Hi, I am new to this forum, I just bought a unlock Captivate Glide from newegg.com when they are on sale. The one I got is I927R from Roger which I don't know how they make it unlock. There are sever reviews who also buy recently mentioned their new phone either is not unlock when arrived or ask for unlock code after sever days use, which I really worry my phone will get the similar issue although currently is still ok. The question I have is under the setting-->about phone, i can not find the "system update" function (it only shows the "status" on the very top). Is this normal for the Roger version I927R? or it's missing because they don't want you to do any OTA since they use unknown way to unlock? Can anyone who use Roger version can let me know if your phone have this function showing? If so, anyway I can fix it without loosing the unlock feature?
Thanks!!

Don't worry. Rogers hasn't released any system updates for the device since it was released. I'm assuming your running 2.3.5
I've taken my Rogers phone and unlocked it and running Carpe's OsiMood ROM.

I recently bought a Incredible 2 for use overseas and wanted to confirm some things/had some questions:
1: According to the seller the phone has never been used/activated (Verizon seems to confirm this). As I do not want to activate it on Verizon, can I just buy an unlock code to unlock the SIM, bypass the activation screen and use the code? So far, googling doesn't seem to be telling me otherwise, but I wanted to check.
2: I was looking around on the threads on how to update without being on Verizon's network and just wanted to make sure I would be able to do so as well with an unactivated phone. (The activation screen isn't going to pop up and interfere with the process or anything?)
2b: It looks like there's two methods of updating with the official updates: through a PC if it's an exe or through the phone itself it it's a zip. Would I need anything else installed on the PC if I go with that method or is it just a matter of connect the phone (does it need to be in mass storage mode?) and run the exe? And which one would be easier for someone who has never done this before?
Thanks!
we unlocked this phone a few months ago and everything was working great.
last week sometime my son stopped receiving calls and txts and had a simcard icon showing that his sim card is locked. we did some troubleshooting with virgin and they determined he needed a new sim. so we restored this phone back to default and now there is still the sim card icon at the top of the screen. when we rebooted the phone it asks for a network unlock code. we were told by virgin to contact rogers to get this code. they were unable to help. i tried entering the unlock code that you provided us previously and we get an error unsuccessful unlock.
any ideas would be great.
so after almost two weeks of working with virgin and cellunlocker.net we still have not been able to get this phone working. im being told that sometimes when you update the firmware like we did the phone becomes re locked to the original carrier. i was sent a file to reload the stock firmware but the application just crashes when i run it. Does anyone know what i can do to get this phone up and running?? please help. thank you

Probably not a rom issue.
Probably will need to know what android version. ICS Official apparently has an issue with relocking from what I have read.

Man, what a nightmare...
I moved from Vancouver to California in February, and I've been trying to unlock my phone from Wind ever since. They provided me with an unlock code that doesn't seem to work. Then, after waiting 30 days for them to get me a new code, they gave me the same one. At this point, I doubt that the code is a mismatch to my IMEI, but it's just not working...
Here's the facts:
I have a SGH-T999V running 4.4.2. When I put in the T-Mobile sim card that I'd like to use and then try to put in the unlock code, I get an error message saying that the unlock code was unsuccessful.
Here are the questions that I have:
Do I need to be on the Wind Network to have the unlock code work? I selected T-Mobile as the network operator ever since I moved down to California.
It seems like other people with my version of the phone have had similar issues...is there a solution to this problem?
Can the fine, fine people of this forum help?
This has been a problem since 4.3 with some Samsung devices. Only thing I can suggest is try regionlock away from chainfire to see if it will unlock, which is probably unlikely. Make sure you are on stock firmware with stock kernel

Hi,
What message are you getting after inserting the code Wind provided?

Hi Andrew, it just says "Network unlock request unsuccessful."
I tried rooting my phone and using regionlockaway, which said that the patch was successful, but it seems that wasn't the solution.
It's pretty frustrating since I paid Wind for the unlock code, but it won't unlock my phone! Do you think that there is anything else I can do?

Only other thing is to contact Samsung, since it seems to be a Samsung issue at this point

Welp, I'll give it a try, but I've seen in other posts that people have been given the runaround by Samsung, who say, "This is because of how Wind locked your phone, can't help you."
I'll update this post with my progress, in case other people are having the same trouble.
I just purchase a Samsung galaxy A50 SM-A505U at Ebay from xfinity, I havent received it yet but I was wondering if this specific model from xfinity when you insert a sim card from another provider will asked for a unlock code?

I have an A505U as well that's recently off contract and I am trying to root it, not having any luck though :'( My OEM Unlock setting is missing in the Developer Options as well; none of the common methods for getting it to appear work :/
Hi there, so about few months ago like back in August, I got myself an LG Wing after LG announced that they were going to close the mobile division. I live in Malaysia and I asked help from a friend in India to help me get one and send it over.
After getting it in my hands, and after I inserted the SIM, it says Network locked. I bought the phone unlocked but it turns out, the phone needs to be used with a SIM from the same country, perform a 30 minutes call and then it would become unlocked.
Given that I stay in Malaysia, its impossible for me to travel all the way to India to unlock a phone. That said, is there any way I could perform either one of the following?
- Get the Unlock Pin to be able to use with other network?
- Change the India Official ROM with a different country ROM perhaps?
Thanks!

LGUp 1.16.3 Patched Found and Works with LG Wing
Honestly found it on XDA of all places after looking for it all night What does 1.16 give us that 1.14 doesn't? Everything honestly. Could not get my Wing recognized to flash with 1.14. No 1.15 Patched exists either We can downgrade with...

Currently no method (yet) to unlock bootloader and install ROMs or GSI images, unless you get lucky like one member did here and get a demo model that's already bootloader unlocked from factory

What are the steps to root a demo model? I am thinking to buy a demo model. It seems cheap.

You don't, unless you hopefully get lucky and its factory bootloader unlocked. There's no way (yet) to unlock the bootloader to root every lg wing, demo or not
Don't buy a demo model unless its just a phone to play with. Not a good every day use phone
