have anyone tried rooting the new firmware with the 4.0.3 kernel method? if it works ill add it to the tutorial:fingers-crossed:
ill try myself later today, i cant do it at the moment.
If that update is available OTA, make OTA update, root should stay there.

Hi.
That is from the Sony Homepage and so my Phone tells me after updating to 4.1.B.0.587
Update your software to benefit from:
Quick dial allows you to quickly find the number you are looking for
Recent Apps button for clear overview of your applications
Quick responses for incoming calls
Optimized email application for multiple accounts
Improved control of your mobile data consumption
For me the "Contacts" now starts faster. Before update it needs 3-4 seconds to start. The LED for SMS doesn´t work. The whole system feels "snappier" for me.
I flash the ftf file with flashtools, did NOT wipe data and NOT wipe cache, after updating and restart let the phone settle down for maybe 10 minutes, then i used the rooting method like before (flash another Kernel, root with Doomlord´s tool and flash back the other kernel) to get root again. Voila. Now everything works fine.

I just rooted 4.1.B.0.587 with the same way for 4.0.4 firmwares - via 4.0.3 kernel.
Because when using toolkit, I got some ADB server error all the time, I just manually typed in all the commands in ADB command prompt. At least, now I am rooted
I have an unlocked bootloader so assuming I want to stick with the 587 kernel I guess I need to hotboot a kernel that has CWM Recovery, flash RootXperia.zip (or Superuser-x.x.x-efghi-signed.zip) and I'm good to go?
Of course, I'll lose CWM Recovery if I do that.
help plz =)

3 download busy-box installer and update busy-box 1.20.2
4 find xparts for recovery
5 then flash the ftf kernel from .587 and your done

does it comes out with doomlord logo first , if doomlord kernel u just have to push back button when blue led light come out , and you start entering recovery mode , if not you just have to flash to original firmware again.

Root for 4.0.4 Xperia Arc/ Arc S was out a while ago. One must downgrade the kernel, root and then upgrade it.
try to put your drive into flashmode and flash back to a stock rom/kernel and try install the big pack on an GB rom!
First of all, go to this forum and download the LT15i 4.0.4 update for your phone. I suggest Generic Global World.
Flash it using the latest version of Flashtool (v0.8.6.0). Check the No Final Verification box. Welcome to the correct build of ICS for your phone. LOL!
Now you've already downloaded the LT18's 4.0.3 ftf previously. Using Flashtool, just flash the kernel alone of the 4.0.3 build. Make sure you exclude everything else. The 4.0.3 kernel is rootable using the zergrush exploit.
Once that's done, flash back the 4.0.4 kernel. Again making sure to exclude everything else other than the kernel.
And there you go, you have a rooted 4.0.4. After this, go download pvyParts' Xperia CWM Auto-Installer from the market.
That should solve your problem. You should have no issues with CWM after that. (Maybe except a slight offline charging issue. )

Sorry, my bad. I misquoted. I meant to say use DooMLorD's Rooting Toolkit for ICS.
EDIT: I take that back. The Rooting Toolkit DOES use the zergrush exploit.

Yes. What kernel you got to lose that you worry about? Root, yes, you lose.
SEUS is Sony Ericsson Update Service with old name, SUS(Sony Update Service) is new name.

Hello everyone!
I have a Live with Walkman (WT19i) phone with rooted 4.1.B.0.431 firmware.
Last night i tried the OTA (Over the air) update, so my superuser permissions will not be lost.
So my phone downloads the update, restarts and proceeds through the 2 out of 4 steps of the update(box + up arrow image on screen). On the 3rd step(down arrow image on screen) there is a bit loading on the bar and then my phone restarts normally.
After the restart I get the message "Could not install update software. Try again." (or smthing similar)
Any ideas???

I tried this on my dad's Ray. OTA update failed multiple times, until he updated it with PC Companion. Root was lost, ofcourse, but then I just flashed the old kernel, rooted with suitable exploit and flashed the latest kernel again. Nothing was lost on the phone (few apps got installed again, like wisepilot, facebook, facebook inside xperia and some carriers bloatware - took me 10 minutes to remove all that junk).

Some bugs fixed, generally faster, battery lasts longer.
The OTA update fails because of the root, most likely cause you moved from the system some app that's necessary.

Alternatively, you could flash official firmwares. This is the Latest ICS Firmware.
If i'm not wrong, you will need to install Android SDK and Flashtool.
After you installed Flashtool, locate the installation directory and install the drivers. Follow the video below for the flashing part

Don't complicate your life even more. The guy above told you already. Use Flashtool, and flash official ROM (.ftf format). It doesn't get any easier that this really.
0. Before anything, install PC Companion, or Sony Update Service, for the drivers sake.
1. Install Flashtool.
http://androxyde.github.com/
2. Download official ICS ROM.
https://hotfile.com/dl/167361348/43349db/LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2716).ftf.html
3. Move downloaded ROM into C:\Flashtool\firmwares folder.
4. Run Flashtool, click flash button, choose flashmode, click OK, leave everything defaultly checked. After few seconds it will ask you to connect your phone in flash mode.
5. Turn off your phone (charged above 50%) and connect it to your PC with back button pressed (flash mode).
6. Flashtool will recognise your phone and start flashing process. You can release back button as soon as the flashing process starts.
7. Wait untill the flashing is complete, disconnect your phone, and turn it on.
That's it.
i just wanted a link for a rom thats all .. thank you
