NFC tasks are repeating. How to stop? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Recently bought some nfc tags and programmed one to launch Car Home when in my car dock. Works fine, but it repeats every 2 seconds while in the dock. Is there a way to keep from repeating the task over and over? I tried the Limit Tag Execution setting in NFC task launcher but doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? Am I missing something? Thanks for any help.

I don't know nfc task launcher. Could be a bug in that app? Have you tried Tasker?
Update: ah, it's a plugin for tasker. Apparently, the nfc retag app does the trick for a couple of users. Worth a try?

Thanks Petro - I'll try out Retag and see if that fixes things. I'm curious what most people use though. I thought I had seen many people using Task Launcher in conjunction with tasker with no problems reported. I'd really like to utilize Tasker and NFC together.
Edit: Looks like Retag can tasker tasks. Hopefully that's the answer... testing now.

I checked out Retag and its not exactly what I'm looking for. It doesn't actually write data to the tags. I've sent Josh at Tagstand a debug log of my issue and he's hopefully taking a look at it. He said that is obviously not how it should work, with any NFC tags/app. Hopefully he's able to find something. I'll update if he finds a solution.

I can't recreate it. When we left it he thought it might be related to his launching several apps at once, but it stopped occurring. I can tell you that this isn't a normal thing and shouldn't occur. If anyone has this type of thing shoot me a debug log from scanning the tag and having this happen and we might be able to identify what's going on.

If you could get the full logcat output from that it would be very helpful.

Of course now that I'm trying to log the issue, it won't happen... I'm headed out driving for about 2.5hrs later today though so I'll try to grab the log if it happens then.

I think I've narrowed it down to only one type of NFC tag (http://www.tagstand.com/collections...go-type-2-nfc-sticker-ntag-square-35mm-x-35mm). Also, I do not need to have many apps running to repeat the issue...just launching the tag and keeping the phone within proximity will cause it to repeat over and over.
I did get a log.

Ok, so the tag is being lost and the system is re-dispatching the event when it restarts the polling loop and sees the tag again. The screen stays on the entire time? I can get a few of these tags and give them a shot. Does it happen with all of these tags? Those are just standard NTAG203 tags.

I'm not sure if I've tried more than one of that specific type of tag. I know it doesn't happen with other circular tags I received. I'm out of town for the weekend but when I get home Monday or Tuesday I'll try a couple more of the same tags. I'm interested to hear if you can repeat the issue though. Thanks for taking a look and helping

Resurrection of old thread
Bump
Any further news on this topic? I'm having the same problem using Samsung TecTiles with a SGS3 running Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and NFC Task Launcher 4.2.3(198)
The tag is fixed on my car mount and the phone sits in contact with it. It can take anything from a few seconds to over an hour for the repeat read to happen. I have tried setting the 'Limit tag execution' parameter using both a time limit and a 'last tag read' limit and neither seems to make a difference.
I will get a log if there is no status update already available.
Thanks
Mark.

The issue that was being seen was a re-dispatching of tags (I believe due to rotation of the display). That shouldn't occur any longer. The current release isn't applying appropriate logic to the ignore tags settings, this will be fixed in 4.3. You should see that by Friday or early next week.

Would be great to see this fixed. Haven't really been able to use the tags with my car mount because of this.

Persistent ICS Bug List

I know there are threads for each release but I thought it might be a good idea to list the ones still out there in one place.
These are for the Samsung leaks only, not CM9 or AOKP.
As of FC18:
Exchange contacts/calendar??
That's it?!
As of FC07:
GPS
Cell location (works but eventually craps out. Reboot fixes)
Signal bars
Notification vib+sound
Exchange
Post others I may be forgetting and I will update OP.

Is it weird I won't permaswitch to ICS until vib+sound is worked out? lmao. That was the killer for me, of all things.
What is wrong with Exchange? I sync to my work exchange server just fine.
I'm not sure if it's just the ROM or ICS but on both AOKP and CM9 I've had it happen that if I'm in a area with very poor signal, it'll go to airplane mode on it's own. The plane doesn't show in the status bar when it happens so I'll have to check it often to make sure it isn't on since the signal bars obviously have their own bug as well.

Exchange is all I need. Could you elaborate on what doesn't work. Also GPS and cell location are important as getting through LA is a constant battle during traffic times.... I drive all around Southern Cal for my job (paid for travel time but if I don't have to sit on a dead freeway, why waste my time).
I can't make the switch until I know these work 100%.

