Hello a noob question for you guys.
I see some custom ROMS (if not every one) says that you have to have a certain radio version or newer.
then again I see stock ROMS often has a radio version in the file name.
Does that mean that the stock ROMS include the proper radio ? and that i dont need to find a radio seperately ?
thanks
Yes, stock roms such as this RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122704.exe include an associated radio also.
If you flash a custom rom from the stock rom, you will always have the default stock radio version (e.g. 32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11) installed unless you flash a newer radio rom yourself.
You will find that the selection of custom roms will be without radio versions, and the OP will normally provide links to the recommended radio versions that will work with that associated rom, for performance and functionality purposes.
thank you for helpfull info
another one for you
if i want to downgrade to stock sometime, wil the "old" version of the radio overwrite the newer one i might have installed with a custom ROM ?

If you flash back to a stock rom with the radio version included, then you will also have stock rom and radio installed. The rom image and radio image will be replaced to stock firmware.
You could even flash the stock radio rom individually, list of stock radio's here:

No problem bud
Quick question leading on from this...if you flash a new radio, does it delete all your apps and settings like when you flash a new rom, or do they survive?
Cheers.

No, the radio is written to a seperate part of the device, and does not interfere with the OS portion.
So here is a question that I cannot find the answer to. If a ROM like Android Revolution HD is based off the 1.29.401.12 Firmware and I have a 1.29.707.11 based phone, can I install the ROM? I know I would have to unlock and install a custom recovery, but is it possible? I ask because I thought I read somewhere you cant mix firmware updates (ie x.xx.401.xx and x.xx.707.xx) without S-Off or it would cause problems.
Thanks in advance!!

There should be no problem to install latest ARHD ROM. I did it many times coming from stock with different numbers. Any way most of your stock files are reflashed by ROM files. ARHD is universal ROM for any HOX Internatioanal versions.
Since you are replacing the whole firmware, the version of the one you are replacing should not matter.
However, make sure that the new ROM has support for your specific hardware!

Thanks, I shall try the ROM this weekend or next!!
Hi all, ..
I'm going to flash my first custom ROM on my One X but I want to ask some questions first ..
Before asking I'd like to tell you that ..
• My phone's CID is 1.29.708.15 (from Hong Kong)
• I know that we could flash any custom ROM even it wasn't based on the same CID
• I know that we couldn't downgrade the FW except when the phone is S-OFFed
1- Now if I flashed a ROM based on the latest Europe version (2.17.401.2) that means that my CID has changed and I could flash the latest stock RUU of Europe ??
2- If the answer of question 1 is NO then could I return back to my stock ROM even it's older than the custom ROM based on version ?? or my phone will brick ??
I want your help as soon as possible
And thanks to every one who had helped me before and thanks to that great forum

1.29.708.15 is not your CID. It's your software version.
If you flash a custom ROM based on 2.17.401.2, your CID will not change.
To return to stock, you can flash any 708 RUU that is the same or newer than 1.29.708.15, or restore the backup you make before installing the custom ROM.

