My son always does my computer/cell phone fixes, but he just got out of major surgery and will be mentally and physically out of it for a while and I need help. I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4G (Epic) , Gingerbread.EI22 2.3.5. --- Sprint recently forced an auto upgrade on it and unrooted my tethering program. I have looked on all sorts of websites and don't understand their instructions. You geniuses speak a different language than I do. Could someone provide, or point me to, simple step by step instructions to get back my Wireless Tether?

Hi everyone.... ok this is the process I recommend. Write down in order the files and steps needed and to be performed. Its actually simple. To start u off, u turn the phone off. give the phone about 30 seconds to completely power off. The with the keyboard open, u press and hold. The "1" button and press power button at the same time. This gets u into download mode. Then just proceed with the rest of the process.

Ok so I will try to explain with all the details as I can and thanks for your help
I was rooted with S-off and everything was fine. Was testing some ROM recently when my phone yesterday morning started rebooting on its own. I tried to unplug the battery and go into recovery but it kept rebooting. When i say rebooting it means it went to white screen with htc logo then few seconds with black screen then back to white screen and so on. I tried everything with no avail. Tried RUU from sprint but that did nothing and same problem (only updated my hboot from .93 to 2.02) and when I tried another one the first RUU from sprint available it makes my phone vibrate 5 times and then green light flashing with black screen.
I cannot get into recovery at all. Cannot get ADB to connect and I get fastboot remote not allowed if i tried to erase recovery. Tried to flash recovery several times with no help using Hboot and PC36IMG.zip. Please help me if you can and thanks in advance.

Most likely, this will get moved to Q&A anyhow, and btw, I come to the Dev section last and I DO follow the speed limit (+ about 1% over) and use my blinkers at every turn....

I learned a new word.... lol. But ur absolutely right. People seem more interested in chewing you out than offering a helping hand. Even if the thread is in the wrong place.
So, I flashed Caulks new EK02 Rom, and, when I went to restart, phone is stuck on boot screen; Wiped everything as normal before flashing, but stuck on the yellow triangle screen.
I tried all the normal stuff to get into recovery, but phone won't go past the initial boot screen.
I have a mac computer, and thats all there are in the house, so I can't use Odin..
Can someone help me get the phone back to a state where it starts up?

First of all, this is the ONLY thread I made for this question; I made a post in the thread where the rom was located to make the dev aware of the issue
I'll be watching you closely, for when you have a serious issue and ask for help, to make sure you don't post it more than once..
And, BTW, I used Heimdall on my own, without your suggestion; I've been flashing phones for longer than you've probably been on this earth...

Actually if you are on XDA app or Tapatalk, lately its been occasionally doubling up on random threads. I have seen it happen a several times lately. It will show the same exact thread, same amount of posts, but views are different. That may have happened here. Thanks for the kind words wase.

Wrong sub-forum. This is development for developers. Next time post in General or Q&A. Go to General and do a search for "rooting EI22 OTA" without the quotes and you will see the how to thread in the list.

First you need to locate odin 1.8. Then install the samsung drivers for the galaxy s. Next download this Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?opnq0n0pau8cu01. Now open up odin, put the tar you got in PDA. Next turn your epic completely off (pull battery then put back in) and then plug your epic in and make sure ONLY auto reboot is checked on odin. Now hit start on odin and wait. Now when it is done, your phone will be 'rooted'. Now you can download 'superuser' from the market.
Next I reccomend installing a ROM. A good one for starters is mostly stock which you can find in the development section. Put the zip on your sd card. Now shut.down your phone. Next hold down volume down, camera and power until you get a recovery screen. Next use the volume keys to navigate to install zip from sd card and press camera to select. Now do the same with choose zip and choose mostly stock. Now hit yes and wait. After that is done, use the back arrow to go back and choose reboot. This boot will take a while...
Now your phone will be way better than that **** that didnt give you your money would have made it.
If this worked for you, I would appreciate a thanks or donation.
That rom contains a bunch of fixes. Also I reccomend doing the same thing you did with mostlystock with the samurai kernel.

