Can i install 2.17 on my ONE X Middle East version - HTC One X

hi guys
i have ONE X Middle East version ( rooted / CWM / unlocked by HTCdev )... and i wanna install
new European update 2.17.XXX . l found it flash by recovery HERE
My question is can i install odexed version on my device normally without problems
or i should be install De-Odexed version .. and why that ?
Sorry for bad my english

That ROM both odexed or deodexed can be flashed via recovery on any One X on any region. It is a custom stock rom.
And don't forget to fastboot flash the boot.img

OK thanks .. but why With odexed version you can download and flash OTA from HTC
(you need stock boot.img and recovery.img as well) ..and not with De-Odexed version

Because the OTA itself is an odexed version.

someone answering me plz :crying:

If u use stock ROM you will receive OTA when it released
if you use custom ROM You WILL NOT RECEIVE any ota (odexed or deodexed)
If you use custom ROM odexed + ORGINAL Recovery +ORGINAL boot.img + THE ROM VER MATCH YOUR CID
then you may receive the OTA when HTC Release it
but in your case there is none custom ROM has ver x.xx.415.x which is Middle east ver

Hi,
Sorry if my questions would seem silly but I am new to Android
How can I kniw the below from my phone?
1. how can I know if my custom ROM is odexed or deodexed?
2. how to know if I have the ORGINAL Recovery +ORGINAL boot.img?
3. How to know if the ROM version matches my CID? or where to find my CID?
thanks.

1. If it's not the ROM the phone came on chances are it's deodexed
2. If you can flash a custom, it's not the stock recovery
3. CID Getter on the Play Store

Reinstall stock ROM

[Q] Need to flash a new boot.img?

Hi Guys,
I have a HTC One X with Optus software and it is already a 1.28 base, so my questions is this:
Do i need to flash the custom boot.img for any of the new 1.28 based custom roms like insert coins or android revolution etc?
My thoughts are if i already have a 1.28 base i can just install the custom rom through cwm.
cheers

You can flash any custom ROM you wish. Just make sure you flash boot.img first and then the custom ROM.

If the ROM dev has made any changes in boot.img then yes, you'll need to flash their version. If they're using a completely stock boot.img then you don't need to bother (although I'm not sure that there's many ROMs where that is the case).
ARHD and IC both definitely need the boot.img flashing.

[Q] Some questions before flashing Custom ROMs !!

Hi all, ..
I'm going to flash my first custom ROM on my One X but I want to ask some questions first ..
Before asking I'd like to tell you that ..
• My phone's CID is 1.29.708.15 (from Hong Kong)
• I know that we could flash any custom ROM even it wasn't based on the same CID
• I know that we couldn't downgrade the FW except when the phone is S-OFFed
1- Now if I flashed a ROM based on the latest Europe version (2.17.401.2) that means that my CID has changed and I could flash the latest stock RUU of Europe ??
2- If the answer of question 1 is NO then could I return back to my stock ROM even it's older than the custom ROM based on version ?? or my phone will brick ??
I want your help as soon as possible
And thanks to every one who had helped me before and thanks to that great forum

1.29.708.15 is not your CID. It's your software version.
If you flash a custom ROM based on 2.17.401.2, your CID will not change.
To return to stock, you can flash any 708 RUU that is the same or newer than 1.29.708.15, or restore the backup you make before installing the custom ROM.

No you can't, you need S-OFF... wrong section also...
That is my question, as far as I've read thanks google S Off doesn't work (yet?) for the HTC One X

You can unlock and install other ROMs on branded devices.
We're just having trouble with the Sense JB ROMs because they require an updated hboot, that cannot be installed onto the wrong CID which cannot be changed without S-Off.
Thanks

If you want a stock, unbranded HTC Sense ROM on your phone, your only current option it to flash Mike1986's STOCK ROM. It's based on the UK WWE Unbranded CID but can be flashed on any device with an unlocked bootloaded (via HTC Dev). The downside is that you will ahve to flash back to stock Vodafone ROM to get the Jellybean OTA when it's released, before you can flash Mike's JB roms.
I strongly suggest trying CyanogenMod 10 though. It's leagues above the HTC Sense based ROMs. I certainly wont be going back.
so let me see if i understand,
if i had Vodafone rom and I switch to stock (and unfortunately my CID still VODAP102), I won't get any JB update?

if you're on stock you'll get the JB update as soon as Vodafone releases it... you just need to wait

Yes. You won't be able to update via official OTA with that custom ROM. Unless you flash the custom ROM for JB when it gets released.
To get official OTA you need Vodafone's official ROM back.

