So im going to buy a new sealed in box s3 tommorow for 460. First of all is it a good deal? Second of all im going to open the sealed s3 of course to checkit . So is there anything i need to check like any hardware issues or any defects? If there is can you guys tell me i cant wait to get it tommorow i can get my hands on this i was going to get a note but the specs are way to outdated  . Im switching from a htc one x to an s3 i cant deal with htc sense and flashing roms is a pain
Thanks :good:
edit- the phone is white ive been hearing that the back cracks for no reason?
Wouldn't do it unless you have a mini sim to try the signal. Brand new in box always makes me cringe do to stolen devices. Ask for a receipt if anything. Other then that I wouldn't recommend anything else.

Precisely what he said. Perhaps you should meet at an AT&T store so that the employees can verify the IMEI.

Yeah, I saw you were switching from a One X so I just assumed you were going to still be on AT&T haha. If he still has the receipt then I suppose you should be okay. Enjoy the S III
Yeah i had the international one x. So any things to look out for the s3 like a bad screen or etc...?
No bad screens that I know off. Screen quality control was much better with the S3 than the Galaxy Nexus. If anything, check for cracks on the corners and sides of the silver bezel. Mines already cracked in all four corners, but I bought it from another member so I can't go complain to T-Mobile that I know of.

Those aren't cracks, just seams in the plastic. All the SIIIs have them.

Tmobile locations around me have not received any cases or screen protectors and because they've switched to micro-sim I didn't have a choice when purchasing this phone but to activate it. Today I had my note 2 in my jacket pocket safe close to my chest. I get out of my car and the way I leaned it fell out of my pocket and hit the pavement. Lucky no scratches on the screen but the sides of it are jacked. You think TMO will take pity on me and let me switch it out seeing that I would have purchase case to protect my phone?
I don't think so, you can always buy a case online.

I know it's a bit late now but...go to a Sprint store. They seem to have the cases. I read it on another thread and confirmed it myself today.
The Sprint store i went to had sold out of the clip on case but had the flip case in the grey and the white. I didn't try any other stores because the flip case was what i wanted in the first place so i was happy!

Sorry to hear that. I know the feeling. I actually took apart my note ii - not bad at all! The only tricky part was getting a hand on how to separate the bezel from the glass - a plastic knife and slight pressure was all that was needed. There is a youtube video on the dis-assembly of a note ii - check it out.
Having said that, I am seeing many places on the web selling the housing for cheap. So when you have the time (or a friend if you don't like doing these things), go replace the housing.
Regards,
Don

I know this doest help but i completely agree with the OP being angry cause Tmo didnt have accessories for it. Im in the same boat and im holding it around like if it were an infant child. Ive dropped it twice but very closed to a tile floor. Its very slippery sans case. And buying a case at the Sprint store, thats a very good idea!
ouch!!!
I had the exact same thing happen to me with my gs3 (sold and purchased note 2) i was lucky enough that my phone had a defective bluetooth hardware so i was able to return and got a brand new one!!! The only difference is that i purchased on tmobile.com so nobody physically inspected the phone before i received my new handset. I guess you could try and tell them that you have a malfunctioning device? It would be hard since they will more than likely relate the malfunction to the fall. But it wouldnt hurt to try???
Good luck to you!
P.s. and no, i did not get charged by tmobile for the damage to the returned phone.
u can find exact same case that tmobile offers on ebay for a great price
amazon has a few cases that are cheap and Prime eligible.
http://www.amazon.com/AirBus-Clear-...8&qid=1351485624&sr=8-2&keywords=airbus+n7100
i have the blue one of these. it's undeniably cheap. but it gets the job done for now. and would have prevented your heartache OP.
best choice for you is to get insurance on the thing and make a claim in a few weeks.
I am a pretty die hard phone guy and almost EVERY phone I have purchased I made sure I had a case and screen protector handy because most of my purchases I have had time to decide what I wanted and I got prepared for that special "DAY" when the phone releases on your carrier or it comes in the mail ... That being said, It is not very common for T-mobile to stock ANY "good" cases cause they just kinda suck when it comes to accessories but it's not their fault that they didn't have accessories on a phone that they made available to the public faster than any other US carrier... Now that is a first! LOL If you need one now than Sprint stores are probably your best bet or maybe Best Buy... Be prepared to dive deep in the wallet though... I really do feel your pain though and hope you can get it fixed without too much cost. Good luck! :fingers-crossed:

Nope, not at all, that's an extra charge of $7 a month, plus, with all these insurances, there's a deductible, so even if the OP had it, he'd have to pay out of pocket because the damage is most likely less than the deductible (or just a tad bit over that it's not worth paying the $100+ deductible).
In any case, if it's simply the battery door that's scratch, go buy a replacement one, if it's the silver rim around the phone, there's no replacing that. I myself got the nillkin case before i bought the phone (got here Saturday and bought the phone Friday):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140855149689&ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:US:3160
it's a pretty nice case for $9 and adds some texture to the phone. I usually hate cases for my phones, but this one is pretty nice. (And screw samsung for using cheap plasticky materials on their $700+ phones... that's why i usually dont buy samsung... but the Note II's one of a kind i grudgingly had to succumb... but still pissed at them for the material choice).
thanks for all the suggestions...
I'm gonna call the store that I bought it from today and see ..... all they can say is no. Ill ask about them about insurance claims, I've never made a claim before so I don't know the process.
I do have the fact that I've called that store every single day since I bought the phone looking for case and screen protector. From the way it sounds Sprint seems to be the best alternative on getting a protector ASAP.
Once I put a case on it I won't be able to see any of the damange at all...
There's usually a return policy within 14-30 days. Depending on how you bought the phone you could tell them it came like that. Good luck!
Get an insurance with t mobile, think you can get it within 30 days of purchase, and then file a claim. Will have to pay a deductible of course.

It's a crushed tab on the battery cover itself, so since its not the phone they never offered to replace it.
Sucks. Sometimes they replace the whole divice if they dont have spare parts is all. Like hove some times they repkace the phone for a malfunctioning s-pen

Today I called Samsung about an s pen replacement because mine is finicky and I have to bang it against a hard surface for it to work again (have to repeat this process every few hours). They told me to send them the pen and wait a week or two so they can diagnose the pen. Not kidding.

Just an update, I haven't had the time to contact Samsung yet, going to try tomorrow and will update.
So I called Samsung and was told since it came from TMo that way, I have to get them to replace it, or buy a new one.
Called TMo back again and they spoke to Samsung, basically Samsung doesnt even have any to sell yet, but in the meantime TMo is crediting my account for the $11 it will cost Samsung to send me one once it comes in stock. They did reiterate that you have 14 days to make sure there are no physical abnormalities with the phone, and once past that the phone itself has a one year warranty, nothing else that came in the box does, and they are giving me this one time courtesy.
My back cover doesn't fit well either. Hope to find a cheap replacement with NFC online, maybe even aluminum.

Hey guys,
I'm buying a note 2 on craigslist, so I wanted to know what to check when buying it. Since, I'm going be using it in Canada I don't think it makes a differences if it's blacklisted... Just wanted to know if there's anything specific to check.
Check the bezel for dents, chips, and imperfections. Also check the buttons as a few had sheety home/vol/pwr, and of course the liquid damage indicator. Hope that helps and enjoy your Note !

I also bought mine off craigslist, 2 actually, the first one was factory sealed unopened. att version, paid 480 dollars.. called att and got a unlock code for free.., the second one was used but in great shape, t-mobile brand had box and all accessories for 500. no unlocking as I use t-mobile.
but be leary as some posted on there wanting to meet at an atm at night, that was awfully weird, so didn't follow through.. always meet where you have people, public place restaurant etc.. also be leary of the china copies that will look like the real thing study pics or go to your retailer and look under the batt at the sticker etc.. always test...
I would most definitely download speed test because ther are knock off siii and note ii that looks really good on the surface but can't fool the speed test

PS. Cant you just unlock it yourself? There was some code you dial and are able to unlock it. Simple and free. Worked for mine.

