Guys,
I'm on Wicked V1 I love the rom great battery life and very stable.. My problem is that I've been getting about 13mb Download which is ok but my Upload is only 512Kbps.. Why do you think my data is acting this way?
The download got a bit faster after installing a new radio but not the upload..

I doubt your Rom has anything to do with it just my $0.02

Ha ha ha ha..... 02 I like that.... More than likely it has to do with my kernel...

Are you underclocked?(Ive noticed that being underclocked slowed my connection speed) What modem are you on?
You could try editing this line in your build.prop.
Ro.ril.hsupa.category=
I find 8 works best for me but 7 and 9 work well too. 9 is the highest category I've verified but 10 did pretty well on my phone.
Mine was worse than yours and I now get 2-4 mb uplink pretty consistantly.
Reboot after changing the value. Then test.
Use root explorer or super manager to browse to the file and edit it if possible. And always have a recent nandroid handy...just in case.

Also data problem
I hope this post is okay to be here. Can't find help anywhere else. I am running Wicked_JB v2. My baseband is T999UVLJ4. On T-mobile in Georgia, USA. This is about the 4th custom ROM I've had on my Galaxy S3. I really like it because it is custom but keeps some TouchWiz features that I actually like. My problem is that now the data signal in the notification bar is showing G where I used to always get Edge. I'm not sure if the G is misleading and I'm still on Edge or if I am truly not getting Edge service. I haven't yet been to an area where I used to get 3G, so I don't know if this is working. I have no problem with WiFi. I didn't flash any different kernel or radio. I'm not super comfortable with that. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I am loving this ROM and hope I can get this small problem resolved.
Related
Now what? I used the toolbox which makes rooting and flashing way more useful then what I was used to with my fascinate.
I'm not sure what to do now. I'd like some feedback about which roms you guys are the best.
Like many of you I've been having issues with my radio, no data network, poor signal etc.
Is it worth flashing a new radio? Would it make much difference or is it not worth it? I'd hate to go so far that I can't get back to stock when updates become available.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

as long as you don't brick your phone, you can always go back to stock. There's no difference between going kinda far from stock and all the way from stock. Its just as easy to go back.
Definitely try the 4.0.4 radios.
And what the guy above said...
Returning to stock is always the same.
Flash a few images and relock = stock.
I'm currently using AOKP and I've found it to work for me. Radio-wise, I have no clue but everything works just as it should. I doubt I'll see a real world benefit in having a different radio.
Well, definitely do NOT flash CM9 first. Because once you've tried CM9 all the other roms will just be a disappointment. ;-)
But seriously, just try a few roms. There are some really good ones. I prefer CM9 (bugless, fast, and friendly for your battery), but AOKP is also very popular (feature-rich but some more bugs I believe). It's always easy to make a nandroid backup and restore it whenever you want.
Thanks all. After bricking my fascinate twice I became a little gun shy when it comes to mods. The tool box makes it so simple though, I couldn't resist. I'm trying cm9 as soon as I get home

I actually just rooted yesterday to combat my extremely poor signal here in Chicago on T-Mobile. My problem now is I have zero service on nearly every radio now. Tried them all waited 10 mins and rebooted and no signal bars. On 2 of them I can get bars but no service. I have upload arrows absolutely no download arrows. And I'm actually trying to load the market or xda and it just times out.
Edit: Sorry for the thread hijack buddy. Found my exact issue here.

Don't worry about the thread hijack. I'm just glad to have someone posting on my thread, even if it has nothing to do with my problems

Hi, I posted in the arhd thread but thought I would also post here as it was happening before I flashed the rom.
Right, so today I was on stock 4.0.2 unrooted and locked boot loader, I then decided that I just couldn't wait for the 4.0.4 update and gave into my inside rommer and done it manually.
I unlocked the boot loader and rooted , I then flashed the 4.0.4 update which went fine in itself but I noticed my download speeds and internet browsing was Mega sloooooow.
So I decided to flash android revolution HD 3.0, once again the flash went fine and the phone feels snappier but my bad download speed and internet speeds are just crap basically, it took nearly 5 mins to download the xda app from the market tut.
It wasn't like this this afternoon, its only happened since I changed to 4.0.4??? Just done a speed test and I'm getting 225 kbs download speed and 620 upload speed, if that means anything??? I'm not on wifi, I'm using 3g network.
Does anyone have a clue what's going on?? Or can advise me to sort it out??
Oh by the way I have not flashed any kernels or anything , all I done was flash the rom?
So any helpful advice would be welcomed
Many thanks
Darren

Thus far my favorite mod is my theme . And my favorite kernel is the samurai kernel. Although I have not ran it in a while. Waiting on The developer to finish his app and fix up his kernel a tad.

