Funny thing (not funny) happened to me. I have the "free music"-(it's orange icon in color) app-download mp3- format songs.....ex: (old Ozzy songs i forgot about).
I tell you this I have never ever had a problem with the songs DownLoading and having difficulty playing those songs. I will say that I found the .apk for the miui stock player (really love that player). I used this free music app on my MotoDX and now on my GneX...WITH that miui player. I have never ever had a problem playing that music DL from that app, on either devices.
Well heres the not so funny thing----the miui app "says" that there is no tracks found-and Amazon mp3 app-when switched to device music says no music found. Now when I go into the free music app, they are there in the "library".
I have found those music tracks via Solid Explorer-through Free Music Download. When I click on a track it will ask me what source i want to use to play it ( miui, google music, spotify, amazon mp3) I tried all of them, the tracks will play w/ miui and google play music, not on the others.
But, when i go into the miui app there is no music (it thinks) on my sd card....same with amazon mp3.....
this happened about 7pm last night (no phone reboots or anything) was on XenonHD-v8
meanwhile I used my miui app to play my music while going to work yesterday and throughout the day....
I am on newest JellyBelly FYI-and same dilemma.....
I hope I explained thoroughly-
What gives-is there something i need to do to my memory card to "fix" something??
(mind you) i building my personal "jukebox" lol-need my music
I believe you have the ROM manager issue:

Hi guys,
First time poster here. Great place to share the love of this fabulous phone.
I need some suggestions on a music player. I was using Winamp Pro on my GN as i also use this app as my music player on my laptop.
I need a music app to tied me over until Winamp is patched for JB
Any ideas?
Stock GN with 4.1.1
Thanks guys.
There are tons of threads about this if you do a search.
I use Google Music. It gives me access to all of my music on my laptop, GNex, and, starting in two days, my Nexus 7. This is great because only about 40% of my music is stored on this laptop, and the other 60% was lost when I reformatted the hard drive on my last laptop and moved to a phone without an SD slot. The Google Music app works great, and even though the widget is kind of crappy, I've found that all music players have crappy widgets.
try Cloud Skipper its a great alternative. Completely free, includes a built-in equalizer, and has a nice and simple widget
Hello!
Though I have HTC phones for 2 years, I never used them for music play.
I bought the Stereoclip yeaterday and I am ''obliged'' to use the HOX to stream music as my cowon J3 BT volume is too low and crappy.
Now to focus on the question here, is there any way to play songs per folder?
I always divide my songs by genre in folders like ''Trance'' ''Rock'' ''80s''...
Ok the HTC music player can play by genre but unfortunetly my mp3s are nothing but well ID3taged + I don't want to put 500 songs in a genre.
So please how can I play by folder?
Any modified htc music app for that purpose?

I would create your own playlists with the Names of the genres you are using.
You can also add sources from DropBox etc this could be a good idea if you want to keep the space on your device free for apps etc.
To do this, goto your music play, click the "Settings" top right corner and click "Add Music source"
Hope this helps my friend.

Forget the dropbox thingy with our very limited 3G network in Lebanon (20 to 100mb per month), or else I would have used Tuneinradio in my car all the time
I think I will install a 3rd party app though I would have preffered to do it with the HTC music app

Okay, heres three options and I can't think of any other way for you to do it, I hope this is helpful.
1 - Obviously you could use another music player, such as WinAmp.
2 - Sort your music into the folders you want, get a file explorer (I Use ESFileExplorer) go on that, navigate to the folder, long press and then click "Music" that folder will then be loaded by itself into the music, Long winded I know but you can still use the stock app.
3 - Create playlists and just name the playlists by the folder.
2 is probably your best bet !
Thanks dude!
I will try playlist to begin with, if it's a pain in the as* I will install a good 3rd party app.
Btw which one is the best (music quality) and has lockscreen controls?

