Music player - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys,
First time poster here. Great place to share the love of this fabulous phone.
I need some suggestions on a music player. I was using Winamp Pro on my GN as i also use this app as my music player on my laptop.
I need a music app to tied me over until Winamp is patched for JB
Any ideas?
Stock GN with 4.1.1
Thanks guys.

There are tons of threads about this if you do a search.
I use Google Music. It gives me access to all of my music on my laptop, GNex, and, starting in two days, my Nexus 7. This is great because only about 40% of my music is stored on this laptop, and the other 60% was lost when I reformatted the hard drive on my last laptop and moved to a phone without an SD slot. The Google Music app works great, and even though the widget is kind of crappy, I've found that all music players have crappy widgets.

try Cloud Skipper its a great alternative. Completely free, includes a built-in equalizer, and has a nice and simple widget

what is the best music app?

i have been really torn of late as to wether or not to keep my desire over my samsung omnia 7. The killer feature on the omnia is the zune music player and the ability to have an acount and download whatever albums i like etc.
Is there such an app or service that is similar to zune that will give me the same functions. I.e to be able to download whatever music and albums i want to the phone for a set monthly payment.
I know its possible to link my phone to i-tunes etc but then i would have to pay for every album i buy.
suggestions please.
Ps i have downloaded poweramp as my music player and am really happy with that. Just need the means to download my songs to the phone now.
I have also tried to use my zune account with all my music on it and transfer the songs to my desire but due to drm it dosent work. Anyone have a work around for this? If so this could solve the problem as i would stick with my zune account.
thanks
Power Amp. BY FAR!

yeah i have that and agree its a great music player
i need however suggestions as to a good music service that allows me to download albums etc to my phone and whereby i pay like a monty subscription.
Just skip the monthly fee and use tunee music or music junk.
RootedHTCDesireZ
I use spotify. It's great!!
by far, power amp is the best mainly coz it has great equalizer setup, but if sync matters more, then double twist is a good option two.
me, i use power amd in tandem with the double twist desktop software. no air sync, but still works great.

Try Grooveshark
free music whenever wherever.

mort player, hands down. not only does it have a good user interface but is heavily customizable and doesn't rely on android to create a file list. for me it was being able to do an A - Z folder list to sort my music bypassing sorting like "genre" and "year".
Best Combo for free music: Transdroid linked to uTorrent. Download the music to a specific media folder on your computer from your phone. Then have Subsonic set up on your PC as well as your phone as a music server. That's what works for me.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/*tunewiki-social-media-player*/com.tunewiki.lyricplayer.android
use tune wiki.
as for your songs on zune just find the path where its downloaded. btw if you want to access your zune libray via my computer, use "Show hidden folders" option.
If you already have a great music collection subsonic is hands down a must have on any android device. I can get any of my 63 gigs of music anywhere in the world. You can either stream it or download songs/albums to your phone. As far as music player I just use stock cm6 (music mod) with dsp settings handling the equalizer. Gets the jib done for me. Doubletwist now has wifi sync as well as winamp. Just play with a bunch of them and decide which works for you

Poweramp is definitely NOT the best.
PlayerPro is much much much better

In my opinion, Winamp is teh best. But @ best this is subjective.
Give Winamp, Poweramp, Mort, 3^2 (Cubed) player a try.
These are the "big" music players that I know of.
gingerbread apparently has a pretty sweet music function that allows you to sync with your home pc's music library. Sounds pretty sweet but there's a ton of free music apps out there on the market (most likely legal issues involved) but I just google an mp3 when I want one.
Anyone remember imusic tao before it disappeared? That thing was killer. Sadly I paid for it and it was removed about a month later.
If what your looking for is a subscription music service that you can download to the phone is would try rhapsody. I think it's like 9.99 a month and you can dl any track they have or stream as well. I've had the service for years and I love it.

Miui music player came out in an apk.. just read it on somesite.. its pretty good. I use that usually (seeing as in running miui rom) but fc lately made me go back to winamp.

Didn't it just get renamed to "GTunes Music"? That's the app I use currently and it looks exactly like imusic used to.

