btw.

Do you still need the T-Mobile 32GB image?

T-Mobile T999 w/32GB file for you
Attached to this post is the pit file you asked for zipped.
I am running a Stock T-Mobile T999 32GB (IMM76D.T999UVALEM) with updated radio (T999UVLH2). The phone is rooted and partially de-bloated. Triangle Killer has been run.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Yes, a little, but I lol'ed. But I thought that pit files would be pushed out by Samsung, like tar files. We can spit out our own pit files to reuse with Odin later if our partition tables get messed up?

I've not seen any come from Samsung, so I figured we could pull them from our devices and make our own collection.
Yes, it would help if partitions get messed up (although if that happens, you might be in worse shape than just needing a PIT.
A 32gb VZW user bricked his phone and got it JTAG'd back to life, but the person who JTAG'd it only had a 16gb image. So the partitions were messed up and he didn't have the full 32gb of space.
He was able to flash with the PIT from my 32gb VZW SGS3 and then flash a ROM and got all his space back.

Hey there I ran the line of code in the OP in a root shell in ADB and this file Ive attached is what it spit out. Its from a Rogers 16gb I747M. Hope you can make more out of it then me!! Have fun

I want to thank everybody involved in this project for the pit files :good:
Does somebody have "a working" T999 32Gb pit?
I tried the one posted on here but right away I knew it was not going to work ...all the other pits are 3-4 kb in size, the T999 32Gb is 240kb or am I missing something?
Before I get the " you shouldn't be using a pit..." I am trying to fix a 32Gb T999 that was Jtagged and was partitioned at some point with a 16Gb pit.
Thanks in advance!

This is amazing. We now have PIT files for the OG S3.
Now if we can get the LTE Version of the S3 TMo.
THIS should be stickied or something.
PIT Files are an underdog life saver. Just like what Invisiblek just said, lost his other 16 GB space, but with his PIT file, bam, back all of that 32GB.
BUMP!!!

I already have it if someone needs it.

Hey Doc,
Did you say you happen to have the S3 T999 32Gb pit?
I think the one on here was extracted with the wrong shell commands...so it's not going to work.
I tried modifying a 16Gb pit with pit magic but that didn't work either because I believe they are "signed" pits and pit magic trims off the signature.
Thanks!!

There is no pit file for our phone to Odin. It might be embedded in the tar.md5 file we use in PDA in Odin.

So technically then i can check re-partition and it should re-partition the internal memory? I hate these internal memories on samsungs its pretty easy to corrupt
Anyone got any ideas as to what i can do?... I got the phone like this

Try within the actual Android OS. Put it in your Sensation, go to storage, unmount it, then format it.

Yes... It will work with Jellybean. This method does not install a prerooted image tar. So it will root whatever Is on your phone without any regard. It simply installs custom recovery and root.

Sorry, this is for the at&t galaxy s3. This guide was originally written for the Sprint but I replaced CWM 6.0.1.2 with 6.0.1.4 to make it compatible with the at&t. The rest is identical. I thought I had cleaned up the guide. I guess I missed a few references. I will clean it up after work tonight to get rid of any confusion. Thanks very much for the heads up...

Sorry I don't have a Mac. I only know that you need a program called hiemdall. Don't even know if you use the same files. I can't in good conscience, put out a guide completely blind.
Skunk Ape1 said:

Yes and no - you need to extract the individual files from the .tar image in order to use the image with Heimdall. Unfortunately, not having gone through the entire process myself in that fashion, I can't really comment on which files match up with which Heimdall options, though I may look more in detail into that at a later date.
No worries Skunk Ape1. I just haven't been able to find a guide for 4.1.1 on mac.
smelenchuk if you do please let me know your findings! Thanks man
RC great work here, worthy of a sticky, so Stuck and Thank you.
Okay, I've taken the time to tinker with Heimdall a bit to get the partition identifiers from my own phone (which matches up from the info from this old thread), and have put together the following, which seems to work for me. This was with Heimdall 1.4-rc1; I think earlier versions don't accept numeric identifiers.
You'd probably better have a plan on hand to get things back to normal if this doesn't work (I'm not responsible for your bricking your own device if this doesn't work).
You'll need to extract the .tar image before using this; if you're at a command line,
Code:
tar xf <image>.tar
should suffice to do that. You'll end up with the following files:
Code:
aboot.mbn
boot.img
cache.img.ext4
NON-HLOS.bin
recovery.img
rpm.mbn
sbl2.mbn
sbl3.mbn
system.img.ext4
tz.mbn
Afterwards, boot your phone into download mode (from a powered-down phone, Vol Down + Home + Power Button until you see the Samsung logo) and make sure you're completely ready and have backups and all before you run the following (I'm not going to be held responsible for you bricking your own phone and being unable to recover from it afterwards):
Code:
heimdall flash --1 NON-HLOS.bin --3 sbl2.mbn --4 sbl3.mbn --5 aboot.mbn --6 rpm.mbn --7 boot.img --8 tz.mbn --14 system.img.ext4 --17 cache.img.ext4 --18 recovery.img
You should be able to get away with flashing only some of those images instead of all of them (in particular, if you have a third party recovery from somewhere, you might want to omit the recovery image); that said, if you're only flashing some of the specified images as opposed to all of them, I'm almost certain it will trip the flash counter. (I don't know if flashing *everything* will trip the flash counter or not, though, seeing as I deliberately did not flash the recovery during my own test for ease of restoring my phone to its normal happy state.)
Already hit the thanks button once, but wanted to formally thank you for this super easy root/recovery guide! Less than 5 minutes and done! Thank you!