I just went to T-Mobile's trade in program to see what I would get for my GS3. The T999 fetches a pretty penny - 225 bucks. On top of that, the "new" T999L only gets 190 and the Galaxy Note 2 gets 265. A 64GB iPhone 5 is 269.99 for comparison.
Looks like T-Mobile wants to buy back as many T999s as possible, probably anticipating an uptick in exchanges on the heels of the LTE model launching.
Interestingly enough, this is much better than their father's day trade-in deal for the iPhone since it applies to any phone. Something I'm thinking about but I don't have the cash to pay the down payment up front and I'm pretty sure you still have to pay up front if you go to the store as well (although I'm not sure, I haven't called).
Just thought I would post this since this is even more than what HTC was offering on their competitor trade-up offer!

You have to have the down payment as the trade in credit can take weeks to be processed. I was offered 225 as well. But I ended up selling mine while it was still hot for enough to out down for a note 2 for the wife and n4 for me. Got tired of the Samsung game.

Yeah that was my idea too. Seems kind of silly they can't just do a quick in-store inspection and give you your credit. All they have to do is power it up, make sure its not rooted, plug it into a USB charger, and check for damage. Wouldn't take more than 5 minutes total and would dramatically increase sales for T-Mobile if everyone knew they could trade in their phone - T-Mobile still makes a profit, gets new customers and upgrades old ones, and the best part is that it moves them closer to having everyone on LTE so HSPA can be phased out sooner or left for customers that don't care about their network speed.

That's all I saw of your post.
Just looked on eBay at recently sold phones... Average seems to be around 250 but mine is in MINT condition - hell one with a cracked screen sold for 250... The Titanium Grey is selling higher than the others (probably because its the rarest filtering by listing) which is what I happen to have. Prices are all over the place on Craigslist.
I've had eBay for years but never sold anything on there. Too bad my PayPal account got frozen or I'd consider it.
Still wish T-Mobile would just inspect it in the store though, much less of a hassle. lol. I suppose I can call them and see if they can just bill the phone to the account - we've had them for forever.

If I had a regular SIM card I would just use my Samsung Captivate for a little bit while I sold my SGS3 (its really not a bad phone, hell LiquidSmooth 2.6 is even out for that old thing and I'm in a refarmed market to boot so I wouldn't lose 3G) but I don't so yeah.
It doesn't surprise me that people aren't biting on Craigslist. Although here in Denver that's how most people buy and sell things online, hardly anyone I know uses eBay for anything other than super rare stuff so who knows.
I think I'll have to talk to my roommate about billing it to the account if T-Mobile will let us... I don't know though, my S3 still does everything I need it to and I don't have any real issues with it, I just want something new. LMAO.

They wouldn't give you 225 at T-Mobile but I saw one on eBay sell for 245... I would go to eBay and filter until you get your device and then select show sold only and see what they're selling for. Might surprise you.

Any ways T-Mobile dropped that GS4 to $99 who cant afford $99? trade in your phone with tmobile and use it as credit to pay for the phone faster. I seen a lot of post of people saying that the s4 is not a big upgrade from the s3.. I played with one today at the store.. First time I played with an actual live show device. And I put my s3 next to it.. There is a huge different between these 2. If you see them side by side in person.. Now in pictures not so much

And I put my s3 next to it.. There is a huge different between these 2. If you see them side by side in person.. Now in pictures not so much

People on extremely fixed incomes can't afford 99 dollars. I'm fighting disability right now so I get 175 a month from the state of Colorado while I go through the long process with Social Security.
Oh and I fixed my PayPal account... I can't believe all I had to do was call and verify some information with them. If I had known that I would have done that back in October! So now I might just sell my GS3 and get an S4 or One. Torn between the two - don't like non-expandable storage but the One being able to run any ROM from at&t, T-Mo OR International is a HUGE plus to me.

