Sprint releasing ota of fh13 today - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/465096?tstart=0
This is an official update from Sprint for fh13. Says it fixes battery issues. Anyone know what the (M4) means, is this the fourth build of fh13?

MR 4 means Maintenance Release 4.
It's their 4th maintenance release for the phone.
I think it went EL26 -> EL29 -> FF18 -> FH13. were all OTAs

Was expecting this since they added FH13 to the open source page this morning as mentioned over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30559316&postcount=202

FH13 fixed my ICS battery problems..... not sure about anyone else. I had almost 4 hours of screen time yesterday before it died.

Will I have to take the ff18 ota to get this? Or will it be a full ota

I used to know the answer to this but I'm getting old and tired....if I have the FF18 odin OC installed and I de-rooted using AutoRoot, will I still get the OTA message?

As long as the "core" apps are in place and all you did was root, according to the sfhubs threads with one clicks, you'll get the ota.
That being said - being rooted alone, people have failed at getting ota pushes.
If you really want ota, best bet is to go back stock and unless anyone can say different, that means going back to ek02..
(My 2 cents..)

Silly question considering the battery issues but the last ICS seemed to break scrolling on the live wallpapers.
Any word how this lCS update is handling live wallpapers?

Actually, Live Wallpapers used to scroll left and right when moving through home screens. Samsung removed that feature a couple of updates back. I think a certain fruity company says they own the patent or something. They seem to own everything else.

OTA ICS update Epic Touch 4g on Boost

Just received the ICS update prompt. Is it safe to do so being on Boost?
So you are a boost customer and got ics ota notification? That can't be bad.

Yes on boost service and received ota ics notification update.
What build?

Im not familiar with the process to flash to boost but whats even better is you guys now have ICS rom leaks specific to boost now
Not a boost user but have seen posts from users where flashing / updating doesn't wipe settings.
If it would, then theoretically a nandroid would take you back.

Just a theory, maybe the LAxxx version is for in place OTA upgrades and the LBxxx is the full ODIN/wipe version?
Be interesting to compare the actual files after release.
So we're the first US variant of the Galaxy S3 to get Jelly Bean? Sweet.
I believe the version changes once it hits Sprints hands. I think they have their own system for it

This ota seems to be the same as the latest leak. It might have a few tweaks but probably nothing major. If your already rooted and on rooted stock, just wait for the rooted stock version to update to, or go back to EL29 and unroot and then wait for the update.
Sprint rolls out OTA's in waves though, so your looking at a few weeks in waiting time possibly.

Anyways. I talked to a friend who works for sprint corporate in Overland Park and he confirmed this
This is exactly why Sprint's the bomb. They invest the most out of getting device support of any other carrier.
lol my bad. Didn't mean el29! I was helping another 2 other technicians to reflash software on a E4GT at the same time writing that.

Got my update at 6:00 am EST this morning.
I kinda like this Samsung ROM. Not sure I want to ditch it to root and try other ROMs that are probably more buggy at this stage, unless I can guarantee full recovery to stock and hopefully not take up too much space storing ROMs (9GB user space is getting used up fast!).
I was hoping for an update that would improve other things, such as batter life, for one.
I see that Samsung released an update recently on international versions (build number ending in MDM) that may have improved other things besides what is reported to be improved in this build pushed from T-Mobile. Can someone shed some light on this? How do we know if T-Mobile has pushed fixes that include the latest Samsung updates? In my 'About Device' in settings, I see Android version 4.2.2, Kerrnel version 3.4.0-453951, and Build number JDQ39.M919UVUAMDL, which I believe is this update.

The system partition's size does not change no matter what you flash. You can return to stock, see guide.
Is the kernel locked on this one?
Locked kernel = can't install recovery via goo or ROM manager.. And must use ODIN. O;

Yeah that's what is disclosed, but maybe they made some framework charges that are subtle that not everyone notices. I'm not installing until it's confirmed to not have a locked kernel. 16mb could include what they said with some small changes that aren't disclosed.
