Quadrant - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Can someone explain to me why this phone has the worst quadrant score out of all the other high end phones?

Yours is under the average Nexus. Mine clocked in at 3300, but then again, Quadrant doesn't matter

Also I ran the test on 1.2 1.4 1.6 and 1.8 and I can't get it over 3000

No idea what you are talking about!

Because benchmarks are stupid?

If you want to give any credence to Quadrant then go ahead, but it's about as random as a mouse eating celery while driving down the freeway in a 2013 Mustang GT 500 sky blue with white racing stripes jamming the new Tiesto album in 7.1 surround sound digital speakers with a 2 channel 3000 watt amp powering three 10s and two 12s (yeah, 5 subs is random, deal with it) and part of his ear is missing because he got into a fight with a demonic blender and nearly lost.
And that's actually not even as random as the numbers quadrant gives.
Quadrant serves no useful purpose whatsoever.

They are not stupid, but you can't use it to compare to any other phone (even other Nexus) they work to compare before and after for you phone only. Like run it with STOCK clock and ROM and then flash and overclock to see any change, something like that. Same to check how fast does temp go high, and so on...

Because people run them on PC's too.. which just about justifies how well it preforms under pressure. Which is nonsense on phones. I agree but people do it. I could care less what I score as long as the phone lasts long and isn't laggy. I'm good

why does it matter so much to you? because people like to have fun with their devices. no one believes that these benchmarks are the end all. but some do enjoy benchmarking their devices. if you dont like them , ignore them. id rather know why people like you would rather that people not benchmark their devices.. how does this affect you directly and personally? just ignore these threads and dont read or post in them. personally, i suspect that youre feeling inadequate with a slow device :silly:
its as easy as.. if you dont believe in Christianity, dont go to church. but dont stand in front of everyone yelling that theres no god. thats just rude.
---------- Post added at 06:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:49 PM ----------
just to make something clear.. to the average person these benchmarks mean nothing. but to a kernel developer(for example) they show just how the changes they made affect the device. and one specific benchmark does not hold the answer. but using many different benchmarks is like a goldmine of information. plus, some people find it fun, thrilling, just to see how and what they can do to make their devices faster.

They don't mean anything to a kernel developer. Find me one kernel developed who uses quadrant numbers for anything

Quadrant scores used alongside other numbers do paint an overall picture and can be quite useful finding bottle necks and does tell you if a change to code had the desired effect.
You can catch when a change not relating to performance turns up to have an undesired side effect afterall.
Just don't depend on a single benchmark and use several and the data gained is quite useful.

Someone should modify the build prop to 4.5 and benchmark their phone and time

A lower score with ics would actually make sense. Assuming its is really ics. ICS is much more a system hog itself than previous os. The only reason the transformer prime scores high is because it's a pentacore device so the test stresses all the cores.

Very true, the Exynos is able to keep even with benchmarks, only because it's just a much better CPU, thanks to the Cortex A9 tech. The S3, which snappy, will lose some performance on ICS, most likely not noticeable, but you will lose it on benchmarks.
Remember Rev and his ics build and how much crap people gave him because his build prop was 4.0.3? It's gotta be that.

ics brings performance improvements, the reason why gnexus scored badly is because its running 720p on a sgx540..

ICS is also more of a system hog, which will drop the benchmarks, but will increase real world performance dramatically.

should i get a galaxy nexus or a sg3

Which one should i get? i think ill get updates faster from a galaxy nexus and i no that the sg3 has better hardware, but idk if it will have cm9/cm10? Just wanting to know what people think? Also i really like vanilla android and apex launcher, but i dont no if the hardware would make of for the vanilla on the sg3?
I personally wouldn't mind getting a Toyota Prius, but does that mean that the car is right for you? I like the color white, do you?

HTC one x has no removable battery or micro sd slot. For these reasons alone I'd say the Samsung is better. The other problem is that, like all HTC phones, the speaker on the one x is so poor you can't even hear it ringing in your pocket a lot of the time.

Why is this so hard for people to decide? We're not you man, we can't decide for you on what your preferences are.
If you do your quick homework you can see the differences b/t the two.
Nexus for updates and vanilla Android.
S III for TW and better hardware.
You decide, broski.
You should post your question in the SGS3 thread. I think they all like the Galaxy Nexus over there but you should ask just to be sure.

hardware is better in GS3 than Nexus on EVERY SINGLE measure
just get the GS3, and whatever you want on Nexus with software can be put on GS3 once you root (and you can unroot later to claim warranty)
so this is basically, a no brainer. Dont understand why people are shying away from giving an opinion.
GS3 is a better device in every single respect, and even for the software - once you root you get everything from Nexus too. (and can unroot to wipe changes back!)
so no contest here, GET A GS3!

