My phone has developed a habbit

Hi all my phone has developed an aggrevating habbit of leaving a 1 on the messaging widget even though i have read and cleared my messages anyone else had this? The only way i can get rid of the damn 1 is to reboot the phone grrrr
Its a stock 2.3.3 phone

Workaround
Happens to me occasionally. It is irritating. You can do what I do and just send yourself a message. When you receive the message, the 1 remains (instead of incrementing to 2), and should go away once you read your own message
Also, I had this happen the other day, and was rebooting for an unrelated reason, and it STILL hadn't gone away afterwards, but the above workaround has never failed for me

I think it's a common issue, if you use another launcher the messaging icons shows no number so it kinda solves the problem

[Q] A Dad's cry for rooting help!

My son always does my computer/cell phone fixes, but he just got out of major surgery and will be mentally and physically out of it for a while and I need help. I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4G (Epic) , Gingerbread.EI22 2.3.5. --- Sprint recently forced an auto upgrade on it and unrooted my tethering program. I have looked on all sorts of websites and don't understand their instructions. You geniuses speak a different language than I do. Could someone provide, or point me to, simple step by step instructions to get back my Wireless Tether?

It is just a little gratitude button to make us helpful people feel appreciated..LOL. Hope your son is recovering nicely and that you got your tethering working again.

Not that nobody here needs my help but just in case.....I'm here to help too lol man its tuff being new but you have come to the right place. Although qbking makes an AWESOME video....ill make another if you need some more guidence. Also I hope your son starts feeling better

Hi everyone.... ok this is the process I recommend. Write down in order the files and steps needed and to be performed. Its actually simple. To start u off, u turn the phone off. give the phone about 30 seconds to completely power off. The with the keyboard open, u press and hold. The "1" button and press power button at the same time. This gets u into download mode. Then just proceed with the rest of the process.

Need serious help, r800x keeps LAGGING even after resetting

Rooted and starting off...
Titanium back up just sits there when trying to defrost/freeze/restore an app. It does it but the menu for what action I take just sits there saying it's doing what I want it to do. I have to stop titanium backup every time in manage applications for it to stop.
When I reset it, it seems fine without the lag. But later on it'll lag in these major instances I NEED for this phone.
It lags/slows down playing Kirby Super Star for Super Nintendo
Does the same for Banjo Kazooie for N64
GTA 3 just sits there with a black screen.
I got this as a spare phone/gaming device. If I can't play the best games made for this thing IT IS FREAKING USELESS TO ME!
Please someone help me out here I don't know what else to do!

We get it, you don't have to double post.
First off, what kernel are you running?
Second off, have you tried updating su/superuser?
Third off, have you tried logcatting when it slows down?
Fourth off, have you tried V6 supercharger?
Fifth off, are you using a CPU freq utility? (no frills, set CPU, etc?)
Sixth off, when did it start? Did you uninstall/change something?
Seventh off, Have you followed up on any of the ideas that we've posted?
Eighth off, what have you done to try to fix this?

Turn off debugging or reinstall Titanium Backup.
... And with attitudes like this, I'm sure no one will be willing to help you out in the future. Just saying...

Did you flash a custom kernel? Did you flash a custom rom? Do you have a warrenty left?
If you answered NO NO YES, call your cell company and request a new one.

We understand the frustration but just need to realize your original post was a little vague and people need to know more about the situation to be able to help you out with the correct soulfulness for the best results. Generally people are very willing to help out, its what makes XDA so great but you have to patient and help them help you.
Now, I would try the titanium backup bit and or look at getting a faster sdcard nothing beyond class 6, class 10s are a big no no. Just fyi. Please post back with your results and if you got a solution that solves the issue please post that so people who may be or one day be in your situation with severe lag may use that info to help them.

Whats the trick for a Hard Brick??

I can get Qhsusb_dload to show up from time to time on my PC when it connects. but I went to try and flash the Slim Rom from the original android section and it bricked my phone. no screen light up or anything. no LED flashing. i just get Qhsusb_dload when i connect to a PC.
What tricks can i do to get odin to see this.

Did you try the 3 button combination ? Volume down, home key?

You need an attitude check. This was posted in Q&A, he had a question and needs help. If this was posted in the wrong forum, I could MAYBE see this kind of attitude but not here. You were helpful in giving him a link to get his device repaired, but the rest of it was just uncalled for.

As far as I know, he is right about JTAG being your only repair option. This may sound like an obvious question, but I have seen this happen before. Are you sure you were downloading from the right forum? (i.e. not accidentally downloading a ROM meant for another carrier.)

I'm kind of curious how this happens. Never heard of bricking from simply flashing a rom.

If rom is for another carrier or the international version of the S3 (i believe the I9300) then it'll brick it quick.

I thought the i9300 is the sprint version. i had looked it up... but oh well. I did more research i missed one step which may have caused it, or my download corrupted. But my next option is to find someone with a Jtag in my area.

Sprint is the SPH-L710. So yeah.. may have flashed the wrong rom.. Always double check.. and if your in doubt.. ASK! lol

Use a jig. Will boot up into download mode. You need to use Odin and flash stock. Qbking video is really helpful. Good luck.

Yup you flashed the wrong ROM. I had this happen on my Evo 3D, I don't remember which ROM it was but someone had linked to it from the CDMA forum and I took their word for it being a CDMA ROM. It was GSM. Fortunately I was still able to load hboot and loaded clockwork mod via fast boot. I'm sure you've tried going into download mode or recovery a hundred times by now, but one hundred and one wouldn't hurt. Make sure you are pressing the right buttons in the right combination and letting go at the right time. Honestly I think the SIII is a pain to get into D/L or recovery mode. It always takes me a few tries. If you can do that, you won't need to JTAG it. Good luck!

At least the plus side is i got to play stupid and get a replacement for 35$ bucks from sprint. screw that 60 bucks and I get it with in a 2-3 days. this time im gonna make sure i dont flash a i9300 rom lol.... oops

My Play Is Dead

Hello xperia play community. My play seems to have died today. Im pretty sure its the flex cable but not 100 percent sure. The phone turns on and i can see a light coming from thescreen but nothing shows up on the screen. Anyways no matter what the problem i cant fix it as im in egypt and no easy access to the parts right now. When i get back to usa i might fix it or just move on to a new phone (depends on my dad). Anyways i wanted to say thanks to all the xperia play users who made the play better and last longer. I'll try too stay with you guys in the forums and help out but without my play im not sure if ill have the interest. Hopefully this is only a temporary good bye and not permanent.

It was mainly my cousins faults. They never saw a phone like that before and thought it was awesome. So one of the little ones pulled it from me from one side while it was slid open by the screen and this caused some screen issues but it still worked then one of them through a TV remote at me and hit straight on (he had some pretty good aim lol) anyways its most likely only flex cable because it still turns on just nothing on the screen. Hopefully it'll be easy to fix

Not until I get back to USA which is 20 days away and even then I might not fix it because I was stuck on jellybean even when it was working because of Al's. So I'll either completely replace it or get a different phone

Sounds like some of my cousins, they went crazy when I first got my play.

I wish i still had my play but theres too many things wrong with it to fix. I got it checkd and als, flex were damaged and some other thing (maybe digitizer not sure) . So it looks like im just going to replace it with another phone
but i might also get another play because my dad and his freind have a store that they sell some phones and he has an r800x that has a little dent in the side. Other than that it works and if it doesnt sell i might just get it.