You can GPS to work by flashing back to GB, get lock, then flash back. But it is still a little wonky and doesn't work out of the box so on the list it goes.

FC07 GPS worked out of the box fine for me and many people for the first time. I have a feeling some of the people without GPS didnt do full reset or are on the list of people with hardware defects. Seems to still not be working for other people that have a clue so its hard to say.
FC07 still does have GPS related issues like it wont stop searching for a lock if it begins and you end up in an area that GPS would never work in the first place. So its still valid that there are GPS issues for sure.

+1, i haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with exchange
Sound notifications, especially sms stops randomly.
A reboot then fixes it.
Strange
From what I've gathered from a variety of threads, the Exchange issue depends on the version of Exchange and relates to the Exchange function that allows it to remotely manage your device.
Those of us on newer versions of Exchange (I'm on 2010) can't sync calendar or contacts on ANY of the Samsung ICS leaks. I have to replace the email and exchange apks with AOSP to get it to work. Otherwise I'm SOL.
So to be clear, there is DEFINITELY an Exchange problem, even if you're not experiencing it. But it's apparently specific to certain setups, and enough of us on this board have that setup that it's a serious problem.

To clarify, navigate to the contact you want to transfer. Then put the two phones back to back. Then tap the screen on the source phone and it will transfer
Yeah, Android Beam requires that you have your web page/contact/Youtube video up in the foreground before you send it over. When you hear the chime after the two devices come together, touch and hold down on middle of your screen until the info gets sent. Often times a quick tap isn't quite enough, especially for web pages.

Google Now Traffic Card

For the life of me I cannot get this card to work. I have location history enabled in Google Maps and have entered my home and work adresses under location history's settings - traveled to and from work a few days, and nothing. Is there some other step I'm missing or is the traffic card glitched or something?
Thanks for the help.
You may go into the setting for that card and change the priority. Make it "none" and save. Then go back in and give it priority. Mine worked out of the box so I'm afraid I can't be much more help than that.

Yes it is, along with WiFi.
well I'm useless here. My device started showing me the travel card by itself. I didn't enter any address information however. It guessed my work and home address of its own accord. I'd try wiping the history and setting the priority to high for the card.
I am only curious how it guessed which place is my home...and it guessed correctly...for the work address it asked me to confirm its guess, but for home address no questioning...awesome...
Listen to me, you don't want this card enabled if you're anywhere but at home with your boring life. I've been travelling, and the traffic/directions card comes up all the time for places I haven't cared about but once a few days ago.
Well.. it's not officially a released feature. I can't complain too much, considering... well I've looked at all sorts of settings which would seem logical, but I keep getting directions to Walmart or the random bakery I went to the other day.
Google Now is really smart.. but it really tries too hard when you're not home.

I was having this issue myself, I got no traffic card even though I knew everything was set up. It was my favourite feature of Google now (especially for appointment reminders) and I was so disappointed! It seems in my googling plenty of people were having the issue and no answers anywhere.
I managed to get mine working, so I'm posting my solution in case someone else has the same problem and does the same googling. My problem was that somehow Google now was set to use public transport by default, however, there is no public transport info in my city. So no card at all. Unfortunately, Google now wouldn't let me change my settings as the traffic card has to be popped up in order to change the preferred transport method.
So I just uninstalled updates, then started Google now, went to settings, traffic, and switched my preferred transport method to driving. Traffic card appeared! I could then update back to the latest Google now and had my traffic cards back.
Good luck!

NFC randomly disabling??

Ok, here's the issue I'm running into:
I use NFC to automate my phone profiles like a lot of us probably do with this phone (AT&T S3, using Samsung TechTiles w/NFC Tag Launcher app). Until yesterday, it had been working with complete and total reliability.
However, yesterday I decided to install the following Google Wallet fix to enable Wallet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769083&page=114, <-- which by the way works like a charm
Anyway, since then, my NFC for normal profiles (Home, Work, Night time, etc) that I set up initially doesn't always work when I touch or swipe the phone over a TechTile --sometimes it works, other times it doesn't--. So, as often as not, I have to go into phone Settings and turn off and then back on again the NFC switch. At that point, it works fine once again, but having to go into Settings to disable and then re-enable the NFC function kind of defeats the purpose of having working NFC hardware (for regular use with profiles anyway).
Anyone else run into this problem or one similar to it?
P.S.: I have rebooted, etc. multiple times also and yet still, this issue randomly persists.
Any help is appreciated.
-Ryan