Correct, unless you stay on your stock Vodafone ROM, you wont get the JB OTA.
If you use a custom Stock ROM, you wont receive any OTAs, and you'll end up having to return to the Vodaphone stock ROM anyway to upgrade you HBOOT when they release the JB update so you can run a sense enabled JB ROM.
Personally, I'd just go ahead and flash an AOSP or AOKP ROM. I'm on Official CyanogenMod 10 and love it

[KERNEL 3.1.10] HTC JB Base 3.17.xxx.x Stock & MIUI

Hi there,
lately there have been OTA updates for CID HTC__023 and TELNZ001 which brought a new base (3.17) and some troubles (touch not responding) when using old (3.14) based custom roms.
The OTA brought a hboot update including an update to the touchscreen controller and therefore it only works correctly when using the corresponding 3.17 base kernel.
As slowly various CIDs are getting OTA updates to new base with new touchscreen controller firmware, these devices will have touchscreen issues on 3.14 based roms. But this kernel will help those people out.
adamnz had the initial idea in the thread linked above to try the 3.17 kernel on a 3.14 rom, so I followed up and created a flashable zip with all neccessary modules for those who are stuck with stock HTC ROM atm.
As I am running sense based RD-MIUI, I created a MIUI compatible boot.img, too which incorporates some ramdisk tweaks as init.d-support (busybox run-parts), volume-wake-deep-sleep-fix and run shelld service to prevent MiuiHome FCs.
03.02.2013: Base 3.17.781.2 (CID TELNZ001)
Grab the flashable zip from here: endeavoru_base_3.17.781.2_kernel.zip
Thx to adamnz for providing the OTA file and yumcimil for a full nandroid backup. :highfive:
Base 3.17.728.1 (CID HTC__023)
Grab the flashable zip from here: endeavoru_base_3.17.728.1_kernel.zip
Infos on different boot images
boot.img is the fully untouched 3.17 stock kernel while boot_miui.img has some tweaks as described above.
As the tweaks in boot_miui.img should have no drawbacks when used with non-miui-rom (and users reported that the stock one does not work but the miui one does),
boot_miui.img is the prefered kernel even when not running MIUI (if you do not want to repack).
Repacking
As JB sense roms around use the HTC stock kernel, which ramdisk is quite the same compared to this kernel, you can easily repack this kernel with the one from your favourite ROM. Please use the boot.img for this instead of boot_miui.img and do not forget to flash the zip file with the modules. This way you get all the rom-specific features and tweaks the rom chef included in his ramdisk.
Installation
Make a nandroid before, flash zip from recovery, flash boot.img from within the zip via fastboot, wipe cache and reboot.
Re: [KERNEL][Base 3.17.728.1] HTC JB Stock & MIUI
Thanks for this!
Sent from my One X running Blade v4.6.0. At a mere 240 MB, with tons of AROMA Mods and tweaks, this, is what you want.
Confirmed working with ViperX 3.3.2 using boot_miui.img, on HTC__023.
Touch works
cheers
Working with insert coin 15.1.1 with vid HTC_001!!
fantastic!
Works very well with Blade v4.6.0 (de-sensed) on HTC__023. Battery drain is less than 0.5% per hour in deep sleep.

Yeah, this kernel works with all CIDs, but there are no real improvements. At least I did not notice any.
But for those with CID 023 and latest OTA update (3.17) this kernel allows them to use 3.14 based roms again. :good:

You would need to unlock your bootloader via htcdev, flash custom recovery and then flash the kernel zip in recovery and the kernel image in bootloader with fastboot.

What CID do you have?
The offical 3.17 base update only rolled out for CID HTC_023 atm. As this update brought something new to the touchscreen controller, this 3.17 kernel is needed to run 3.14 based roms.
If you have a CID different from HTC_023 (OR did not yet installed the official 3.17 OTA), running this kernel will not change anything regarding to your problem. But of course you can try, it will not cause any harm. Just follow the instructions in OP.
EDIT: Just overread the STOCK in your post. Need to grab a cup of coffee.
But gffmac is right: Just need to mention that unlocking the bootloader will wipe your /data-Partition (userdata).

It's unlikely to fix a touchscreen problem that was present on a stock rom especially if you haven't unlocked it previously. You maybe have a hardware problem with it

Yes, you just need to do what's in this thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37189072 and then read this thread for AOSP 4.4.4 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48895795 or search for other Custom ROM's in Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 Android Developement and follow the instructions that are included in those threads.

If you what to install 4.4.4 custom ROMs you need Jelly Bean (JB) at first!
You are still on Gingerbread (Baseband XXLL2 is GB)
1) Flash JB FW accoring to your Phone (http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I8160 - I8160XXNB1 or I8160XXNF2)
2) Flash TEMP CWM via Stock Recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141395)
3) Flash 4.4.4 custom ROM you like via temp CWM
An seperate rooting is not needed because almost any Custom ROM has Root integrated.
