Rooted and starting off...
Titanium back up just sits there when trying to defrost/freeze/restore an app. It does it but the menu for what action I take just sits there saying it's doing what I want it to do. I have to stop titanium backup every time in manage applications for it to stop.
When I reset it, it seems fine without the lag. But later on it'll lag in these major instances I NEED for this phone.
It lags/slows down playing Kirby Super Star for Super Nintendo
Does the same for Banjo Kazooie for N64
GTA 3 just sits there with a black screen.
I got this as a spare phone/gaming device. If I can't play the best games made for this thing IT IS FREAKING USELESS TO ME!
Please someone help me out here I don't know what else to do!

Try flashing the stock firmware and rooting via the Zergrush method, and then working around with Titanium and all your apps?

We get it, you don't have to double post.
First off, what kernel are you running?
Second off, have you tried updating su/superuser?
Third off, have you tried logcatting when it slows down?
Fourth off, have you tried V6 supercharger?
Fifth off, are you using a CPU freq utility? (no frills, set CPU, etc?)
Sixth off, when did it start? Did you uninstall/change something?
Seventh off, Have you followed up on any of the ideas that we've posted?
Eighth off, what have you done to try to fix this?

Turn off debugging or reinstall Titanium Backup.
... And with attitudes like this, I'm sure no one will be willing to help you out in the future. Just saying...
Did you flash a custom kernel? Did you flash a custom rom? Do you have a warrenty left?
If you answered NO NO YES, call your cell company and request a new one.

We understand the frustration but just need to realize your original post was a little vague and people need to know more about the situation to be able to help you out with the correct soulfulness for the best results. Generally people are very willing to help out, its what makes XDA so great but you have to patient and help them help you.
Now, I would try the titanium backup bit and or look at getting a faster sdcard nothing beyond class 6, class 10s are a big no no. Just fyi. Please post back with your results and if you got a solution that solves the issue please post that so people who may be or one day be in your situation with severe lag may use that info to help them.

HI THERE,
i AM SUPER NOOB. DO NOT USE ANY TERM WITHOUT EXPLAINING PLEASE.
i have the rogers play with 2.3.3. i did root it before using that app that would root your phon with just installing it. now after i updated to 2.3.3. that didnt work.
im wondering if now there is a new version of it?! if not please tell me what is the easiest wy to root the phone. and if u are going to help me please speak noob language. dont just say stuff cuz u assume i know it. im new to all this. never flashed any phone or anything like that. lol
thanks a lot. i need this cuz im getting low space msg and i have lotf or rogers crap on my phone that i want to get rid of. thank youuuuuuuu
You are so noob that you did not read the rules posted in this section. You are supposed to ask all questions in the general area.
You need to be saved from yourself so im not answering you question until you read until your eyes bleed.
Some proper English would help. If you don't know what your doing, and need step by step instructions, you shouldn't be rooting your Play anyway.

Go somewhere else.
Go: Move from a place to another one.
Somewhere: used when there will not be much precision about the location you're being sent to.
Else: in this case, it implies that going back to your starting point (that is, this forum) is undesirable, and that your destination should be different from your starting point.

Hi everyone.... ok this is the process I recommend. Write down in order the files and steps needed and to be performed. Its actually simple. To start u off, u turn the phone off. give the phone about 30 seconds to completely power off. The with the keyboard open, u press and hold. The "1" button and press power button at the same time. This gets u into download mode. Then just proceed with the rest of the process.

I have a quick question guys. my wife has an epic and is annoyed by the camera shutter sounds, I have rooted it no problem and went into the /system/media folder and added .bak to the camera sounds thinking this would get rid of the sound. Nope. I searched the forums and the wiki and have not been able to find a solution.
Thanks in advance for the help, I will rape a thank box, I'm not scared
Only way I know of is to install a custom ROM with the sound removed. Though I'm not sure how the developers actually remove the sounds.
CleanGB perhaps.

that works too lol
Or if your on CM7 or 9 hold the volume button down when you are in the app. the only problem with that is if you close out of the app it resets back to normal sound. kind of annoying but it works.
Here's the one I use in my rom. It's enabled to work at any battery level. It still has the sounds, but it re-includes the silent which is set by default.
Please don't ask how to replace your current camera.apk with this one under /system/app.
This is for Gingerbread, any version should work.

don't root or flash anyone else's phone - especially never your wife's or gf's.

I know how you guys feel, I'm the chief tech person for my whole extended in law family. There are 3 nook colors, 1 book tablet, 4 Android phones, and 4-5 computers that if something happens I get a phone call. and I'm not even that skilled, just find what I need on great sites like this, I READ everything before I try it, and try to logically troubleshoot stuff. My wife is fairly understanding with stuff but when it doesn't work, it's a big deal. She wanted hey phone rooted to get rid of all the bloat. She was running out of memory and her phone was rebooting every couple of hours
Thanks again, just got home from work and going to check out what you guys suggested in a bit. I'll let you know what works.

After you dried out your phone and find out your hardware buttons are still not working you may have to download a third party to replace your hardware buttons. The app is not free and it is better to send back your phone to sony to fix your problems. Use either Button Savior or zSmooth from the android store.

Hi I am new here and I would like to root my device to make it my own and get rid of all the apps that came with it, but I have a few questions.
1, Once I am rooted which rom is the best for my AT&T GN2?
2, Will I still be able to update my GN2?
3, What happens if I messed up during the rooting process?
4, And how often do I need to change roms?
5, Is rooting the way to go?
I am going to be dead honest here, I am a girl and some of the steps of rooting I dont quite understand, if someone can help me explain things I will be so happy.

1. Try each rom out and find out what YOU like. I personally use CleanRom 4.0.5 with no problems.
2. Why update when custom roms are better than stock roms?
3. If you mess up thats on you. But its not to hard root. I rooted and installed a custom rom before leaving the att store.
4. If you find a rom that you like you will most likely flash a new rim once its updated.
5. Yes rooting has many advantages. Ex. Wifi tethering, removing bloatware, custom roms, etc.....

I know it might be easy for you guys that are experts, but for me who is a newbie might not be that easy, I dont even know how to start lol.
Honestly im a noobie still haha.
Clean rom is the best imo.
Go to the android development section and read the stickies at the top and it will tell you everything you need to know involving the rooting process .

I am reading how to root and can you please tell me the differences?
1,Root with Exynos Abuse Apk, is there a difference between rooting like this and the other way?
To my experience this way allows me to remove bloatware aka att apps. And also install custom roms.
Installing the exploit fix may crash camera. Just a warning

By using the app called titanium backup you may disable or delete a lot of apps.
And also back up apps
Theres a lot to read but you will understand in time

Another question, if I root it with Exynos Abuse Apk do I need to install a rom aswell? sorry to ask too many questions
No. You can be rooted using the "stock" rom you are using now out of the box. You will have the ability to delete apps using the app mentioned before.
If and when you do decide to install new roms. You will have to install a recovery. Which that exynos abuse apk does not include.
A recovery is a whole other thing.
For recovery I use twrp.

No, you can stay stock, but you're gonna want to flash something because you know it's better. Clean rom is the way to go.

I'll be honest, this smells of a "phone won't turn on" thread in the near future. You're not ready to root your phone and go playing around in recovery. You might be ready to root once you'd studied up on exanose abuse and the rooting concept in general. But right now I would hold off if I were you. TBO the Gn2 runs so well out of the box that you're almost there anyway. Make sure you are confident that you will know how to do each step BEFORE you attempt to root, and are sure you have another web-enabled device so that you can come here for questions while your Gn2 is down.
Let's us know what you decide...