I use winamp as well. I have an iTouch for my music though, I just keep what I use for ringtones on my phone. Happy hunting.
Of the market.. its between Winamp or power amp.. I like power amp better because of the equalizer.. but now that I'm running sense on my g2.. I like the stock music player.. so I uninstalled the both I mentioned and I'm using the HTC desire z stock music player really nice...

[Q] iTunes on Galaxy Nexus

In the past I've used iSyncr to handle iTunes transfers over to my Galaxy S2.
Will this app still work with the Nexus?
If not, how are you guys getting your iTunes playlists/music onto the Galaxy Nexus?
I use iSyncr WiFi, works fine
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
My Sync is said to work well too. Though I have not personally tried this function on it. I use it for WiFi backup.
I'll rather use Google Music makes life soooooo much easier

+1 on that Google Music is what made me pull the trigger on buying a 16gb nexus. I no longer need tons of space on a phone to hold all my music!
I just gave up on iTunes syncing. I hated Doubletwist, so now I just drag and drop. I also spend less time with my music library because of Spotify. Also, check out Salling Media Sync. Its available in the Mac App Store. Its expensive, but I've heard good things about it.

Same. Been using for months. Its awesome.
Can't use Google music in the OK. Very dissapointing!
i use subsonic on my linux server instead
Just to add my tuppence
Being a recent convert to the Android fold (brand new GN - still awaiting update ), and having used iTunes/iPhone for too long, I felt the need to find an app that would let me sync iTunes playlists.
I tried a shed-load of apps; doubletwist was pure crap (IMHO) and not worth the effort, WinAmp might "really whip the llama's ass" but didn't "really know how to sync a playlist" well enough to warrant me keeping it.
I then found iSyncr and the WiFi plugin and these did exactly what they said they would, seamlessly and effortlessly. The free version would only sync 30 tracks per playlist so the paltry price they were asking for it seemed worth it to me.
As for the Google Music point... not available to UK users yet but there is a very simple workaround, just waiting to set this up on my phone.
I second the Subsonic recommendation. It's been around for a while, use it on my phone, browser, wife's iphone.
It does what Google Music does, but you have more control and I believe it does video too. It definitely isn't as easy to setup and use as GM though, so a big caveat there.
iSyncR WiFi sync didn't work for me. I then used DoubleTwist Air Sync to sync. Worked well. The playlists are recognized by PowerAmp, so all is good (as I dislike the DoubleTwist player).
hey, i used iSyncR too, but a lot of songs in the playlists are missing (not only the bought ones) and some pictures are not at the right songs. that really sucks. you may have an alternetive for me? in germany google music is not available now;( besides you always need a good connection for streaming.
thx for answers

[Q] What is your favorite music player?

I'm using Poweramp and it's the best one.

I'm torn at the moment. At first I really liked Poweramp, mostly because the ability the boost the preamp helped with the low volume problems I was having when listening to it in my car. However, after purchasing Volume+ I found that I no longer need that boost.
Zimly by far has my favorite UI, but I've been getting a lot of crashes on it. I'm also considering bTunes, as the part I miss the most about my iPhone is the media player. I'd be curious to hear if anyone considers that a favorite
I also love Poweramp really much.
Bought it.
It plays my music collection at home, has a great equalizer, and now even supports Beats audio - whaddya want more?
Lol, it supports now beats?!?!?! I used to have it, but then I removed just because of the beats. Stock is good, though.
I use winamp because I'm old school I can't say it's especially different to any of the other players I've used but I stick with it anyway.
For audiobooks I use Mort Player Audiobook, now that is a very impressive app! Pity it looks so ugly but I'm sure it will improve.
I've been using PlayerPro for a while now and really like it.
I have been using Winamp since its release. So far it is a good and simple player. Besides I'm using the desktop Winamp player, which enables me to sync my music via the app wireless.
PlayerPro, because I can browse my music by folders.
I've been using Poweramp for a while and I love it! Its flawless!
Google Music. And I also using unlimited data plan
I'm using stock music app, it's good enough for me

I can't get it to download album artwork, even though the stock music app has done this and it shows in the stock app... Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong with Power amp?
Stock Player and Google Musik is good for me
Stock HTC Music player, because it is the only player that support special audio effect
I don't listen to music so much on the phone. (All the time on the PC!)
However, there are a few listed media apps here in case it helps anyone.