That GS4 is able to run any rom from any carrier in the states and even the international! Go to any carrier s4 forum and you will see... One of the reason I would trade my s3 for the s4 in a heart bit because of it.... And you know samsung is faster than htc in updating phones.. So if a new update comes to the international you can flash it on any carrier us s4.. Witch is pretty cool in my part..

Okay well you just made my decision a ton easier, especially if the 99 down price point is T-Mobile's now standard pricing for the S4. I couldn't really see any other reason to get the One (I really like having an SD card and "Boom Sound" is nice but I found myself covering up the speakers anyway holding the phone in landscape) and with the 7500mAh Zero Lemon battery out for the S4, its kind of a no-brainer especially since it fixes the design flaw with the speaker on the S4 and shoots the sound out the sides.
I wasn't aware that you could flash any carrier ROM to the S4. Apparently that was just in the beginning of the launch then? Sweet!

Yeah people with the s4 are flashing international roms like crazy out of the box... But remember dont flash a rom with the modem witch now days none comes with a modem hehehe.. I played with one today and I really liked it.. I think I may get it and not wait for the note 3.. Really I like the note 2 and that 5'5 screen is big enough.. I Kinda think about it if i want a note 2 but rumors says the that note 3 will be 6'' screen.. I really dont think I will like it that much..
As we on the S3 we can port any carrier rom to ours but not international.. And look how long they been having 4.2.x roms. and we dont have a leak yet.. Flashing roms from international like on the s4 is priceless lol.. I really dont know why XDA had to split these forums.. And not make one. Like on the HTC Sensation.. It was one forum for all Sensations worldwide.
Not to mention that Samsung is MUCH more dev friendly than HTC. Since the One series it just seemed to me that HTC was trying to become too much like the icrap. Plus No expandable storage, no removable battery, locked bootloaders, etc.... any one of these is a deal killer in my book.

I just bought the 8 Core Version of the S4 last month then AT&T started to suck in this area so I switch to T-Mobile Paid my ETF of $150 unlimited everything for $70 paid the down payment of $300 for the T-Mobile Version of the S4. Okay so now I feel like I'm using a crappy version of the S4 if this makes sense I got it for the LTE service which is better even tho on the GT-I9500 I was getting 4G non LTE full bars with AT&T it was 1 - 0 Bars so which one is the better one between these two GT-I9500 or T-Mobile version? and if I do sell the GT-19500 how much would I get I bought it brand new from Newegg.com also had the Camera Failed problem but I loved it no Carrier bloatware & now I feel like I'll be last to the game with getting the updates from Samsung from moving to this one The Origins of the 8 Core S4 I had was from TTT it says lol any help at all?

Yes.
Sell the GT-I9500 for whatever you can get and buy the TMo version if you want to stay on TMo.
Take your losses like a man and next time stop acting like a dog chasing a squirrel. Use a period once in a while.

While your advice is correct about the T Mo version being a better option than the 9500 for the T Mobile network, that last part was a litthe harsh.
Come on, man. You were new to this stuff once too. The Op wasn't being nasty or anything. He's just trying to find a way to minimize the financial hit for making the switch. It's a rough economy. Nothing wrong with making sure you're being as economical as possible.

Harsh? sure. But at least you were able to read my advice and my criticism without your eyes bleeding...
No harsh taken I didn't think AT&T service was gonna go to **** when I bought it as the Fake 4G was pretty decent here so whatever I ended with the T-Mobile but since i'm young with no Credit I had to pay $310 down what can I get outta the 9500? it like brand new I can include a Otterbox Defender Case with no Screen protector on it as it made the screen quality look awful

I had the same problem as the OP.
I bought the octo-core version of the S4 (without doing research of course) and ended up getting the T-Mobile variant.
In total, I spend around $820 for both.
I ended up selling the octo-core version for $380 (I didn't want to deal with eBay or Craigslist) to some guy I met at the mall (He worked for Invisible Shield), lol.
But hey, at least now I have the T-Mobile variant with box and all accessories unused, complete invisible shield protection and a case.
But you can probably get around $400, yeah. Try Swappa or CellTraderOnline.
Thank's for the help and the links