[FOR DEVS] AT&T SGS4 SGH-I337 PIT file

This is for development purposes only and should not be used without knowing exactly what you are doing. I take no responsibility for your phone impregnating your wife or your mother by you using this.
Seems people want this - but no one has posted.
If you need a return the return to stock ODIN files you can visit AdamOutler's thread.
I downloaded this file directly from a stock, un-rooted, bootloader-locked AT&T SGH-I337 SGS4 utilizing Heimdall 1.4. Use at your own risk.
NOTE: You MUST remove the .txt extension from the filename. This is the actual PIT downloaded via Heimdall but in order to upload as an attachment to XDA I had to add the .txt extension.
ANOTHER NOTE: there is a possibility this will not work for you due to potential signing issues. YMMV

Ok, thank you. If it is like other phones have been, using the 16GB Pit file one a 32GB phone will at best get you a 16GB internal memory phone that started out 32GB...unless they partition internal memory different now.
Hello,
Thank you for posting this file.
I recently got myself in a jam by flashing a galaxy s3 rom to my s4.
I am looking for a pit file to replace the stock partitions, but your file got blocked by my stock recovery.
Secure File Check: PIT
Followed by an Odin Fail.
When you were using Heimdall, was it able to push the file past that download mode secure check?
Thank you for your time.
Wont let me change it to a pit file. There is no way to take out the txt.
Looks like this isn't working for everyone. Closing the thread

[GUIDE] How to Unbrick your AT&T S4 I337 OTA UCUAMF3

With me not reading about Samsung latest OTA locked bootloader , I rooted my phone, installed TWRP and updated SU, them I am stuck at a soft brick at the download mod, I have tried every possible way with ODIN to no luck, I always kept booting to the damn download mod, then accidentally I was able to flash this pit file to bypass the stuck download mod and was able to boot normally
All you need is ODIN and the attached pit file,
1. Download attached file and unzip it
2. Run ODIN
3. Click on pit
4. Loacate the unziped SGS-I337_16GB.pit file and load it
5. Click start, phone will reboot when when compelete
6. Done
Thought to share my findings

This is interesting. Is the PIT file you linked a "signed" PIT file?
The reason I am asking is because the PIT file listed in this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2323019&highlight=pit
...appears to not be signed and I think people had trouble flashing it through ODIN because it was not signed.
The size of the PIT file in the thread I linked and the PIT file in your post is different so it definitely appears to be a different PIT file.
Where did you get the PIT file from in your post? Was it pulled from a device running MF3 firmware?
Also, people should be aware both PIT files are for 16GB phones. It says so in the file name, but it's worth an extra mention just the same.
Thank, and it will be interesting to find out more information about this.

The reason i am asking is because I think people have tried to use the PIT file (the one I linked above) with ODIN, and although ODIN reported it as successfully flashing, it actually did not flash. Of course, the PIT file I linked above couldn't have been from MF3 (it wasn't released at the time of that post), but I was wondering if it was a signing issue with the PIT file that kept it from actually flashing, and if not, what would be the difference between the PIT file posted by the OP and the PIT file that is in the thread I linked (other than being pulled from different firmwares)?
It is my understanding (I might be wrong here), that flashing a PIT file via ODIN to a phone would erase all partition information including ROM, KERNEL, and boot partitions. Without this information (in this case a MF3 TAR file) being flashed through ODIN directly after a successful PIT file flash, how could the phone successfully boot back up into MF3? And we all know an ODIN flashable MF3 TAR does not yet exist.

As much as I would like to see it work, I don't think it would be a good idea.
A. If the OP was on MF3, how did he even attempt to install TWRP as was stated?
B. (I mentioned this in one of my lasts posts in this thread) If the PIT fil actually has flashed successfully, how would any information (other than partition information) remain on his phone? Wouldn't the PIT file wipe it completely...requiring the OP to immediately flash a firmware TAR file...which does not exist yet for MF3?
Something either is very right with this (a breakthrough) or is very wrong with this.

I am theorizing (just a theory) that the PIT file actually did not flash through ODIN. It reported as flashing correctly (successful), but as others have experienced, it was a false positive and didn't really flash. I am guessing the OP's phone started to work because of the method ODIN used to reboot the phone somehow bypassed the bootloop caused by trying to put TWRP onto MF3. I have seen a couple of recent posts where people were able to boot their phones by somehow getting into recovery and canceling a certain operation out ( I'm not sure which), causing the phone (that was in a previous bootloop) to start booting correctly.
I hope it is a break through as well, but I am leaning towards my explanation (or one close to it) as the reason for the OP's success.

