Compare arc S to U.... U wins by miles. It has a lot faster processor and a lot faster GPU.
Compare One V to arc S - One V wins by miles. One V has beautiful display + decent processor (it is 1ghz but in reality, it was underclocked by htc from 1.4 to 1ghz because of the casing).
Compare One V to U - Xperia U wins by miles IF you are interested only in playing games, running apps faster and you are not interested in any kind of deving, not even root.
Xperia comes with a powerful GPU, the MALI 400 - the one that you can find in Galaxy S2, and a dual core processor Cortex A9 - 1ghz - again - the same processor that comes with Galaxy S2.
So IF you want only playing games, multimedia and such... 100% go for Xperia U.
Have a nice day!

That's a very informtive response and i thank you for it but are you sure those are the specs of the xperia U? I think you may have mixed them up with the specs of the xperia P.
Also, woudn't the arc S be superior due to it's faster processor (than the one V). You say it wins by miles but why?

Think I may go for the one V after all. Dont think the others are worth the £80 more or so and they are somewhat past the price range. Thanks for all the help!
Is the one V due an upgrade to jellybean?
Is the One V fast and fluid?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
no jelly bean
but the developers are going to port soon
and yes its fast.. when rooted.. well i dont actually remember how it was on stock never used it

No jellybean confirmed? Would've thought that being a 2012 device, it might.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
Not confirmed yet no, But like you said, 2012 device, so i would assume a update will come eventually, But after One x and s, so our devs will probally have a aosp/cm Port way before htc releases a crappy sensified version (yes, i Hate sense )

Call it fake or mockup or whatever, there is a strong rumor that Sony will be releasing Nexus Phone this year.
And how is a Sony Nexus different from the Xperia T? Or rather, what exactly is a Nexus? Also, I'm more interested in the rumored quad core Sony phone that was leaked last week.

In general, a Nexus device gets the latest updates faster than any other phone. They usually set the bar for where Google thinks the platform should be at. All of the manufacturers will have their own flagship devices, but none of them will get updates faster than a Nexus device.

Sgs2 has handled every game I've thrown at it nicely (even when underclocked) the only problem with it is the sound chip and hwcomposer which made it tricky to port jb in the beginning so when klp is released we might be a bit slow at getting it. Overall though it's still a beast, still has great development and a huge choice of custom roms and can still fight it out with the best of them....

I want a phone that is similar to the defy in physical shape and durability, but with more power and mininimum jb as stock.
Have been loooking a bit on the xperia z, but it is not very rugged and rather big . and Ideally i want to wait until BT low energy Api becomes part of android.
i would disqualify Motorola for the way they broke ics upgrade promisises.. but i cant overlook just how much beating my defy have faced without a scratch... so if they are the only maker of a phone with those traits.....
Well for now i am running quarkx 4.1.2 and it is good enough for me.

Sony Xperia SP
It would be very nice if my next phone is waterproof.

I'm not sure if we get an option to buy the Motorola phones here in India, anybody who can throw some light on this is appreciated. I have a DEFY not planning to sell.
PS: Whenever I go to these stores here in India, the seller Moto models are not available & they don't stock it. I'm aware of Motorola closing doors here, but any other ways to buy?
As I generally avoid buying Samsung products, the only two phones that I consider at the moment are:
Razr HD
Xperia Acro S
Xperia V
While I really think that the Razr I is a nice phone, there is no CM for it yet (and I have my doubts that it will ever be).
For now, I stay with the Defy because of the form factor (for me, the size is just right) and the community.
I'm in two minds whether to buy it s3 or nexus 4!

Think you'll find everything you need there.
In my opinion, the phone is perfect in terms of build quality and performance. It has quad-core processor and that Tegra 3 chipset makes it wonderfull for hardcore gaming. However, that 1800mAh battery brings all those things down. 720p display and quad-core with that battery... If you use it with 3h+ display on you will have hard time making whole day with one charge.
But don't get me wrong! The HOX is decent phone and amazing for entertainment. I just wish it could have more juice like HOX+