Thanks very mush & sorry for my annoying questions
Hi there,
lately there have been OTA updates for CID HTC__023 and TELNZ001 which brought a new base (3.17) and some troubles (touch not responding) when using old (3.14) based custom roms.
The OTA brought a hboot update including an update to the touchscreen controller and therefore it only works correctly when using the corresponding 3.17 base kernel.
As slowly various CIDs are getting OTA updates to new base with new touchscreen controller firmware, these devices will have touchscreen issues on 3.14 based roms. But this kernel will help those people out.
adamnz had the initial idea in the thread linked above to try the 3.17 kernel on a 3.14 rom, so I followed up and created a flashable zip with all neccessary modules for those who are stuck with stock HTC ROM atm.
As I am running sense based RD-MIUI, I created a MIUI compatible boot.img, too which incorporates some ramdisk tweaks as init.d-support (busybox run-parts), volume-wake-deep-sleep-fix and run shelld service to prevent MiuiHome FCs.
03.02.2013: Base 3.17.781.2 (CID TELNZ001)
Grab the flashable zip from here: endeavoru_base_3.17.781.2_kernel.zip
Thx to adamnz for providing the OTA file and yumcimil for a full nandroid backup. :highfive:
Base 3.17.728.1 (CID HTC__023)
Grab the flashable zip from here: endeavoru_base_3.17.728.1_kernel.zip
Infos on different boot images
boot.img is the fully untouched 3.17 stock kernel while boot_miui.img has some tweaks as described above.
As the tweaks in boot_miui.img should have no drawbacks when used with non-miui-rom (and users reported that the stock one does not work but the miui one does),
boot_miui.img is the prefered kernel even when not running MIUI (if you do not want to repack).
Repacking
As JB sense roms around use the HTC stock kernel, which ramdisk is quite the same compared to this kernel, you can easily repack this kernel with the one from your favourite ROM. Please use the boot.img for this instead of boot_miui.img and do not forget to flash the zip file with the modules. This way you get all the rom-specific features and tweaks the rom chef included in his ramdisk.
Installation
Make a nandroid before, flash zip from recovery, flash boot.img from within the zip via fastboot, wipe cache and reboot.
Re: [KERNEL][Base 3.17.728.1] HTC JB Stock & MIUI
Thanks for this!
Sent from my One X running Blade v4.6.0. At a mere 240 MB, with tons of AROMA Mods and tweaks, this, is what you want.
Confirmed working with ViperX 3.3.2 using boot_miui.img, on HTC__023.
Touch works
cheers
Working with insert coin 15.1.1 with vid HTC_001!!
fantastic!
Works very well with Blade v4.6.0 (de-sensed) on HTC__023. Battery drain is less than 0.5% per hour in deep sleep.

Yeah, this kernel works with all CIDs, but there are no real improvements. At least I did not notice any.
But for those with CID 023 and latest OTA update (3.17) this kernel allows them to use 3.14 based roms again. :good:

Thanks for trying this one out and reporting back. Really much appreciated.

You would need to unlock your bootloader via htcdev, flash custom recovery and then flash the kernel zip in recovery and the kernel image in bootloader with fastboot.

What CID do you have?
The offical 3.17 base update only rolled out for CID HTC_023 atm. As this update brought something new to the touchscreen controller, this 3.17 kernel is needed to run 3.14 based roms.
If you have a CID different from HTC_023 (OR did not yet installed the official 3.17 OTA), running this kernel will not change anything regarding to your problem. But of course you can try, it will not cause any harm. Just follow the instructions in OP.
EDIT: Just overread the STOCK in your post. Need to grab a cup of coffee.
But gffmac is right: Just need to mention that unlocking the bootloader will wipe your /data-Partition (userdata).

It's unlikely to fix a touchscreen problem that was present on a stock rom especially if you haven't unlocked it previously. You maybe have a hardware problem with it

Of course you need a jb compatible hboot the run this kernel.
Working fine on Venom ViperX JB 3.3.2
CID: H3G__001
HBOOT: 1.39
What's battery life using this on Viper like compared to Skydragon?
Hey guys, im new to HTC , been a user of sony phones for 2 years.
Now a user of the htc one m8.
i have unlocked my bl, s-off, rooted and also running a custom kernel (ElementalX).
I see that there are different versions of the phone (i mean, GPE and normal).
I have the normal version (sense based), i would like to flash the faux kernel. Can i know the latest available version for the faux kernel that can be flashed to this stock rom i have now?(updated to 1.56.720.6 software number) (Im from India and i can use any sim here)
Will flashing the "GPE" tagged kernels from faux kernel thread brick this phone? (soft-brick?)
Thanks to anyone in advance who would be kind enough to help me out coz this is my first HTC device.

A Sense 6 ROM requires a kernel designed for Sense 6. The GPE kernels won't work.
Thank you for the reply!
