How come the one x s4 version had 1gb ram but had over 700 or even like 900 available plus running sense and we only have 663 or something

There's a multiple threads like this... That 300-400mb of ram is used dedicated for system itself, such as gpu.

Where did you see this? You're confusing one x with the sgs2 which has 2gb of ram and around 900 free. Not the one x, it only has like 200 free.

I guess HTC decided to minimize system ram usage. I personally am fine with 600 to be honest. And also bare in mind that ram doesn't mean much of you don't use much apps
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP nightly with Franco Kernel, overclocked to 1.4GHz

I had the Rent A Razr and it ran smooth on stock with many apps running and still had about 450mb of free RAM free. Half the apps on my GNex and at about 300 remaining. Does ICS use more ram than the older systems?
System specs says:
711688kb total
61236 free
151804 inactive
Can someone clarify this a bit more? Just did some math, that's correct.
I dont have a gnex but on my fascinate, ICS 4.0 uses alot more RAM then 2.3.7 GB does.
would also like to know this... looks like we have 600 to 700mb memory... very odd
300mb or so is reserved for the system.

That sounds about right. I guess it does use more ram than Gingerbread.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
RAM not being used is ram wasted. Really shouldn't worry about how much is being used tbh, only when there is no available ram there is a problem. ICS manages its ram fine and there should never be problems with too little ram. Wouldn't worry yourself over it.

Those missing ram are dedicated to the GPU. Though in cyanogenmod, they modified it so that the GPU will only take what it needs.

is this possible right now
Right now no, but possible. I see no reason why you would want to overclock it.

Bench marks mean nothing in the real world, also when running 4 cores It's limited to 1.2 GHz, 2 cores 1.4 GHz and 1 core 1.5 GHz
Be a better idea to work out how to remove this limit.

That seems to be the T30 version of the Tegra 3. As far as I know, we are using the T33 revision of Tegra 3, and are able to hit 1.5GHz on all cores under load. Might be wrong, but that's what I've read, we're using a new revision of Tegra 3.
i think you would be better off overclocking the gpu since the four cpu`s will be enough to run any game for the foreseeable future. i remember seeing a post saying that the could run the gpu at 600mhz and score 80+fps in the opengl egypt 720p offscreen benchmark. also the asus transformer prime has overclock and at 1.7ghz(reported stable) will hit over 14000 in antutu taking into account the higher res screen.
Nothing new since May????
The international Galaxy S 3 has a quad core Exynos CPU with 1GB of RAM, while the USA versions of the Galaxy S 3 have a dual core Snapdragon S4 chip with 2GB of RAM. Which is better? Most importantly, which is faster?
If you've been wondering if there are any important differences in speed between the International Samsung Galaxy S III sporting the Quad-Core Exynos processor and the US variant that sports a Dua-Core Snapdragon S4 CPU, this video is for you. Watch our detailed comparison of how real-life use affects each device on a side-by-side battle.

Thoughts?
I like what I'm seeing. No real difference other than benchmarks. I don't see the lag on the US Variant that people speak of.
Now if i could just get Verizon to Release their version
Looks great. Very straightforward and nicely done comparison.

Only in CPU benchmarks. For everyday usage I'll take the extra gig of ram over the extra 2 cores (which most apps probably won't take advantage of)

Lol extra 2 gig wont matter much it would just let you do more multitasking but when you run high end games like nova 3 then international gs3 would run better cuz it has better cpu &gpu

sucksss... don't ever buy buddy of u don't wnaa regret else is upon you
if u love sony then go for it
as you know sony, lg are electronics developers
while htc is sole phone developer
it doesn't resemble bt still think wt i am trying to say

Both the arc s and U have faster processors though. Surely, they'd be a better option?

Compare arc S to U.... U wins by miles. It has a lot faster processor and a lot faster GPU.
Compare One V to arc S - One V wins by miles. One V has beautiful display + decent processor (it is 1ghz but in reality, it was underclocked by htc from 1.4 to 1ghz because of the casing).
Compare One V to U - Xperia U wins by miles IF you are interested only in playing games, running apps faster and you are not interested in any kind of deving, not even root.
Xperia comes with a powerful GPU, the MALI 400 - the one that you can find in Galaxy S2, and a dual core processor Cortex A9 - 1ghz - again - the same processor that comes with Galaxy S2.
So IF you want only playing games, multimedia and such... 100% go for Xperia U.
Have a nice day!

That's a very informtive response and i thank you for it but are you sure those are the specs of the xperia U? I think you may have mixed them up with the specs of the xperia P.
Also, woudn't the arc S be superior due to it's faster processor (than the one V). You say it wins by miles but why?

Think I may go for the one V after all. Dont think the others are worth the £80 more or so and they are somewhat past the price range. Thanks for all the help!
Is the one V due an upgrade to jellybean?
Is the One V fast and fluid?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
no jelly bean
but the developers are going to port soon
and yes its fast.. when rooted.. well i dont actually remember how it was on stock never used it

No jellybean confirmed? Would've thought that being a 2012 device, it might.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
Not confirmed yet no, But like you said, 2012 device, so i would assume a update will come eventually, But after One x and s, so our devs will probally have a aosp/cm Port way before htc releases a crappy sensified version (yes, i Hate sense )

Android OS reserves the rest in order to run, the 833 remaining is available for other operations and apps. it's like that in almost all android devices as well.
Thanks , i am thinking to change it for an iphone 4 or 4s if i find someone willing to make the eexchange, considering a second hand iphone 4/4s costs 200/250 euro.... i might be lucky