I hope it is a break through as well, but I am leaning towards my explanation (or one close to it) as the reason for the OP's success.

ya, wiping cache in stock recovery, will kick the phone out of bootloop

And here is another example of someone getting out of a bootloop through Download (ODIN) mode:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44433724&postcount=11
Possibly, Odin triggered a similar reaction.
Actually, the original thread i pulled that post out of sounds very similar to what happened to the OP in this post.
Take a look at the OP of this post to see what I mean:

So, I think my theory is correct. The PIT file never actually flashed, it was the interaction between ODIN and D/L mode that overcame the bootloop.
But hey, feel free to keep messing around with the PIT file because you never know...
I wonder where op went...

Sorry if this off topic but what's stopping someone from wiping the bootloader partition and flashing the MDL firmware?
I'm not sure if this would be done via a PIT file, ADB script or some other method but in general isn't this the path of last resistance for achieving root/bootloader access?

Nk2 NON-HLOS.bin and modem.bin Odin flashable for MDL bootloader

Let me start by saying I am not a Dev and only did this for my own knowledge and to offer this info to those who would find it useful. If you do anything as a result of this thread I am not responsible and you did it at your own risk. I will offer as much help as I am able but it won't be much for as I stated earlier I am not a Dev and my knowledge is limited. I also have a full time job and a family so time can be an issue but I'll help whenever I can. I encourage others to help whenever possible and will not feel as though my toes are being stepped on so feel free to have discussions as long as they fit the topic.
All that being said. Here we go. This is tested on my T-Mobile s4 m919 jfltetmo using Odin 3.07 on windows 7 32 bit vbox setup. The method described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544612 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678774
As usual make a backup first just in case!Providing you meet all the prerequisites and download appropriate files (See below for link to nk2 modems) you will start at step 3. At step 4 disregard the file they use and use mine since mine are the nk2 modems. I only include the NON-HLOS.bin file as reference but if you are on MDL boot loader DO NOT FLASH THIS! I have not done it myself and can't even tell you what it will do. I myself am on the MDL boot loader (not sure if it's good or bad at this point but I have no issues yet) and have only flashed the modem.bin file through Odin. Make sure to repeat the process twice! I repeat. MAKE SURE YOU FLASH modem.bin IN ODIN TWICE!!! Previously people have had issues with the older modems not sticking the first time so I've always done it twice as was recommended somewhere else I can't remember?
The goodies:
Modem.bin: https://mega.co.nz/#!J8gWUTQK!Dpr1l6Qy57KmWRmJ_njB2cNDI8TITgMXU7P9aBSB8rA
NON-HLOS.bin: https://mega.co.nz/#!g5J3xIgC!FJtSmff8h7tFP7aq0I3utHjZEhTsh5fMQI9OoRrlmpQ
Thanks to shiamatsu for his original threads. Also thanks to shinyside for his firmware thread.
Good luck and if you are pleased, hit the thanks button on the way out. :good:

I've tried to bump my baseband up to NK2 twice now and it still says I'm on NH7.

To anyone watching the thread I am getting choppy music streaming through google play music app ATM. I have switched Roms also from aospa 4.6 beta 5 kk ROM to the gpe 5.0 LP ROM since flashing gsm modem so not sure yet if ROM issue or if my hybrid MDL bl/LTE modem and nk2 gsm modem is starting to be a problem? I've had no problems like this to date with mismatched modems so will have to see how it goes? Anyone with info feel free to chime in.
edit: gpe kernel issue disregard

I'm familiar with Odin and baseband flashing. I didn't do anything different than I've done before. Are you sure that you didn't upload NH7 instead of NK2 by accident?

I suppose that is possible? I'm not able to check until I get home tonight unfortunately. I really hope I didn't do that for my own embarrassment sake but it would be the most likely and easy solution to your problem? if so sorry I wasted your time? If someone else attempts before I get home we'll know for sure then. We'll see?

I think you are correct? Not 100% positive but I just downloaded and extracted the nh7 modems and the one I posted is the exact same size. :banghead: dammit! I'll pull the links and replace them tonight. Sorry man.

OK you have failed your first shot at becoming a developer, now your account and post's will be transferred to the Winnie Hut Jr. forums for the iconic Etcha-Scetch . There you will master the technique of extracting modems, forever, forever, forever, etc. :banghead: good luck.
Lol. :sly::sly: lol.
Just kidding, we are humans, mistakes will happen. (just don't brick)

No biggie, man. We all make a mistake like that every now and then.
should be good to go now. I re-extracted everything from nk2 firmware and made sure to not even navigate away from the folder before uploading. *fingers crossed* If anyone still has trouble i can upload the exact tarball I took these from but it should work since this is the exact firmware file I pulled from to odin my phone to nk2.

I've seen no difference good or bad myself. Can't speak for anyone else though? I'd be interested in knowing myself? I only update to stay up to date as much as possible minus my MDL bootloader lte modem.
it works thanks
the NON-HLOS.bin is not necessary?
i was on nh7

That's correct as long as you are on MDL boot loader still AFAIK? There are some threads tagged with the older modem names where its discussed in length and that was always the standard. I've never flashed the NON-HLOS modem.
