Running jellybean, when a group text is sent it comes up as individual messages Instead actual group message
Is there an alternate apk I could flash ? I think Motorola Atrix gets them fine.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm not sure if this is a ROM issue or a general issue so I'm posting in both locations to get more coverage.
I've been running Newt's GPE ROM for a while now with very few problems and am very satisfied. However, today I received what I believe is a group message from several iPhones that my friends own. Only one of the messages actually got through, the rest just show delivery reports and empty messages. I am able to get messages from single iPhones and am also fairly sure I can do group messaging with several other android devices.
I'm using the Google default messaging app, and have allowed group message SMS. Any insight as to what is going on?
It had been a long time issue with the android not able to receive group messages even with group message setting enabled (only send to multiple recipients and to receive under multiple threads).
I migrated from DanDroid 4.1.2 to Sutan ROM 4.3 and I was able to send & to receive group messages from multiple people under ONE thread. I had been tried to find a method for group messaging under 1 threads, but it wasn't very successful.
I really don't like third party apps as much either. What are you experience with group messaging with the new 4.3 update?
I use the stockmod ROM(November build) and it works just fine.
Although if you use Tablet Talk, some of your texts will come out blank(not all, some) when you send a message through a tablet. It was flawless on AOSP but it is what it is.
If you don't use Tablet Talk, disregard the 2nd part.

This feels like such a noob question but I'm at a loss. I know group messaging has been baked into the latest release but it doesn't seem to be working right.
I have the group messaging option turned on in my settings and I can send a group text just fine. But when I receive a group message it looks like a normal text message. I can't see who the other recipients are and so I can't respond to anyone but the person who sent that text.
I've noticed the same thing on several different S3 phones running 4.3 so I feel like either I am doing something wrong or "group messaging" doesn't work the way I expect it to. Are we only able to send group texts but not receive them? What gives?
Thanks.

I have the Verizon version of the S3, so I'm not sure if they behave the same. I went into my messing app, hit the menu to get settings and have the option for "Group Conversations" "Send messages as group conversations by default" checked...mine works just fine. When I get a group text, I have an option to switch it from MMS to SMS and have it be an individual text.
Does anyone else have this problem of the group chat not working properly? Im in a group chat on the stock messaging app and each time i get a message, it rather sends it to me individually rather then in the group chat itself. And it also says something weird like "Couldn't download MMS. Touch to download again. Size 1KB. Expires: ......". If i try sending a message it gives me a red exclamation point also. After awhile i get the message but like a day later. Not really the point of group texts lol. I've tried using hangouts but that gives me the same problem. Could it be the APN?

It could be the APN partly. I've seen that if I use IPv4/IPv6 rather than just the IPv6 it doesn't download or send properly. As far as group messaging make sure it's enabled in the texting app, settings, mms settings, group messaging.

I'm running stock Oreo 8.0.0 on Samsung S9 using the bundled texting app.
When I receive group texts from an iPhone user, I only see myself as a recipient; the other recipients aren't listed.
Also when I reply to what I happen to know is a group text, my reply only goes to the sender rather than to the group members.
Is there a setting I'm missing or do I need to use a different text messaging app?
I use the default messaging app on my stock S9 (VZW) and I don't have this problem. Half my family use Android-based phones and the others use iPhones. Our group conversation work just fine. However, all of the group conversation I am involved in include people already in my contacts. I'm wondering if your missing recipients is related to who is in your contacts?

Nope, the problem shows up even with those in my contact list.
Maybe I'll try a random texting app and see what happens.
Other apps exhibit the same problem. Anyone have any insight into this problem?
