I recently purchased an original c pen made in korea from ebay and it is unresponsive and when in s memo for example , to draw a line it draws and in the middle of drawing it stops and then continues to draw again.
In messaging when i press on buttons most of the time keys are not pressed
But metal tip of c pen works pretty well unlike rubber tip.i have to press a bit hard to get it to workn
I dont see any problems in touch test in *#0*# test menu.
Any suggestions?

A) Take off your screen protector
B) Buy an original C-pen
C) Hope for the better ?
I use no protector
Pen is original with hologram from samsung
Can it be because of firmware or touch driver?

The S3 is simply not optimised for stylii input, unlike the Notes. JB and Project Butter will make response better though.
But line drawing stopping in the middle? That's just weird really. Try updating firmware. Personally I'm using an Adonnit Jot and besides ****ty slow drawing response, I have no issues.
The C in C-Pen stands for crap. I bought 2 of them and both of them don't work properly on the two GS3's in my house. I sent them back and got a refund. I can't believe they did any testing of these on a GS3. Samsung's quality control on their accessories is nonexistent. I haven't bothered with a stylus now as I don't like large tipped ones. My finger is the best pen money can't buy.

Sure. But the S3 lacks the hardware to make full use of the APIs IINM. Plus the screen is simply not quick enough.
What I mean by JB making it better is that when butter makes sure that screen refresh is quick, drawing (with a stylus) should be too.
I have one from China and work like a charm
I've got one (Saumsung sticker) made in Korea, and it stinks.
I wonder if the ones made in Korea are inferior to those made in China.
(when I breath on the tip to warm it up it works a little better)
I figured since the human finger is a lot warmer than a stylus...

It's not becsuse you're warming up the nib. It's becsuse your warm breath is condensing on the colder nib. This increases it's conductivity.... which is everything on a capacitive touchscreen.

I've been looking into getting a stylus? What are your thoughts? Do all of them have round blunt ends? this is the one I was looking at...
http://www.wacom.com/en/Products/BambooStylus.aspx
Yes, they all have round blunt ends. Some are better than others but there's really nothing you can do about it with a capacitive screen.
You are never going to get anywhere near the accuracy you would get with an active digitizer. Also, you'll never have any sort of pressure sensitivity.
so personally, I don't think it's worth it but I'm probably not the best person to give you advice. I am user of windows tablets with active digitizers(wacom and n-trig) so I will never have any respect for capacitive styli. then again, they're pretty cheap and they do work to some extent so I guess you can't really lose.
I'll stick with my fujitsu t5010 for now and I'll probably get a fujitsu q550, motion computing cl900 or asus ep121 soon. If I really wanted to take notes with an android tablet, I'd get the htc flyer(it has an n-trig digitizer) but the note taking software for android is really quite pathetic compared to something like one note for windows.
don't get me wrong here. I'm a huge fan of android. I actually write android tablet apps for a living. there's a lot of things android tablets do well but note taking is not one of those things.
Just make sure you get one with rubber tip and not foam.

That's because the flyer has a n-trig active digitizer. The galaxy tab, however, certainly does not.
I use a Targus stylus from time to time on my XOOM and my Galaxy Tab 7.
The primary advantage for me is fingerprint reduction. Its nice to clean the screen and have it stay clean for a while. Try eating Pizza and poking your tablet's screen with your finger!
Accuracy is better with a stylus, however in terms of speed, fingers are generally faster.

You'll like it. It's very precise and matches the build quality of the targus one.
You can make a good stylus out of an aluminum pen or hollow aluminum tube (from a telescopic mirror or an antenna) and some conductive foam squeezed into the end. there are tutorials on youtube. You should be able to get the foam from a computer supply shop or you can order it for cheap on ebay

Does anyone know if the Galaxy S pen will work with our T-989 and if there is a way to port that software onto our phones or will it be included in our ICS update? The reason I ask is because i hate using my fingers to draw something in the drawsomething app. I love that app but would like to make my drawings better. So will the S pen be compatible???
I think the S pen is just like any other stylus..not sure tho..if you have some sort of stylus lying and try that and see if that works..

That is not correct. The S-Pen is a Wacom digitizer pen that does not work on a our compasitive screens. The wacom feature allows for pressure sensitive versus heat sensitive

That is interesting but I'm not sure I want to try so I'll take your word for it. And thanks everyone for the replies.....it's a little confusing to say the least. I was hoping for better news that would allow us to use a stylus. Maybe something will come up. Who knows.....
The note has two digotozers that allow for input through fingers and the s pen stylus. It has to be s pen because it is a different type of stylus so normal run off the mill styluses won't work. Same deal with us, but we only have one digitzer for input from finger only. So neither s pen nor stylus will work unless you get the one made for capacitive screens which are nit accurate at all.

The Note is marketed to a specific segment, completely different from the Galaxy S line of phones. The Note uses a Wacom digitizer for the stylus that is much more precise, whereas the S3 uses a traditional capacitive pen because it isn't marketed to have the same kind of stylus functionality as the Note (and the Wacom digitizer does add a certain amount cost) - otherwise they'd include the stylus with the S3 the same way it's included with the Note.
Actually, the C-Pen is more than a regular capacitive stylus since it apparently doesn't work with other capacitive screens for some reason, but the principle is still the same. It's like wondering why your cell phone is missing the nice 10 inch screen from a tablet.

