[Q] Car Charger makes SD card unavailable

Hopefully someone can help... When I plug my Evo into my (off brand) car charger, it makes the SD Card unavailable (like it was plugged into a PC). At first, I thought it might be the charger, but my wife's EVO works fine. Any ideas???
Here are the things I have tried...
- Restarted the phone
- Moved all apps back from SD card to phone memory
- Disabled USB debugging
- Restarted phone again
Update...
When I unmount my SD card, plug in the charger, and then re-mount the card, it works. Pain in the rump though... and in case anyone was wondering, no my phone is not rooted or modified in any way. My wife's EVO works fine with the same charger.
Anyone have any ideas??? I would really like to be able to access my music while the charger is plugged in without having to unmount/re-mount.
Go into settings and change the default USB Connection action from USB Mass Storage to Charging. You must've changed that a while ago and forgotten about it.
Are you using DoubleTwist? It has a feature that automatically mounts the SD card to be used from a PC over the USB cable. For some reason it thinks a car charger is a PC.
This probably holds true for other programs that can auto mount SD to USB.

Already thought of that... That wasn't it. Thanks for the help though.

DoubleTwist was it! I went into the settings and disabled that option. Thank you! This is why I love forums!
THANK YOU!
The same issue was driving me nuts.
DoubleTwist is great; but the xda forum is even better ...

[Q] Conect a 1 Terabyte hard drive through OTG cable.

I'm having problems getting my terabyte hard drive connected to my phone with my home made otg cable.
It works just fine with my 2 gig sandisk flash drive, and my USB mouse. So I know it's not the cable.
I'm on Ravers blackedition Rc6 ICS. Just wondering if there's a workaround.
Oh, and I can't get my x-box controller to regester with my emulators, is there an app for that.
Sent from my very own Galaxy.
You need more power to power that external drive. Flash drives do not require that much juice.
Sorry I had to retype the post a few times due to my connection timing out and left some key stuff out.
The terabyte drive is self powered with an AC plug.
When I plug it in it gets as far as telling me that its connected, then reboots my home screen. I go to access the drive and it says its empty.
I can hear the drive working so I guess its scanning media.
If I leave it plugged in it will freeze the phone. And I have to pull the battery or hold the power button. Then I can't access cell or SD card functions. But a few reboots brings it back.

Probably formatted ntfs and the kernel is lacking proper support.
i have the same issue with my 1TB external harddrive. it also has the ac plugged into the wall then i hooked it up to my phone and it showed this...
also mine is formatted to NTFS.
it is probably only reading a fat partition on the external, as mentioned above if the drive is NTFS formatted, your phone probably wont read it.
This is irrelevant but I really don't see the need or the practicality of plugging in a massive (both storage and physical size) hard drive to a handheld device.

All of my music and movies are on the hard drive. its easier to copy the files from drive to the phone, instead of mounting both to the computer and copying that way.

Ok I see, why not get a 64GB SD instead then? Save the trouble of having to plug in your phone to the hard drive all the time.

phone to recognize external hard drive

I just recently purchased a contour roam POV camera. It has no screen to view videos or anything so basically u shoot vids and wait till u get home to see what u got. I want to plug the camera directly into my lgog and have it recognize it as a drive just as my laptop does when I plug it into it. I can then go to dcim/100media and see the videos. Is it even possible to do this? Or is there an app that would make the phone a USB host, so I can see the videos without a PC? Thanks for ideas or help.

You can't mount any external devices to this phone. I can mount flash drives and usb hard drives to my N7, but when LG was designing this phone, they left out the ability for the phone to power the mountable devices.

So is that a hardware issue then?

[Q] How do you make StickMount mount drives on a USB Hub in the same order / static?

I'm not sure if I'm asking this question right, but I'm using StickMount to mount USB hard drives connected to a hub into my Amazon Fire TV.
The problem is sometimes I have to reboot the AFTV. StickMount doesn't mount the drives in the same order as before breaks my Kodi Library.
What I have to do is unplug all of my hard drives from the hub before I turn the AFTV back on.
Then, I plug in the "sda1" drive and have StickMount mount again.
Wait about 10 seconds for the service to finish.
Then, I plug in the "sdb1" drive and have StickMount mount again.
Wait about 10 seconds for the service to finish.
Then, I plug in the "sdc1" drive and have StickMount mount again.
Wait about 10 seconds for the service to finish.
Then, I plug in the "sdd1" drive and have StickMount mount again.
Wait about 10 seconds for the service to finish.
Etc, etc.
This way really sucks Is there a better way?
