I've rooted my HTC One X ( ICS CIDnum H3G_001) and flashed ViperX 2.7.0 (ICS) custom ROM. I tried to upgrade ViperX 3.7.8 (JB) and flashed the appropiate boot.img but after installation was frozen on the ViperX 'HTC Quietly Brilliant' splash screen so I reverted back to stock ROM through Nandroid backup and relocked my bootloader so I could install the stock OTA JB update. Now all I get is ...this device is for development purposes...etc. in red text on my 'Quietly Brilliant' splash screen. I'm back on ICS stock ROM with bootloader unlocked but would dearly be able to install the ViperX JB ROM.
Help would be greatly appreciated.
Any suggestions? :good:
Thanks in advance.

And if you are on full stock there is no need to relock the bootloader. Saves some flashing and unlocking.

Lock not 'relock' bootloader.

Are you saying if I do a Nandroid backup with my current ROM then save it to my laptop, do a factory reset I don't have to lock my
bootloader to get OTA updates Mr. Hofs?
P.S. Sorry about the delay, been offline.
No in order to receive ota you do not need to relock the bootloader, all you need is stock rom, kernel and recovery

on htc phones, unlocked bootloader can receive and update ota, but have to on stock rom and stock recovery?
and i wanted to ask, is there any difference between "LOCKED" and "RELOCKED" bootloader?

correct but i believe the question was aimed towards OTA's and not warranty and as such, no locked and relocked act the same.

yes, my question is referring to ota, i didn't care much about it but, is there any way to change it into "LOCKED" again, if there's no method it's ok either.
No cant change it to locked

Hello, I have a One X that I relocked the bootloader for send it to HTC. Actually my One X is running a official 4.0.3 version and always says that I have new updates availables.
I want to know if I need to do something special to update it without bricking the phone or I can do it normally.
Also I have doubts about if now with my relocked bootloader I can unlock it with the same process that I use the first time that I did it.
Thanks in advance.
If you are fully stock....
Stock Rom (not rooted)
Stock kernel (boot.img)
Stock recovery
You can leave your Bootloader locked, should not be a problem !

Thanks for your answer, I have stock rom, kernel and recovery. What about the process to unlock again the bootloader for install custom roms? Can I do it like the last time? Thanks in advance.
The process is exactly the same. You can even use the same unlock code .bin file to unlock

How did you install the ota if you wasn't stock? Have you tried clearing cache in fastboot or factory reset?
Id of said find the correct Ruu for your cid and relock your bootloader and then run Ruu while in fastboot to get it back to stock. If that's your current Hboot, then it hasn't updated to Jellybean.
You can't update from custom with an official ota. Now you have to run the old ICS ruu, then install all the otas until you reach the JB ota
ahh i see. so what is the best solution to get JB rom then?
1.
relock, change hboot and install a custom JB rom?
2.
relock and install proper ICS ROM and then do a OTA update on that?

I have the same problem in ICS , after installing the original recovery and lock the bootloader the problem gone.
Samooorje is right but TT actually also, in some cases the ruu fails and after flashing back the stock recoveryand/or the stock boot.img they had succes. But this is not applied to everybody, i for instance did not had to reflash anything before running the JB ruu. Still have no clue why this is.

back to stock for OTA
HTC ONE X on Stock Jelly Bean after i flashed JB viper x 3.3.3, everything was working fine. I decided to try an OTA update, reflashing the stock ICS back using Custom Ruu, wich is an awsome project. i returned to stock ICS 4.0.3, reflashed stock recovery, i tryied an ota update, i was able to get it ( not JB, i think it was something else, maybe ICS 4.0.4), than stuck in bootloop....in fast boot it was an red warning message, about recovery i think...i repeat the whole procedure once more, i got ICS 4.0.3 functionally, then OTA , after again boot loop. what do you think is the cause? could be the recovery? i flashed the recovery extracted from original stock ICS 4.0.3 rom
( RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_TMO_DE_1.29.111.11_Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_260730_signed)...i didn t try the JB stock recovery
now i m on ViperX again
hboot 1.36, CID T-MOB101

Are you posting this everywhere now ??? Stay in one thread. I will not follow you around here you know :banghead:
If you answered my question in the other thread we would be a lot further by now .....
i have rooted my HOX and installed CM 10.1 for some times , after that i have came back to the stock recovery which i have taken at the time of root.
now currently i have installed new kernel on the stock htc sense rom.
my question is , can i get official OTA updates given by htc with this current condition or i have to unroot and re-lock bootloader ?

relock is not needed
A few months back, 2 months to be exact, i flashed back my stock nandroid and then relocked the bootloader. So now it shows bootloader : relocked in fastboot.. i wanted to confirm that if i am still on my stock rom with a relocked bootloader, will i get ota updates from htc like a normal stock phone??

Yes if you have stock recovery and stock rom then you can get OTA's.
Bootloader can also stay unlocked
