Hey guys this icon keeps coming up in my notification bar. I have no idea what it is and the only way to make it go away is by restarting the phone. Nothing comes up in the actual notification tray. Help please!
Its the icon to the left of the "ATT" text

You turned off notifications.
That is the 'no notifications' notification.
I have also seen it when you ahve too many notifications on the notification bar..
I didn't turn off notifications. I was just watching a show on my phone then added a new widget, and the icon came up. How do I re-enable the notifications?
Im still getting notifications when I get a text, so I don't really know why it is saying that they are turned off. I have no other notifications showing
Pull down your menu bar, and hit the Notifications toggle.
Also, the icon for too many notifications does not have the line through it.
Line - notifications off
No line - too many notifications to fit in the menu bar

Im sorry man what notification toggle? In the quick access toggles I have Wifi, bluetooth, GPS, Sound, Screen Rotation, Mobile Data, Power Saving, Airplane Mode, and Sync.
Then it just says the date and that Wifi is connected. And when I pull down the notification bar the icon disappears.

Are you scrolling the toggles/left right? I'm not running stock so I cant remember exactly what it looks like and where it is.

On stock there is usually a toggle called 'Notification', so I'm not sure why you don't have it, unless you're running a custom ROM you haven't mentioned or your carrier modified this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt3vQTOI0eE

Weird. I dont have that. Just like the first comment with the guy from TMobile. I guess AT&T removed it? Odd though that I am still getting notifications. Ill just have to reboot I guess.

To save a lot of my battery life I have widget to turn off wifi when I'm just playing a game or reading. I notice on my 10 inch Lenovo tablet there is a wifi toggle on/off why isn't it there for the a100? Is there any way to enable it or add it on? I know I can use the widgets but If I'm already reading or playing a game it a PITA to have to go back to home screen just to toggle wifi via widget rather than just launching the quick menu to disable it.
The notification menu allows for the toggling of airplane mode. Is that sufficient? (Three clicks to popup, click the settings icon, and toggle the mode). I think there is a way to add an icon on the desktop for a single click. I need to look into that later today.
When you say "quick menu," do you mean the three button ribbon? I don't know how to add or remove anything from there, but I would be interested in learning. I would also be interested in hiding it or using swiping to toggle it. I will try to look into this too.
I used curvefish Widgets for one tap wifi on-off and autorotation lock. (not a fan of physical switches) I am now using Beautiful Widgets toggle switches for Wifi and rotation since it was only 10 cents in the market.

You're right I could just toggle airplane mode which should turn off wifi. I'm gonna see if this also turns off GPS. Thanks.
I think the wifi toggle doesn't exist in the 7 inch tablets. I saw a video of a flyer with honeycomb and it didn't have it eithrt but it did have airplane toggle.

The Airplane toggle does not turn off the GPS. At least, I use the GPS while in Airplane mode quite frequently (e.g. navigation apps, geocaching app, and etc.). There is a possibility that I am disabling the GPS with Airplane mode and then manually turning on the GPS when I activate a related app. I need to test that.

I looked this up (haven't tried it yet) and it looks promising. Of course, you have to go to the main menu.
I wonder if there is a way to modify the Android ribbon on that has the back, home, and switch app buttons. I believe you called that the "Quick Menu." Still need to look that up. I would personally love to remove the Home button (since we have capacitive Acer home key) and maybe add another button.

I just confirmed that toggling Airplane mode has no effect on the GPS. In order for me to turn off the GPS, I have to toggle the GPS setting.
Since this isn't a phone, is "Airplane Mode" nothing more than a WiFi toggle?
The Curvefish GPS won't show up on my list of widgets.
I downloaded the Toggle Widgets Pack which gives me a GPS widget that just sends me directly to the GPS settings rather than toggles it on and off.
The TW widgets for WiFi, Airplane mode, Bluetooth, etc do act as a toggle though. Odd.

I am pretty sure it toggles bluetooth as well. Of course, I have to look that up.
The bluetooth I dont really use and the GPS havent yet the need to use to so for now the airplane mode will do. Previously I was using a wifi on off widget in my home screen to turn it off now I dont have to leave any game or watching a video to turn it off. Thanks for the advice!
Np. Enjoy!

The best toggle app I have found is Widgetsoid2.x. It puts the toggle buttons into the Notifications menu, so to toggle WiFi off/on I just click once for the Notification Menu, once for the toggle, then click back to the main screen.

I used widgetsoid on my gtab before but i didnt know it can add those to the notification menu. I'll have to try it...thanks.
Just installed it...I see in the market images it can be added to android 2.3 or below. Can you show me how to add it in the notification bar on the bottom for honeycomb?
EDIT: It seems a big buggy an too redundant since you already have it in the notification bar also. Thanks for the tip though.

At this point I already have toggle widgets. But he mentioned an app that can add the toggle in the status bar on the bottom (atleast thats what I think hes saying). This would be better since it doesnt require me to go to home screen.