OH buddy! if you only knew lol.. Im just out of the loop.. but as for calling me an idiot.. man is this how you expect people to learn or are you like the guy i went and saw today that charged me basicly for his tiime? well have a nice day..
p.s. Im the one that dropped the HTC touch setting for metro.. on this forum lol.. that was a few years ago and as time goes by you need to brush up and relearn some things for new phones.. but when people were whinning about the touch.. me and a buddy were busy figuring it.. and we dropped the settings here so every body could use them.. and not once were we rude to any body that need help or asked a question.. as for the location of this post..honest mistake.. wont happen again.

4g hotspot mod can be obtained and is noted in the thread, your apps update on its own and maybe I missed something but are there legit bugs.

I dont mind answering questions and i dont bash noobs just this guy. Look at the treads he posted they r rediculous. Look at my history i dont bash noobs. But like u said "people have lives" like developers and so they may not have time to update there rom nor does it really need updated. SUPRISE, DID you know that SOME people have jobs..lives....fams.. and cant spend 7hrs a day on XDA like a few of you do.. so logging on and scanning 600 pages its easier just to ask again.. and if it bothers you so much to read a question,
if it just pisses you off to read a repeated question, then GOD, maybe YOU are the one who needs to just ignor the question asked and move on. im sure your waitress thinks the same thing when you ask " does it come with fries " when its writen right in front of yiur face on the menue...

Niiiiice point, so here is a thought don't ask the waitress a dumb question and hey here is another thought take some time to research. There are still rules and guidelines in xda in reference to asking questions. I dont want to be that guy but the reason you have to skim through 600 pages is because 400 of those pages have the same question asked over and over. Of course filled with people like me telling them to search....Lol
I have no prob helping a so called noob but really have you seen some of the stuff ppl ask...

ETA questions are impossible to answer. The dev can say he is going to release an update tomorrow and then if he has to make any last minute changes, it looks like he isn't keeping his word and people start going nuts on the thread.

1kds over at droidx forums has been kind enough to make us nexus users a iso disc with everything u need to return back to stock is any of you ever owned a DX u should now what I'm talking about it was a god send for some of u who were not able to connected to rsdlight to be able to sbf or should I say unbrick or phones the awesome thing about it u r able to return back to stock on any computer every thing u need is already there now need to install drivers or anything else I for one live in a hotel and if I brick my phone there is nothing I can do about it till I get home because the hotel and other pleases like this were u can use public computers restrict u from installing hardware on there computers but with this its possible becase u have it all burned on a iso file and no connection is need to me its the best thing made since crust less bread so head over to the original thread and check it out http://www.galaxynexusforum.com/for...t-unlock-restore-lock-all-oss.html#post109420 and hit the thanks button for him donating his time giving us this awesome tool

Now u don't have to worry about flashing that new ROM or mod because u are on the road or any thing else as long as u have this CD with u u will always be able to recover this is also good for people who r having trouble installing fast boot drivers and adb this eliminates that problem for u

First off is this how y'all get your rocks off roming forum trying to find people to insult so what I can't spell good I don't give a damn about grammar that is the least of my worry I've been out of school for 16years I a redneck from Alabama I build power lines for a living and I just happen to like messing with my phone so I'm sorry if I don't give 2shits about grammer I asked 1kds if he could put this together for me and I thought I would share with xda y'all r the reason this site has a bad name cause of people like y'all and why many great dev want post here so if u read this and I now there grammar ant right I don't give a sh-t and go f- ck ur self HAVE A NICE DAY
I actually used that method to restore my Droid X at one point and I must say it was AWESOME! Granted this phone is much easier to monkey with but either way I am grateful for developers taking the time to help out in any way possible.

Ya but those other tools u can't just take out of a CD case and u on any computer any where restricted or not this tool u can

Travisdroidx2 I remember u from the x2 forums did u finally give up on it r u with the nexus now and one more thing did DK get cm9 porter that guy is a beast I would love to see what he could do with a unlocked bootloader
