I read somewhere it was like more of a transit update more than anything else

Yeah, I believe it's just to improve transit in cities in Asia, as well as in congested places like New York with a lot of underground transportation. It has new ways to track you, and give you indoor directions.

I'm not sure what the correct name.. but one of them was to connect an external GPS to it.. but in a previous device I seen a person talk about it.. It completely borked his internal GPS.. I could be wrong but I'm pretty confident about my leads lol! I hope some one with the correct name and information can chime in.
Those are testing ports. Do not stick anything in them lol. Someone from here decided to hook up an external GPS receiver from one of those. While it did work fine it completely borked his radio after removing it. Those are really only for Samsung to do tests
sent from my BAD A$$ Epic touch
one is for external.GPS.. the other is EXTERNAL ANTANA.. aand the third isis to read the internal RAM chip.

Maps seems to be eating alot of my battery

The only thing I had on which I recently turned off was update location automatically. Anything else I might be overlooking.

Google Now uses maps. So if you have it enabled, that could be why. Mine uses a little, but I do not use it much for commutes so that might be why it does not use much battery.

I had the same issue but keeping GPS off (when not needed) fixed it.

This is what my battery usage for maps looks like. It used to not drain this much. I haven't even turned on Google Now on a fresh ROM install.

Network vision delivering finally...

In Evanston, IL 3g seems to be more than usable finally (I may even describe it as speedy) ...but not LTE quite yet - at least in the closest tower to me

Lol....
I don't have screen shots but I pulled 2.23mbps down and .9 up the other night then it switches back to the crappie tower and it's 400 or less down and .9 up, progress from the 22kbps I sometimes see.
Another Evanston citizen...
I get the same speeds now as well.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
I used to get those speeds everyday on my evo 4g on the 3g network 2 years ago . Now I'm lucky to get 400kbps. The now network my ass!

Just got a GN2!

Bought it off craigslist and it's amazing. It's so much faster than my gn1 with padawan rom and oc'd it's not funny. Launcher8 works as fast as a wp8 phone. Need to try some games (ikaruga!) to really test it. It also feels smaller than my gn1. Now off to sell my old phone on ebay or craigslist.
AND THEN?
Launcher 8?

Launcher8 is a windows phone 8 launcher for android. It uses tiles of almost any rectangular shape
which you assign to apps or widgets. Widgets work great on it. There are only a few live tiles (notifications on the tiles themselves).
Try it out, it's free. There are several threads on xda about it.
WOW! 2 hours after getting the phone, I get to upgrade from jb 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 over the air! Huzzah!!
and, once again, the point of this thread is?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
BTW there is an Off Topic thread in this section, please use it.
Thanks for the info/update OP but....