I am using it too, for me it is the best player ever D
Im using the HTC Player too. But thers one thing, I'm not happy about. Where is the "Coverflow". It was included in older Version. Is this function deleted or am I stupid?
For me, the best one is 3 (Cube):
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.abrantix.rockon.rockonnggl
PlayerPro

stock sense 3.0 music player for me. every music player ive used had a problem for me; always automatically playing, skipping, and pausing, when a headphone is jacked in. i uninstalled all other music apps. i only have stock player now. stock palyer aint so bad, the quality of the sound is almost the same as from other music apps.

What is the best music app?

So there are several different music streaming services out there, who in essence have the same music and pricing structure.
What I am asking is which has the best performing app (not service) on Android 4?
My vote is Deezer as I use it daily on my Desire and it is quite good but not perfect.
Rdio looks like a very well developed app, whereas Spotify has several negative reviews.
Opinions?
I love turntable.fm when it works lol.
And I like soundcloud as well.
Normally I use Sony music Unlimited because of the sheer number of albums available unfortunately it isn't available officially for the nexus and the side load crashes.
I've fallen back to Pandora, tune in and rdio

MortPlayer is free and my new favorite that has more advanced features is PowerAmp
Most of the time I use Google Play Music since I've got over 1k songs already up, and they let you have a max of 20k songs. I can't imagine being able to find 20k songs that I actually like. No syncing across my computer/phone/tablet, just upload the files once into Google Play Music and then stream it anywhere.
The rest of the time I use Pandora.
So is Google Play Music the online store to rival iTunes that is only available in the US? Or is it the Android "Music" app to play local MP3s?
Pandora is interesting but also only in the US...!

Agreed. Our N7 is our first tablet, and first Android device and I immediately liked the 20,000 song storage ability.
Love xda, getting some great ideas from just browsing around here. :good:

Google Play Music lets you store songs you own, in the "Google Cloud", allowing you to play your songs from your phone/tablet/pc. You literally can upload all your mp3s into it - no questions asked.
You can also play music locally with it. And then the Google Play store also has music you can purchase which is added to your collection.

How do i store music in the cloud? I have like 10 gigs of music on my phone I wanna share at least some with my nexus 7.

I know Deezer lets you do the same as Play Music. You can upload to the "My MP3s" section of your Deezer account and stream them through the app.
It works quite well, but in Offline Mode obviously only the albums you download are available not any of the My MP3s tracks.
Also one flaw of Deezer is you cannot sync a single track for Offline playback, only full Albums.
My favorites in favorite order:
N7
Google Music
Cubed
Jango
I do own Poweramp, but like N7 better. I find Jango much nicer than Pandora. Cubed is just visually cool. I use Google Music on my PC at work 90% of the day.
edit:: sorry, I missed the "streaming" comment. Therefore GM and Jango only.
For playing music, the answer is simple - Neutron. It is amazing. What's even better is that you can get a special version for Tegra devices. Here's a link:

You want the NeutronMP_64.apk. If you are an audiophile like me, then you will be in heaven. Grab a good pair of headphones (NuForce is an amazing brand that not many people know about) and enjoy!!

i think the only way to upload is to install the music manager on your pc. you'll then select the folders you want it to upload.
NeutonMP is awesome for its sound quality , but I hate its interface. I love n7 player interface but their sound quality isnt as awesome as neutonMP.
I'd bought both Poweramp and N7 and switch between them. Using Poweramp more and more. Like the album art display much better, more sound adjustments (not that it matters much on a Nexus 7). N7 starting losing album art (or not finding it), so it's not getting used much.

Music Player

Hello, anyone got any good alternative to the crappy built in music player in WP8?
Im frustrated by the applications on the wp store, all i can fiend is a load of music players that let me stream music from skydrive or from some other online cloud solutions but i cant use that. My data transfer limit is 500MB/month so thats out of the question, but i got a 16GB SD Card where i have my music. But the build in Music player is terrible navigation is terrible, playlist creation is a pain in the a**...
Would love to see some apps like PlayerPro, PowerAmp or similar, guess anything would be better than the original app