It is a step backwards. Sure the Note was a niche market, but they didn't skimp on the stylus for it. SMemo and SNote can't be the same with the CPen. IMO they should've stuck with the design even if it is an optional accessory. It adds more functionality.

I just don't like the implication through omission of details Samsung are making that this is like the S Pen, I mean I just think they want to trick people to believing this can do the same job as S Pen because obviously it's got a similar name and they making no effort to explain it.

Adding the Wacom digitizer adds cost to the phone, so the phone would have cost more with it included. It makes sense to not include it when this is marketed to those wanting a regular phone, whereas those that are looking for specific stylus functionality can go to the Note.

Hello everyone!
I just received my Samsung S Pen Holder Kit. It arrived with a stylus that looks to be made for the Galaxy note S3.
The seller on ebay stated that it is fine to use on GN 10.1. It has, or what looks to be a nylon tip and the instructions state that it is non-replaceable.
It works and responds great and the Stylus button responds as well.
My question is, will this tip cause problems on the screen in terms of scratching, gouging, etc?
Thanks.
Mine has the same tip as yours and has not caused any problems so far for me, but I just got mine too .

I was concerned over the differences on the tips.

The biggest problem is my wife see's the s-pen and picks it up and starts to use it... not good!
I was just wondering this. That pen was actually made for the Note 5.3". The reason why I'm doubting this is because Sammy did change the tip on the 10.1 pen...its a softer tip. Maybe they changed it because it does scratch? 5.3" users did report some scratching. I think im gonna stop using it and get the real 10.1 S pen holder.

you do know that the note 10.1 stylus (that was included with your tablet) has white nylon nibs as well, right? They came in a little baggie. The nib alone shouldn't scratch it as it's hardness is much lower. get a piece of grit stuck between the nib and screen though and all bets are off.

Not quite sure what you mean by a "pressure pen", but the Nexus 7 screen is capacitance, not pressure. If you touch it with a hard, non-conductive object, nothing will happen. The stylus type pens work because they can conduct your fingers to the surface of the tablet (simplified explanation, don't flame me!). You can also try to operate the tablet with gloves on to see that the "contact" of your fingers is necessary to get the touchscreen to operate.
What I meant was for drawing a stulis like from a note 8?

The N7 doesn't have the hardware to support pens like the note 8 does. You won't get any of the pressure sensitivity that they/wacom pens get.
The only pens you can use with the N7 are going to be the capacitive touch pens, which just emulate your finger.

You can sort of guess the amount of pressure being applied by a finger based on the size of the touch (if you lightly touch it's small, if you press hard it's bigger as your finger squashes against the screen). So it is, sort of, touch sensitive, but if you used a stylus with a non-soft end it won't detect an increase in pressure.

Pressure sensitivity works beautifully in Photoshop Touch with a Wacom stylus (or S-Pen) on my Note 10.1.
Conversely, finger (or capacitive stylus) pressure in PS Touch on my N7 makes no difference. Not even a little bit. As already posted by others, the N7 just doesn't have the technology to do what you're asking.
Yeah, The N7 (and most other Android devices) don't have the hardware necessary for pressure sensitivity. If that's important to you, look in the direction of the Galaxy Note line of devices, or anything that advertises Wacom digitizer support. They exist, but are far and few between. This is one in particular that comes to mind, albeit with a hefty $1500-1600 price tag.
On a somewhat related note, the Adonit Jot Pro stylus works beautifully on the N7 (among any other capacitive touchscreen), so while it may not be pressure sensitive, it's pretty good for rough sketches or handwriting. If you're looking for a fine point stylus, look no further. One thing to mention though, is the sensitivity wears off after a couple weeks. Remove the plastic tip and put on very tiny bit of conductive thermal paste (think Arctic Silver 5) on the tip, then replace the plastic tip again. It's smooth sailing from there.
Its been almost a month I have with my N7(2013) and its working really very fine...in the beginning it had some issues in GPS...I also thought to use of a S-pen with it but not sure about the touch screen compatibility..if someone has tried to use something like then please do update with the reviews....

Have you read the rest of the thread? No, the S-Pen will not work. It's not just about the pen. Devices that use digitizer pens have an extra layer on the screen that allows the pens to do their magic. That layer is simply non-existent on the nexus 7.
This is why the note 8 costs more....
I've got a Wacom bamboo pocket and have to say that using my fingers works much better. Are all stylus ' like that or are there better ones?

I have a few different rubber tipped stylists and they do not work half as good as the micro fiber mesh tipped ones do.
Where can I get those?

It's not necessarily the android device that needs the hardware - in Wacom tablets (as in bamboo, intuos etc., not Android tablets) the pressure sensitivity comes from the pen itself, not the tablet surface. While there's nothing on the market at the moment (?) that doesn't mean there never can be for the likes of the N7, where the pen would have the pressure sensitive hardware and then the tablet would just require the necessary hardware.
Adonit now sells the Jot Script Fine Point stylus. However, this only works with iPhone for now and kinda expensive.
I sold my Note 8.0 because I am getting the N7 LTE (if I can find one in Best Buy!) and planning to get this. Best of both world: pure Android AND stylus that is accurate.

These look great, but the lack of Android support right out of the gate really has me sour on Evernote. I just don't think there is any excuse for releasing something like this as ios only. Unless they are purposely trying to alienate Android users. Not that I'm saying that's what they are doing, but it was a pretty stupid business decision regardless.
I am hoping it will eventually be usable on Android, but I haven't seen a single mention of future Android support.
Boo to you, Evernote.
