You can't delete the traces of your unlocked boot loader. If you are going back to stock and locking the boot loader, it won't say Locked Bootloader, instead it will say relocked bootloader.

Hello, I have a One X that I relocked the bootloader for send it to HTC. Actually my One X is running a official 4.0.3 version and always says that I have new updates availables.
I want to know if I need to do something special to update it without bricking the phone or I can do it normally.
Also I have doubts about if now with my relocked bootloader I can unlock it with the same process that I use the first time that I did it.
Thanks in advance.
If you are fully stock....
Stock Rom (not rooted)
Stock kernel (boot.img)
Stock recovery
You can leave your Bootloader locked, should not be a problem !

Thanks for your answer, I have stock rom, kernel and recovery. What about the process to unlock again the bootloader for install custom roms? Can I do it like the last time? Thanks in advance.
The process is exactly the same. You can even use the same unlock code .bin file to unlock

Yes if you have stock recovery and stock rom then you can get OTA's.
Bootloader can also stay unlocked

so all is good then.. thanks mate !!
I've rooted my HTC One X ( ICS CIDnum H3G_001) and flashed ViperX 2.7.0 (ICS) custom ROM. I tried to upgrade ViperX 3.7.8 (JB) and flashed the appropiate boot.img but after installation was frozen on the ViperX 'HTC Quietly Brilliant' splash screen so I reverted back to stock ROM through Nandroid backup and relocked my bootloader so I could install the stock OTA JB update. Now all I get is ...this device is for development purposes...etc. in red text on my 'Quietly Brilliant' splash screen. I'm back on ICS stock ROM with bootloader unlocked but would dearly be able to install the ViperX JB ROM.
Help would be greatly appreciated.
Any suggestions? :good:
Thanks in advance.

And if you are on full stock there is no need to relock the bootloader. Saves some flashing and unlocking.

Lock not 'relock' bootloader.

Are you saying if I do a Nandroid backup with my current ROM then save it to my laptop, do a factory reset I don't have to lock my
bootloader to get OTA updates Mr. Hofs?
P.S. Sorry about the delay, been offline.
No in order to receive ota you do not need to relock the bootloader, all you need is stock rom, kernel and recovery

on htc phones, unlocked bootloader can receive and update ota, but have to on stock rom and stock recovery?
and i wanted to ask, is there any difference between "LOCKED" and "RELOCKED" bootloader?

correct but i believe the question was aimed towards OTA's and not warranty and as such, no locked and relocked act the same.

yes, my question is referring to ota, i didn't care much about it but, is there any way to change it into "LOCKED" again, if there's no method it's ok either.
No cant change it to locked
Yes.. no?
You'd still be stock except for the fact that your S-OFF and the bootloader is unlocked. It'll do a system wipe when you unlock the bootloader, but it'll still be the stock Sense 5 Verizon ROM on there.
Is that what you mean?
I'm assuming OP means can you go back to complete stock. S-on, locked boot loader.
If so, I'd like to know the answer to this as well.

Assuming you made a nandroid, couldn't you restore stock backup, relock the bootloader and S-on via fastboot?
Sounds too simple.
The simple answer is yes. The complicated part depends on where you're at when you decide to go back.

After I got s-off the first thing I did was get twrp and made a backup of my stock rom so that's good. I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to relock the boot loader but would be lost on how to s-on via fastboot

So i am at noob at this but just asking before doing something wrong
Can i use rom updates from HTC while im rooted with a unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery and skydragon rom ???
I believe that will give you an RUU, which you technically can use to put your phone back into a stock state. I would recommend relocking your bootloader first if you dont have S-OFF, as it seems to get in the way of RUU's from time to time. Keep in mind that this process will put you back to stock Sense and will wipe your data.

Unlocked bootloader will get in the way of RUU every time if you are s-on.
Relocked or locked bootloader is absolutely mandatory to run an official RUU with s-on.
