Icon in notification bar won't go away. - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Yesterday, this icon showed up in my notification bar, and i can't get rid of it. I'm running the stock ROM in my Telus SGS3. Haven't installed any new apps lately, and i don't have any notifications.
Any idea what it is, or how to get rid of it?
I rebooted already, and it's still there. Also tried a battery pull with no luck.
Thanks in advance!

It means that you have notifications turned off. In the toggle menu in the notification drawer, there should be a toggle to turn it back.

What is this icon?

Hey guys this icon keeps coming up in my notification bar. I have no idea what it is and the only way to make it go away is by restarting the phone. Nothing comes up in the actual notification tray. Help please!
Its the icon to the left of the "ATT" text

You turned off notifications.
That is the 'no notifications' notification.
I have also seen it when you ahve too many notifications on the notification bar..
I didn't turn off notifications. I was just watching a show on my phone then added a new widget, and the icon came up. How do I re-enable the notifications?
Im still getting notifications when I get a text, so I don't really know why it is saying that they are turned off. I have no other notifications showing
Pull down your menu bar, and hit the Notifications toggle.
Also, the icon for too many notifications does not have the line through it.
Line - notifications off
No line - too many notifications to fit in the menu bar

Im sorry man what notification toggle? In the quick access toggles I have Wifi, bluetooth, GPS, Sound, Screen Rotation, Mobile Data, Power Saving, Airplane Mode, and Sync.
Then it just says the date and that Wifi is connected. And when I pull down the notification bar the icon disappears.

Are you scrolling the toggles/left right? I'm not running stock so I cant remember exactly what it looks like and where it is.

On stock there is usually a toggle called 'Notification', so I'm not sure why you don't have it, unless you're running a custom ROM you haven't mentioned or your carrier modified this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt3vQTOI0eE

[Q] Take "Ongoing" off of notification bar

I am trying to get rid of the "Ongoing" in my notification bar. It just showed up one day. There is a battery with the percent on the left side on the status bar, too. Any idea on what to do to get rid of this?

That's from your carrier only way to get rid of it is to root your phone and custom rom.....but some custom roms has that as well but most of them don't

That doesn't make any since, because my wife's SGS3 doesn't have it on her phone.
Thank you for the info. I will look into it
I don't think it has anything to do with rooting your phone. It just means that you have ongoing notifications. And you can't clear these like you can the one time normal notifications because they are still active i.e., ongoing. Once you close those tasks, like turning off the wifi calling and whatever the other item is, the ongoing notitications will clear themselves automatically. I don't know how to keep it from showing these ongoing notifications when they are active. Probably a feature of the app itself. Unless the app itself gives you that option under its settings.
It's a setting in the app.

That makes sense, but what app?
The app that is shown.... click on the ongoing notification the app should open then hit menu and look at the notification settings. You may have to reboot after you then it off. WiFi calling can't be hidden.
Ok. I found the app. I went through all my apps I downloaded after it happened and it was a new feature for Widgetsoid.
Thanks for the help all

Recurring running notification in notification panel

Has anyone else had a problem with running app notifications in the notification panel.I have them unmarked in the application manger to not show notifications and everytime you reboot the phone they come back in the notification panel and you have to go back in application manger and shut them off again every reboot, very annoying. Does anyone know how to fix it so the option sticks to stay out of thw notification panel.

I don't know man. I used to get the same thing with Ad Blocker Plus on my GNex. Every time I rebooted, the notification would come back, and when I clicked app info, the "show notifications" would be turned off. My advice would be to just not turn your phone off. lol!

[Q] Remove Battery Saver Notification?

Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the battery saver notification? I paid for the upgraded version of Tweaks Box, hoping that would help, but noticed afterwards that it said "hide all but the one that says it's enabled".
I'd like to leave it on all the time, to turn on once it hits 30%, but that persistent notification drives me crazy. Is there an option I'm missing in TweaksBox or another Xposed module/hack to get rid of that enabled notification?
Oh my goodness - that drives me crazy, just because I want battery saver for below 30% doesn't mean I need a constant reminder when I'm well charged! Yep, there's a notification status option in the Gravity Box exposed module somewhere (forget exact location in GB)... I removed it that way, you have to tinker a bit.
This is driving me nuts. Any way to get this notification gone?

I believe the post directly above yours answered your question
G3 TweaksBox has settings for this.
Hide the Battery Saver notification
- Hide all Battery Saver notifications but the one that says it is enabled (i.e. when you're actually low on battery).
It takes away both the icon and notification itself.

Worked on my TouchWiz S3, Gionee device, tablet, and more for the most part. A small amount if features especially lock screen size won't work on non AOSP ROMs/devices, but Gravity Box works on pretty much any rooted device with Xposed.

Does your G3 do this? (status bar flashes white)

I am having something weird happen that I never noticed before. Just completely reflashed it and it is still doing it. D850 (att) just FYI.
Basically the issue is this. If you leave certain apps running (phone, messaging, settings) and it locks...when you next unlock it, the status bar at the top has a white background ever so briefly before it goes to the color it is supposed to be. It seems timed along with the drawing of the nav bar at the bottom. I never noticed it before but it is kind of bugging me. I'm pretty sure this is a new thing.
Steps to reproduce:
Open the stock phone app.
Lock the phone
Unlock
Stare at the status bar.
Does it turn white before going to the color it is supposed to be?
Not every app does it. I was rooted and running tweaksbox before. I just reflashed and it still seems to be happening.
I certainly allow for the possibility that I just never noticed it before.

Same here but not if I just use the knock code to unlock. If I use the power button to go to the lock screen and then use the knock code it happens. 855 btw
Never noticed that, but yep flashes white from locked. Damn how can I unsee that
Mine doesn't flash any color. It just stays the same.
Mine did the same thing, ive hidden the notification bar and it stopped.
I have Verizon and it does it also.

How did you do this? What does this do exactly. Keep icons from showing at the top? Do you still have the notifications panel? (Pull down shade from the top)
Mine does this too (10h rooted with g3 tweaksbox); ive noticed it does it whilst the 'battery circle + value' is still loading, so i take it its the amount of time the cpu needs to properly render it.
It's under a second so it doesn't bug me.
