I've been using Svoice on my S3 since I got it a month ago...recently whenever I try to use it to listen to music.. "listen to...", "play....", it doesn't work. The app will hang and then crash.
I also noticed that before, the commands would be "behind"...I'd tell it to play Eminem, and it'd play something random. Then I'd tell it to play Billy Joel, and it would play Eminem. Then I'd tell it to play Taylor Swift, and it'd play Billy Joel etc
what should I do? I was running stock after rooting and had these problems. Then I switched to KyanRom and the issues continued after installing SVoice.

I just rooted my friends Verizon Nexus a few weeks ago.
She said that her Play music app doesn't work.
It shows the library but when a track is selected it doesn't work.
Uninstalled app and re installed but the problem persists.
She gave Google a call and they told her it's because she's rooted.
She on stock 4.0.2 I believe.
Also her Spotify has a similar problem.
Anyone else experience this?
I've been on a rooted GSM nexus since march. I use the play music app everyday. Check if the music is available online or whatever it's called. Idk why but when I switched from my sgs2 to he nexus, my music was all greyed out, but in menu/settings, I just had to change the setting.

Google play video rentals won't work on a rooted phone (for the most part). Music should work just fine.
How did you root your friends phone?
Google music works fine for me rooted. Something must glitched on her phone. Root certainly doesn't matter.
She needs to go to the play music site and remove some of the devices she syncs to.
I haz no sig
Thanks for the suggestions.
Will report back.
I do have a way around the movie rentals.
Went to the Play Music site and de authorized 2 old nexus profiles.
Finally flashed a custom rom onto the phone (CM9 RC1)
Logged into Play Music onto the fresh rom and still a no go.
Library loaded up but songs do not play.
Just shows the little spinning circle for like a second
Her Play Music account works on her unrooted Transformer Prime.
Am I missing something?
She's on a Verizon Galaxy Nexus btw.
Anyone else have this weirdness? Im a longtime Google Music user. On the Note 2, everytime I use the app to play music, it starts downloading my whole 30 gig library to the phone. I have to force stop it through the app manager. Never happened with my other phones or any custom or stock ROMs. Thanks for any input.

Uninstall/reinstall fixed it for me.....very noobish I know.
I have been searching everywhere and have not found a solution to this, so I apologize if I missed it somewhere. As I've learned and have read from others, S-Voice is crap! Google Now is much MUCH better at voice recognition, particularly with names. The problem is, over bluetooth, my voice commands are only picked up by S-Voice. Google Now gets stuck at the "Initializing" then says "Didn't catch that" and closes. I've gotten it to intermittently work with Utter!, but I can't rely on that. Google Now works great over headphones or from the phone itself. It's just over Bluetooth when it doesn't work. After researching I'm almost convinced Samsung (or Vlingo) set it up that way; it's as if the mic is disabled with any app other than S-Voice. My question is, has anyone figured out how to get Google Now, or any other voice app for that matter, to be recognized over bluetooth?
I'm running stock JB with root (fyi, this was going on before I rooted). I know it'll probably work just fine if I flashed CM10, but I actually like the setup I have.
Edit: After looking more, I found this thread. I tested out turning off the "Media Audio" and Google Now works, but in further investigating when I click the button on my bluetooth, it's the voice dialer that pops up and that is what doesn't work, not Google Now. I can't see, to figure out how to get Google Now to show up and not voice dialer.
Edit 2: I forgot to mention I'm using a Motorola Roadster bluetooth speaker, but I don't think that's the problem.
Same issue here. Exists on every rom I try. Bluetooth in general is buggy as heel on the S3. It's really disappointing. I don't see many answers here on XDA...
Same here and I am on a new s2 ROM sbean v12 any fix would be great

After installing the new Google Music update from the play store, the app won't open on my xperia play at all (white screen to force close). Checked store comments and there's at least one other xp user with the same problem. Anyone here experiencing this? If so, is there a fix? I've got an R800x with stock rooted 2.3.3

I'm having the same problem. R800at. It worked for a little bit after update but it seemed to crash once i tapped my account and it (presumably) started to download my data from the server. After that, it just forces close every time I started it.
I downgraded back to the last good version:

Yeah, mine crashes the same way. Anyone know if other devices are reporting this or just xplay? It really sucks because I depend on Google Music so much
Hey all, since I rooted and installed bonestock I've been getting errors when playing content on google play movies.
Specifically I'm getting error 31 - "there was a problem while playing, touch to retry". The movies won't even start, it's very disappointing considering I love consuming media on the One. Anyone else had this problem or figured out a workaround?

I've been away from flashing ROM's until recently, and unless I'm mistaken, you CANNOT use Google Play Movies on a rooted phone.

wuuuuut really? Man I was thinking about buying one recently but since you said that forget it lol
I get the same error. However, casting to Chromecast on TV from the phone still works so it's not a huge deal. I've read that the error happens on non-rooted phones too, so hopefully Google and/or HTC will fix this.
I ended up calling Google support and they gave me a full refund on a TV series I had purchased. Apparently they are working on a fix for the app, but could not give me an estimated fix date.
It happened to me as well when I installed 1.2. I got an error upon setting the phone up that said I was missing Google Services. I restored stock and reflashed 1.2 and the issue didn't arise again.

Not true. Use play movies on Bonestock 1.2 all the time.

I've been getting error 31 with Google Play Movies since I rooted my HTC One as well. The first time it happened about 15 minutes into a rented movie. It won't play it or anything else since then. When it happened the first time, I was on the stock ROM. Now I'm on Ecliptic-One Inverted and it's still giving me the error. FWIW I contacted Google and they said the phone was not compatible. I'm not buying that because it worked before I rooted. I'm willing to try Bonestock if it works, but I don't see what the difference would be since they're both based off of the stock HTC Sense.
