OTA ICS update Epic Touch 4g on Boost

Just received the ICS update prompt. Is it safe to do so being on Boost?

So you are a boost customer and got ics ota notification? That can't be bad.

Yes currently on EL29 Gingerbread. Phone is stock. Update does not tell me if its build FF18. It only says it Android 4.0.4 update.

Im not familiar with the process to flash to boost but whats even better is you guys now have ICS rom leaks specific to boost now

Not a boost user but have seen posts from users where flashing / updating doesn't wipe settings.
If it would, then theoretically a nandroid would take you back.

Ha guess I'm pretty famous around here
Anyways from what I have found is that no rom I have flashed on this phone has messes up the radio settings where all the carrier settings are stored. You should be fine. But that being said flash at your own risk ha.

MR 4 means Maintenance Release 4.
It's their 4th maintenance release for the phone.
I think it went EL26 -> EL29 -> FF18 -> FH13. were all OTAs

Was expecting this since they added FH13 to the open source page this morning as mentioned over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30559316&postcount=202

FH13 fixed my ICS battery problems..... not sure about anyone else. I had almost 4 hours of screen time yesterday before it died.

I don't know about fixed. But it did greatly improve it.

I used to know the answer to this but I'm getting old and tired....if I have the FF18 odin OC installed and I de-rooted using AutoRoot, will I still get the OTA message?

As long as the "core" apps are in place and all you did was root, according to the sfhubs threads with one clicks, you'll get the ota.
That being said - being rooted alone, people have failed at getting ota pushes.
If you really want ota, best bet is to go back stock and unless anyone can say different, that means going back to ek02..

Silly question considering the battery issues but the last ICS seemed to break scrolling on the live wallpapers.

Actually, Live Wallpapers used to scroll left and right when moving through home screens. Samsung removed that feature a couple of updates back. I think a certain fruity company says they own the patent or something. They seem to own everything else.

[Q] I got an update yesterday.

I got an OTA update last night of about 217MB, but I have no idea what it did. I'm still on 4.1.2 and I can't see any changes. Anyone know of there were some fixes/additions or whatever? Cheers

Perhaps another lame attempt to correct the miserable 4.1.2 update....
Anyway, thanks for the heads up! I'll await the update with great anticipation.

You can try manually setting the date ahead a few days. Settings/date-time. I had to set mine ahead 2 days then it found it.

The update keeps failing at 32% for me. I have the CF Auto Root on. Anyone have thoughts about what would prevent the update from working? Or if there is a link for the full flashable update? I can just throw on another boot loader like TWRP and flash the darn thing.

My home internet isnt hooked up yet and won't be till Monday so I cant ota cause it says I need wifi. Anyway have fun at the wedding and hit me later in the huddle

Haha actually I woke up to use the restroom, checked xda before I went back to sleep, why? Becuase were all a little addicted right? Haha and as far as Knox goes, you may be right that's it's a downside but I to like to stay stock for the most part as well

Downloading now, I have been stock with this phone so far so I'm not worried about knox. First phone that I haven't seen the need to root and flash roms even though I have been thinking about it for a while now. I'm sure when I do decide to the knox issue won't be an issue cause there are great devs out there..