Heh doesn't sound like an easy fix. The signal anyways. Extracting the PRL is simple. And you need to use your PC not your phone. Though you can do it on your phone as well..
The PRL is the latest as well as the radios. But you could try flashing them again. I think sprints FD02 radios are messed up. I flashed the ones in our development section.
I also only get -100 and -93 which is between 1-2 bars in my house. But just about everywhere else i have 2-4 bars.

Well do you have another sprint phone to compare. It could just be that your area has sucky coverage. No radio or PRL will help you with that. The only thing I can think of is flashing a Verizon PRL. However that will be iffy because if roam too much sprint will cut you.

Hi , I'm currently using Lg g2x
and it seems like this phone is a good option for me right now.
i have a few question for the phone.
1. How are the driver and development support for this phone? ( both from samsung and devs)
my g2x is a pain right now because LG did not release enough drivers and we have no fully working ICS/JB and developments are dying....
2. Are there screen burn in problems?? (This was the major reason why I tried to avoid AMOLED phones)
3. what is your general opinion?
Thank you
This phone and the dev support kicks ass. I had no qualms about keeping this through the S3 cycle, and every time I think I want to upgrade, I'm reminded that this phone does everything I want it to do.

Ex-G2X user here. By all means, go for it if you have a bargain! This is a sweet phone, so stable compare to the G2X.

Dev support is killer!! You'd be crazy to not switch to an S2 or S3.
Im an ex g2x user also and I'd totally make the switch if i were u also

Oh I was reading development thread and I saw that some ROMS need to flash radio? and I read about people flashing radio file. (ULV..etc)
What is it? is it necessary? are there ROMS requiring specific radios? Thanks!

I'm in Canada as well(however with Wind Mobile) and so far the stock koodo or Telus radio suits the best(most reliable, no data drops, etc). You may try different radios from the thread below to see if any of those works better for you with your provider. The stock koodo is there too if you wanna go back to that.
Radios in general affect the mobile signal, data connection and wifi signal. On a side note, the Telus Jellybean release is just around the corner for our device (April), we will see how is the bundled radio performs once it drops.

Flashing a custom rom(unless stated otherwise by the rom developer) won't touch your radio. So in theory your signal and other radio characteristics will remain the same. However based on the feedback in the radio thread some radio performs better for some user depending on their location(most of them are US based Tmobile customer). So it's about trial and error, try them and see if you have better results with different ones (signal, ping, download/upload, voice quality, battery life).
For Wind mobile here in my location (Ottawa) the koodo radio is the champ.

So when i went to flash my phone back to stock, I went to the official Sammy website and thought I downloaded the correct t989 firmware, and flashed the s2 plus Rom and I noticed when it boot with the s2 plus boot animation. I thought I messed it up, but it boot perfectly and its smooth as jelly but what got me is the internet speed. I've never been able to touch 6mbps, 500kbps upload let alone 14mbps and 2mbps upload average! just wondering if this had been stated somewhere before?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
take a screen shot lets see what you are working with sounds very interesting brother
Sorry bro, I just flashed back to cm, but I can if it's worth it reflash the s2 plus Rom again just to show you, it was just an accident but it worked so much better than stock tmobile, and the speeds were reaching 18mbps plus! It's crazy cause now I'm back on cm, I'm back at the usual 6, and I think the carrier Rom was from VTR...

that sounds awesome bro show me the ROM/link you flashed i might give it a whirl as far as performance goes, because i have a micro sim so i cant slap it in my s2 no more but what you are saying kinda blows me away lol
Yeah it was just on the Sammy website, you can download it and flash via Odin, just choose the s2 plus Rom. I'm telling you it was wicked fast and the internet speed blew me away.

OK, let's not encourage anyone to flash ROMs for other devices and making paperweights
As this will now deteriorate let's just close this and say the OP got lucky