I had a 4s battery life was terrible if I abused the phone at most it got was 8 hours barely a work day, my gs3 will do 12 abused the only reason why 4s got great battery life for most people because they didn't acutely use the phone most iPhone users just use it for phone calls because the screen is too tiny to read forums and everything

this is true! i agree with you sir.
For those of us that need a work horse that is constantly adapting and improving, the SG3 is the best choice. The iPhone is the electronic equivalent of a hot chick with a small dog in her purse...sure it may be a mainstream accessory, but eventually the dog gets old and drops a deuce in the purse.
Here's to Android and the furthering development of the SG3!
Most likely sent from a phone....my carrier pigeon is in the shop.
I think most people have forgotten about the S3 having LTE and any iPhone prior to 5 not having LTE. Put both phones on 3G only and then compare them. You still wouldn't get a fair comparison considering the larger screen and extra features the S3 has. If you want the best battery life out of your device keep auto brightness on and turn off LTE.

This does not make any sense. Why disable a feature one phone to compare it to a lesser phone?
Why not just say the lesser phone does not have the capabilities of the better phone and leave it at that?
Would you compare a Corvette with 2 cylinders deactivated to a Honda with a V6?
As for battery life, this is such a subjective topic that it can not really be compared. Different people have
vastly different battery stats because every phone is being used differently and they are setup differently.

I have to agree. The only features I really care about are the hardware features. Software features can always be added later.

I can't stand all this bickering between companies. No offense but half the features on the S3 are gimmicky just like 3D tv. Each have their own strengths and weaknesses. I owned a iphone 4 before my s3 running cm10. And honestly ill probably get a iphone 5 to see what it's about.

You don't have to wait for the iphone 5 to see what it's about, just add a row of icons to the iphone 4s, and you'll have a pretty good idea.

IPhone 5 is not quad core. That is all.

I heard it was clocked at 1.4 GHz quad core with the a6 chip but not enough to switch back

Can't believe they haven't released official specs yet, I'm thinking it's because they are only going dual core and are trying to keep the focus off that until it starts shipping.

Have you guys been reading @SamsungMobileUS' tweets? Some are actually quite funny. And they are NOT holding back!
I can't blame them since Apple is trying to ban all Samsung phones in the U.S.

Specs don't matter between different OS.

Because if you're comparing battery life, LTE makes a huge difference (sucks more juice)

So rig the comparison because the GS3 might lose something?

3dMark for Android is released.

http://phandroid.com/2013/04/02/futuremark-3dmark-benchmark-android/
Just downloaded it. Pretty big file but not bigger than my disappointment at seeing the Note II's score. Yeah I know benchmarks dont mean crap but I figured it would score a lot higher that what it did.

Our device scores fairly low compared to the nexus 4. Like half.

Barely. The Nexus 4 is neck and neck with the brand new HTC One.
No point in downloading if you haven't yet.
I don't think these are accurate. My scores are in the high 2000. It don't even show up on the scale lol.

Well the more tweaks and overclocking and the more and more crap I have running on my phone lol is why I was way over 4000. It says what's your secret... I wouldn't even know where to begin. Start with Perseus kernel though. But seriously would even getting 6 or 7000 Really be a good thing anyway? I mean running every tweak and tweak app and overclock isn't really healthy for your device overall imo. Don't get me wrong I love how fast this thing is but lots of times you end up screwing something up and have to start from scratch.

Just what we needed, another "benchmark" to make us feel inadequate about our phones.
PS, I hate futuremark. They are BS for a benchmark, but great for stress-testing/burn-in a new video card.
Sent from my calculator watch.
Regular test: 4606
Extreme: 3160
Running Synergy r50 release
with Perseus and all CPU and GPU maxed out with performance governor.
I know the numbers mean nothing but it's always fun.
Not that it means much, but for fun, here are my numbers:
Regular: 3415
Extreme: 2545
Whomp's latest and No-frills CPU set at performance.
I'd rather have the 15+ hours of battery life than fighting space ships moving a bit faster.
Never understood the benchmark apps. They mean very little in today's devices.

I don't understand why so many people base a device off a benchmark. Real World is totally different
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I disagree that benchmarks mean nothing. They measure speed and performance which is what I want out of my device. To each his own but they mean everything to me. Some worry more about battery life which is fine but obviously not performance because it would adversely affect your battery.

What a benchmark does is measure how well your particular device does in that particular benchmark... It tells you nothing about real world life of opening or closing apps or about interface lag. Battery life is something real, a bench like this tells you nothing apart from how well your device does on it.
Benches are fundamentally about epeen.

I guess what I'm saying is I don't care about battery life because I bought 3 extra batteries and a wall charger so it's not an issue for me and performance is what I want. Yeah maybe benches don't say much but I'm into speed so I like to just have something to compare it too.

We have the biggest phone, why not want the biggest e-peen?
