i have more than 800 posts, and i can't post my ROM port in the dev section, why is that? when i press submit the thread disappears.
please help.
I think the forums were having issues. When I could refresh, the posts wouldn't show the most recent post. I had posted around 830am, but the thread showed last post as 645am. ( I don't know the exact time, just guessing).
I just refreshed and they updated now. Might have just been a hiccup. Try again.
it's fixed now
please note that the double post in the dev section is due to this xda server bug.

Please allow posters to close their own threads and delete double posts. It's ridiculous not to have this feature!!!
What is so harmful about us closing our own threads?
I think it is beneficial, for example:
1) OP feels harassed: closes thread
2) OP learns that there was already another, more prominent thread of the same issue: closes thread
3) OP wants too closes his upcoming software update but doesn't want to read other's post issues that he has fixed on the next version.
etc...
Why can't we close our own threads? Delete our own posts?
For ***sakes look at these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4120834#post4120834
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=535393&highlight=deleted
If you aren't going to implement this then atleast tell us why in the world we can't delete our posts!
Here is my previous thread posted at the wrong forum:

After reading Mike´s post it is clear that the best and easyest way is to click on the red button asking an experienced Mod to do the action, otherwise it can be a democratic chaos...
Just my opinion.

It sounds obvious that you should be able to delete your own posts. However, it can cause chaos! Once you create a thread you do not own it, particularly if other users have contributed posts to the thread.

I agree, Just because you posted a thread, doesn't mean it's your thread. This is a community with no personal ownership of posts or threads.

Deleting the first post in a thread deletes the whole thread. This could be a long running thread with many posts and pages. To allow this thread to suddenly vanish because the OP deletes the first post can upset many contributing users.

However, it's relatively easy to have the odd post removed by clicking on the report post (red triangle) that appears on all posts. All you need do is say something like "please delete my double post" or "delete my post it's in the wrong forum" etc etc

Once again I reinforce Mike's statement. The Mods are here to assist you, please make use of our services.

There are also a couple of other fiddly reasons why it's best for a Mod to delete posts - one is that a Mod can also move the post to Trash. You may not know that deleted posts are still visible to Mods and leaving them kicking around forums makes things look very messy to Mods even if other users see a nice tidy board. Another reason not to allow user delete is that a very few users could use this to cover up "provocative posting" or just to cause trouble with other members. (You can imagine for example, that a ROM thread suddenly disappearing because the cook is bored with it could lead to lots of frustration amongst users and extra work for Admin and Mods.)
Just use the report icon or contact a Mod - quick and easy

Just basically report to mods is the summation here.
Got a question about deleting a post:
Once a post is deleted, then all posts after it in the same thread will be changed a post#. E.g, if post#2 is deleted, then post#3 became #2, #4 become #3 etc. But if the original post#3 is cross-linked to another thread using the 'view single post' function. In such a case, will the cross-link url address be updated accordingly?
The link will be to the deleted post, no re-shuffle will occur.
The URL is showpost.php and p=4153097 ("p" is the post number, not the thread number, that will be "t").
Here is one I deleted from this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4153097&postcount=6
As a moderator, I can see deleted posts. Try that URL above
Dave
In the above case, seems you deleted the whole thread. This is the url you pointed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4153097&postcount=6,
And I can not access these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4153097&postcount=5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4153097&postcount=7
My question is for example in this thread we are talking in,
if you deleted this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4121794&postcount=3.
But I already crosslinked this post (next one to the deleted) with this url: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4132664&postcount=4.
So my above url will become this post, is that right?
BTW, sometimes I can see the contents of deleted post from a google search result.
Edit: Ok, seems I got it, you said no re-shuffle. That means if #3 deleted, , #5 is still #5, so there is no influance on crosslink address of posts. Thanks.
OK I think this thread could be a good asset to help out this section and prevent new post asking the same questions. A similar thread in Chefs Central for Windows has done very well. See the thread here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713447
When you have a problem issue or Request Title you thread appropriately:
[Problem]
[REQ]
etc.
When your problem has been solved edit your first post with the fix and change the Title to SOLVED.
This way a moderator can copy and link to this problem as solved. This will help others to find answers to known problems in one place.
I think this should also be a Sticky thread.
Does this mean no Q&A section like in the g1 forums?

I noticed that I cannot post in certain threads. They should be available though. For example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786503
Which is in the Q&A section of the device.
It shouldn't be my post count - I've been here a while now.
It keeps asking for my user/pass. I've reset it a couple times and the same thing. I can create THIS post though... so I'm not sure what's going on anymore.

I have seen that before with a few other people recently, it is probably due to the infrastructure stuff the admins have been working on. I suggest sending a PM to MikeChannon.
This is a wonderful place, I have found, downloaded and tried many ROMs here.
This place also help me to improve my technology so well.
So, I can't wait to register.
But after I have some registered, I want to post a new replay in some threads to tell them some bugs of their ROM, like this one , I have been blocked.
So, I have a little bit upset, because I can't wait to discuss the issue with the thread holder.
Please help me to get ten post so that I can post my bug report as soon as possible.

You can PM the ROM dev to inform a bug report or a solution if its not already suggested in thread by some other user.. which will be the case usually..
otherwise you can go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2054 and help other users in Q & A section to get your 10 posts.. please dont create threads to get 10 posts though..

i have to agree with this, PM is the fastest way to inform a bug when you are not allow to post in the thread yet. I have this issue too, even though i have years of experiences in other forums. but rules are rules, have to follow it.:good:
My favourite rom development site
I have tried a few roms on this site (HTC One V). I have to say many thanks to developers working hard on those roms, because they are all great!
i'm sorry to ask you a noob question but................ i remember that in the past time i used this forum as all other forums. every thread has 1 post, 2nd post 3...... and so on.....
but recently i can only see the initial popst, and to see every reply i need to press next button that's just aoutside a squared box where i see every person thatposted something.
i tried to check every setting on the forum.... i can't find a solution so see this xda forum as every forum..... with all post in one page!!

Which XDA Theme are you using?
Never faced this problem. .strange
@realista87,
Can you please show us a screenshot of it?
I know you said you went through every settings in the forum.. but can you please go through all the options under "THREAD DISPLAY OPTIONS" in here again - just to be sure?
And one more thing.. what theme are you using? (choose either XDA 2013 and 2015 if you're using a different one)
thank you to all. @Sami Kabir i entered in your link and i edited that options.... i previously DID NOT TOUCH them.
Then i solve my problem and forum returned to be normal with all posts in the thread. BUT...................................... it's strange. I returned to the old settings and now don'0t return like before.
i only changed Number of Posts to Show Per Page, from default to 50., and Default Thread Age Cut Off from default to all threads.
.....not i returned all options like before but problem disappeared. i think it's a little bug..... i use chrome browser.