No worries mate
Tbh never used a third party music player, as in my opinion they are never as loud or clear as the stock. Perhaps that could be sorted if you know what to do with an equaliser, but I don't haha.
Couple of Suggestions that I know are good music players:
DoubleTwist - GirlFriend uses this, its free, very smart and sleek looking, and has many functions. Including the lock screen control you asked for. I'd take a look at this.
Player Pro - Looks very capable but never had an experience with it.
Also
WinAmp - Has been around for long time, before android even existed as it was a PC music player, hense the "Win" for "Windows"
I had a good look at PlayerPro, this could be a brilliant option for you, its got everything you've previously mentioned, playing by folder, lock screen controls. etc etc
Hi mate,
here's what I did on my HTC Desire X. You create a folder with a specific name where you put all your music and then in the Music app on HTC Android, you Search for that folder. It then shows up under Albums and you are able to play only the tracks contained in that Album/folder. For the folder names, they have to be somewhat unique, if you have a lot of music on your phone because otherwise it's gonna getm mixed up.
Hope it helps!
Since Sense 4+ we can use folders play in the HTC Music app
I just found an easy solution to the problem.
1. Organize all your songs on your phone under folders as you like
2. Connect your phone to a PC
3. Open Windows Media Player
4. Select all songs from one folder (on the phone) and add to Windows Media Player Playlist
5. Rename Playlist according to your preference
6. Save the playlist
7. Copy the playlist from your music folder on your PC and paste it on your phone in the Music folder
8. The playlist will now be available on your stock music player
Hey guys, I am currently using an AOKP ROM, and I am wondering if there is an APK out there for the TW music player that doesnt need all the TW frameworks. I've tried many music players from the market, and I have even purchased poweramp. They still don't work as well as the touchwiz player. Can anyone help me out?
what did you like about the TouchWiz music player?
i personally disliked it, and installed Google Music right away. (plus, it can stream my entire library)
other notable music players are Winamp and Apollo.
I like to manually manage all my music on my SD card, so the Samsung player works great with custom folder structure.
I like that when you hit the back key it takes you back to the song view (my poweramp just closes, so I am forced to constantly hit the 'back' nav button built into the program and its uncomfortable)
Samsung player works really well with my car. Poweramp always looses my playlists and starts from the beginning, when I turn my car off and on, and has weird effects when you change songs.
Ill try Poweramp, and the Apollo from the market really is no good. I've seen the Apollo in CM, is that one different?
Apollo used to be available only with a CM ROM. but they have released it separately now.
i personally don't use playlists, i just listen to everything i have. and from using Google Music and Apollo, both go back a screen instead of exiting the app. i also haven't noticed any weird effects when changing songs.
I'm playing around with uploading my music to Google Music. That being said, when I run Play Music on my gs3, I ONLY want to see the music stored on the Google Music cloud--I don't want to see anything on my phone's storage. I see an option for "all music / on device only" which is the opposite of what I want. I thought about a third party Google Music player but haven't found anything yet (suggestions for this are welcome, I did see an app to let third party players access the google music cloud files but haven't tried it yet). Thanks for any help on this.

As far as I know Walkman isn't available outside of Sony's official roms.. Spotify I never used so I can't say anything about that.
As for music players, if you don't mind paying a bit for it, everyone and their grandma is recommending Poweramp.
For a free music player I've been using BlackPlayer for a while now. It's not very famous but does everything I ever needed it to, including playing normally (all music on the device by track, artist, album, ..) or from a specific folder, fetching and setting album art, fetching artist info, It has a few inbuilt themes, a couple of widgets, playing by playlist... Look it up on play store, I think it's great.
how about google play music?

did you consider google play music?
For Online Radio (Shoutcast) I use Xiialive.
Its all about n7player been using it for 3-4 years now:good:
the EQ is great and the whole new spin on how to select what you listen to is refreshing
Try Xenoamp, totally different UI and a lot of cool features.
