Flashing Stock recovery - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys, I have my SGN here in flashed with the stock rom. Everything is stock but the recovery. I need stock recovery to update to 4.1 jellybean. I'm always getting these annoying messages on my phone telling me to update my phone. I tried downloading with the clockwork recovery but it just crashes and i get an error. I'm begging someone to show me a step by step way to flash stock recovery on galaxy nexus. Please and thank you!!!!

What version of Android are you on? If you are on yakju IMM76I, you can flash this stock recovery.

[Q] Return Galaxy Nexus to FULL stock

Hi guys,
I wanted to sell my GN on now. I did a cwm recovery back to 4.0.1 which went fine but when i tried to install the OTA update that always proceeds the 4.0.1 restore it starts installing then i get the red triangle android and the update fails as i have to pull the battery.
Is this because its still rooted or because i flashed the 4.0.4 bootloader n radio? Does anyone know where i can get stock gsm bootloader thats cwm flashable?
Any guidance/ help appreciated!

Originally Rooted Samsung Galaxy Nexus flashed with Jelly Bean 4.1 OTA and Root lost

A couple of days ago I was able to unlock the bootloader on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GSM Version) and install a custom ROM of Jelly Bean 4.1. Last night I decided to flash an OTA version of 4.1, and being rather new to this, I didn't know that I would loose root to my phone. I have tried several ways to try and reobtain root with no success... When I boot up into recovery mode I get the android lying down with the red explanation mark.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The OTA package probably changed the recovery back to stock as well... You'll have to flash custom recovery again and then restore your nandroid or flash the rooted ROM again.

I try to flash the ClockwordMod Recovery and it says "You must have the ClockworkMod recovery installed before continuing. Install the recovery through ROM manager first"
I did this before I installed the new ROM on my phone but there are no recoveries listed...

You cannot flash CWM with ROM Manager if you do not have root...
You need to plug your device into a computer and use fastboot.exe to flash CWM. I suggest you read up a bit on how to use fastboot. Have you read this sticky?
Thank you! Between the source you provided and a few others I was able to finally get into recovery and reflash to Bigxie ROM! I will be staying far away from OTA versions until I have made myself a more advanced user

[Q] i317 still on 4.1.2... :( SOLVED!

my work requires encryption. i was on slimkatv22 at the time and had to encrypt. as encryption kept failing, i went back to stock. way back to stock.
so i'm running
JZO54K.I317UCAMH3 ROM
TEAMWIN Recovery
I317UCUCNE5 Bootloader
with Root and Busybox installed.
everytime i try to update via device update, it downloads, reboots and runs TWRP, I decrypt using password, reboots and the update fails with "Update Interrupted" message.
Is there a way to update ROM and keep encryption?
You can't OTA stock ROMs without stock recovery.

Thanks for your response. I tried updating ROM via ODIN and was not successful. Always got stuck in boot logo after i flashed new ROM.
Is there a stock recovery I should flash over TWRP to try?
Thanks for your help.
I have never used encryption so I can't really help if there are specifics around that. What exactly are you trying to install through Odin? If it's the firmware such as THIS it should overwrite the custom recovery with the stock one. If the stock ROM isn't booting you might have to boot into recovery and factory reset/wipe dalvik cache. This is my first Samsung phone so if nothing helps someone else who'd like to offer their assistance would probably be more knowledgeable.
I was going back to stock, which I guess, was mostly successful. however, I've not been able to install new ROM, namely 4.4.2 I317UCUCNE5. so if I install from your link, that should overwrite custom recovery and allow me to upgrade to 4.4.2 ROM either OTA or via Odin?
Maybe? Using the OTA always tells me there isn't an update (cause I'm on T-Mobile I guess?) and I haven't seen any files to update to Kitkat firmware through Odin

Stuck in Download mode with Sprint Galaxy S3

Phone was rooted with a custom rom and custom recovery. I tried to do the OTA update to get the latest version of Android Stock and it failed. I downloaded Odin and tried to flash stock recovery and now its stuck in Download Mode.
I have tried all these roms with no success
https://rwilco12.com/downloads.php?dir=Files/Devices/Samsung Galaxy S3 (SPH-L710)/Stock ROMs/
I've tried 4-5 different versions of odin as well and everything fails.
If anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Holy cow. You cannot OTA update with custom ROM and recovery. Not possible. You need Odin with the whole stock ROM (which is KitKat). Ugh
You would have to flash the entire stock .tar in Odin.... Why? It's KitKat... 4.4.2. no security patches.
Flash TWRP and whatever custom ROM you were on.
No backup? It's difficult to help that

i do have a backup
If I could just get TWRP working I would be all set and minimum be back where I started.
I was able to fix the phone.
I installed Kies3Setup
I ran all the updates and then I uninstalled it.
I downloaded L710VPUDNJ2_L710SPRDNJ2_L710VPUDNJ2_HOME.tar.md5
I successfully loaded it in PDA with Odin3v185
hopefully this helps someone else who's stuck in download mode with a Sprint Galaxy s3