Thank you! Looking at the images it looks very nice and matches the HC quick setting perfectly. Widgetsoid was good too but I think was kinda buggy so I never really used it. Gonna try yours now. Thanks again......
EDIT: Just installed it. Love that it matches honeycomb and you cant really tell its an add on. It is someone redundant though cause it also shows a notification icon in the bottom bar. But I'm not complaining.
EDIT2: Found theres setting to disable icon in notification bar.
Yesterday, this icon showed up in my notification bar, and i can't get rid of it. I'm running the stock ROM in my Telus SGS3. Haven't installed any new apps lately, and i don't have any notifications.
Any idea what it is, or how to get rid of it?
I rebooted already, and it's still there. Also tried a battery pull with no luck.
Thanks in advance!

It means that you have notifications turned off. In the toggle menu in the notification drawer, there should be a toggle to turn it back.

I am trying to get rid of the "Ongoing" in my notification bar. It just showed up one day. There is a battery with the percent on the left side on the status bar, too. Any idea on what to do to get rid of this?

That's from your carrier only way to get rid of it is to root your phone and custom rom.....but some custom roms has that as well but most of them don't

That doesn't make any since, because my wife's SGS3 doesn't have it on her phone.
Thank you for the info. I will look into it
I don't think it has anything to do with rooting your phone. It just means that you have ongoing notifications. And you can't clear these like you can the one time normal notifications because they are still active i.e., ongoing. Once you close those tasks, like turning off the wifi calling and whatever the other item is, the ongoing notitications will clear themselves automatically. I don't know how to keep it from showing these ongoing notifications when they are active. Probably a feature of the app itself. Unless the app itself gives you that option under its settings.
It's a setting in the app.

That makes sense, but what app?
The app that is shown.... click on the ongoing notification the app should open then hit menu and look at the notification settings. You may have to reboot after you then it off. WiFi calling can't be hidden.
Ok. I found the app. I went through all my apps I downloaded after it happened and it was a new feature for Widgetsoid.
Thanks for the help all
Hi all -
Trying to see if this is normal behavior or a bug, but I have two notifications on my lock screen (Messages and Outlook). When I unlock the device, in the top left, I just see the clock and "AT&T". When I drag the status bar down, I see my messages and outlook notifications (they are not silent or minimized). Why would I want to see AT&T instead of these notifications? Is there an option I'm missing to remove the carrier info?
I'm having the same issue, you are not alone. I spent more than an hour going through every single setting, but found nothing on how to fix this issue.

Fair enough, my apologies.
I have Sprint, and this is happening on my Galaxy S20.

I think that is actually super helpful information. This appears to be a OneUI issue, rather than an android, carrier, or particular model issue. So it needs to somehow get reported to Samsung for a fix... Does anyone here know if there a public place where Samsung tracks bugs for these devices?
Or does anyone know a writer who would pick up this story for a media outlet to shine some light?
Just to try something, have you toggled the setting in status bar section that says show all notifications?
I'm taking about opening quick settings toggles, pressing the three dots menu and then status bar.
I hadn't tried that, no. However, I just did and that didn't change anything.
My wife has an S20 Ultra on AT&T, and she's seeing this as well. I know there's a way to request support or post your issue to the community in the Samsung Members app. I may try to do that from her phone later today.
I've had issues with app notifications and icon badges since the S8, they never seem to get them to work properly

UPDATE
I was using the trial for Sprint's Call Screener program. I turned it off earlier, and now I no longer see "Sprint" in the status bar. I see the icons like I should. I have no idea if that is what solved the problem or not, but I didn't receive an update today and that's the only thing I can remember changing.
Go to settings, display and change 'Full screen Apps' to Auto for all
I played with that setting. It didn't have an affect on the notification issue.

Vinsuja, that setting did not work for me, however you sent me on the right path. I have had this same issue with notification not showing. I found that the camera cut out setting is causing this. Go to settings > display > full screen apps > click 3 dots for advanced settings > turn on hide camera cutout. This adds a black bar at the top, but fixes the notification issue
Edit: You can turn the setting back off and notifications will appear. This seems to be an issue with the full screen UI
Try using QuickStar in Good Lock (if you don't have good lock yet, its in the galaxy store). Under "visibility of indicator icons" you can turn off "Network Information" on homescreen, lockscreen and Expanded QS panel, that should hide your AT&T/Sprint etc etc label in the status bar. Interestingly enough I have a Bell S20, by default for my region carrier name is not shown.. which is a bonus...
Yup, like the title of the thread says.

I meant the pop up notification, or toast message I believe. Yes I can swipe it, I know, but I programmed do not disturb, so I don't want to be notified via a pop up message
an update
I disabled the status bar icon as instructed above, but the system ui notification still popped up when DND is turned on.
When the system notification pops up, try:
Press and release the notification, it may shift right and you'll see a gear symbol and trash can.
Click the gear symbol, there maybe an option in there to disable notification

AutoNotification. It works perfect for blocking the notifications you choose!

Thank you, but it is grayed out so I cannot toggle it off.
I just re-read the setting, and it's for blocking notifications while DND is on, and not to turn off the notification that DND is on.
There's got to be a way.
this worked for me
