As subject, any user have experience using lumia 900 that have echo feedback if i call someone on the phone..how i solve this bug,it's really annoying....is it hardware or software?

I'm having the same issue, doesn't matter if I'm inside, outside, wired or wireless headset. Fully charged or plugged in. The echoing is getting worse, I replaced the SIM card, and nothing. So phone 4 is on its way.
When in a call press the volume down button and set volume to 5 or 6. That solved my echo problems
Sent from my Lumia 900 using Board Express
Same here.. Turning in call volume down to 6 stops this. Back up to 9 or 10 people complain about echos on their end.
I have this problem as well.(about to get replacement no 3) Turning volume down to 5 does not fix the problem for me.
Wish I kept my 800 no such issues with it.

Hi Guys,
Right, i'm looking for some way to stop my XDA2s "waking up" on connection/disconnection of Bluetooth.
Whenever i get in my car, my BA auto connects to my Nokia CK-7W Bluetooth car kit, as it should. But it also unlocks/turns on, allowing the screen/buttons to be pressed.
This wouldn't be so much of an issue if i had a car cradle (still shoppin about) but at present i'm using a leather case and its going mental in my pocket everytime i turn on/off my ignition.
I'm having to re-lock my phone everytime i get in or out my car...
This may well be 'normal' behaviour, but is there anyway to stop this 'wake on BT' ?? Even if only for the Nokia BT Profile in BT Manager...
Running standard spec (out of the box) unlocked XDA2s on O2 PAYG sim.
no updates as of yet. (if u feel this would help, please specify which)
Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist.
Dickie.
Dickie, don't have your answer but I'm intrigued to find out if you get truly awful sound quality with your Nokia kit? i.e. the caller gets a truly horrendous echo?
They sure do JH,
Something i looked around for recently - only had the kit fitted last week.
I rang my office during its installation and my mate said it sounded fine, i've also had a friend say it didn't sound too bad when the engine wasn't started, but i've had definate problems during transit.
I've got an engineer looking at it tomorrow, will let you know if this can be resolved any other way than replacing (although he'll be swapping it for another brand if he can't sort it).
I believe an Ericsson model works fine??
Just a quick note, if others are experiencing sound quality issues, before blaming your kit/phone try cleaning the contact points on your sim/phone as my engineer stated 90% of echo issues he resolves this way....
not for me though, brand spanking new phone and even newer sim...
if only all fixes were that simple!
Wake up on BT connect/disconnect
I have the same isue with the phone waking up on connect/disconnect, but as I have my phone requiring it's PIN before anything can be done, then the phone goes back to sleep after 2 minutes.
I don't really find it an issue.
I just started using speaker phone with a couple of friends, and they keep saying that they can hear themselves echo when they talk if my phone is on speaker. I'm getting really tired of having to deal with all of these bugs.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Got it to work. If you're going to use speaker phone, make sure your screen is facing up.
I have also been having this issue...it used to be that when my speaker was turned up too high when on speaker phone the person I would talk to could hear themselves echoing(on my evo4g) but turning the speaker volume down would fix it. But with the Epic 4g Touch even with lowering the speaker volume the person I was talking to still complained about an echo..and this isn't a once or twice kind of thing, its literally every time I talk to someone on the phone and I switch to speaker...my current workaround is not using speaker phone at all which sucks
I found out that if you leave the screen facing up, and have the phone on a flat surface, they dont get an echo no matter how high the volume is. Hope this helps.
I also found out that you have to start the call off speaker, put it on the desk, and then put it on speaker for the echo to go away.
this issue can also be caused by the case
The Sprint Hybrid Gel case caused this issue on my phone. It causes the feedback echo issue. Again, without it the phone works perfectly. With it the caller hears their own voice echoed. Tested in a call. Started the call with the cover on, heard the echo. Removed it, the echo disappears. Do not buy the Sprint Hybrid Gel Cover.
The Case-Mate Barely There is reported to work well, but I haven't had a chance to buy one yet. You can find more information on the AndroidForums site.

I'm having the same problem on my AT&T Galaxy S3. Person on other end of line experienced terrible echo when I turn speakerphone on. I don't have the issue on my stock ICS ROM only on the custom JB ROM's I have tried: CM 10 M2, AOKP M1, AOCP newest build etc... I'm assuming all these ROM's share some common code. It's definitely the the case as I have tried taking it off and on with no effect. If you have found a solution., I'm all ears. Thanks!
Speaker phone may be convenient but on the other end, it sounds very irratating. Many phones sound this way. It sounds like you walked into an empty room with no fur nature or drapes or carpet. Empty room echo city.
Starting to wonder if i should stick with the 900 or go to a titan II.
My first Lumia 900 had an issue where when people called me they would get an echo and feedback. AT&T replaced the sim card several times with no success, replacing the device fixed the issue.
now, on my second Lumia 900, the speaker seems to randomly stop working. The keys during texting will stop making noise, ringtones aren't audible, and music isn't audible either. Sometimes, before the sound goes out completely it will start to stutter or lag. I've had mixed results in whether or not a restart of the phone fixes this issue. I also find that they auto rotate on the phone is not very accurate either.
Anyone else having these issues? possible a firmware update can fix this? I have only a couple of days left to return this for another 900 or go to a Titan II and i'd have to return this one to get another lemon.
Pre-ordered mine. Picked it up on 4/6. Never had a data issue or the the issues you describe. I do experience the "phone not waking with camera button", which a soft reset always fixes. Checked diagnostics and the button responds fine, so I know it's software. No purple hue. The back button occasionally (1 in 10) opens the multi-task screen, but again this appears to be a timing/software issue. The vibration sound is different, but that doesn't make it bad. Just different. Overall, pleased with my phone and certain that Nokia will deal with these little nits shortly.

We all know that not every phone is perfect. I don't think you're talking about that. Reasonable people have reasonable expectations.
I've replaced mine once. Not even my request...walked into my AT&T store to show my wife something...and the guy that sold me the phone asked to see it. He did something...and said, let me replace it. Apparently the vibrater was loose,,,or rather, more loose than it should be. I didnt notice it.
I did not have data connect issues. The purple screen impacts me only if I switch to low light...which I do not and most likely never will do. I do have a wifi data issue...but the impact is rare.
The guy next to me at work has the Titan II. He likes it...but its too big for me. I can tell he's not way overjoyed with it....but it suits his needs. We both work in a place that does Mobile software....so we both know our phones have a shelf life of...until the next big thing.....so most problems, for me...are almost always liveable....
kev.schu,
I did not have any of your problems. I started a thread about my purple screen saga. I went through three phones. Actually I think 8 were tested but I only had three in my possession when I left the store. Your sound issues seem a little outside the norm. That is not a quirk I have really heard about. I would be kind of inclined to seek a remedy.
I was bothered about my purple screen but others are not. Some people are bothered by the rattle but I can live with mine. It does sound ridiculous compared to other phones but it's not a deal breaker for me. Otherwise I'm happy.
I went through six devices. But it was because of the vibrate rattle. None of them had any other issue with the exception of the purple hue on my latest one. Being that it's software related I rather stick it out with this phone and have an issue Nokia can fix, than be stuck with the rattle. I'm telling you, my girlfriend and I got the same phones on the same day, hers was quiet, and my first five devices clicked like the world was coming to an end on vibrate. I would ask reps, and other customers in the stores and NONE of them had the problem. I guess since I kept taking the ones with the rattle before they were able to -_-

What do you mean by "clicked?" Mine buzzes like a small electric shaver. It only "clicks" when you change from photo to video in the camera. But it's just one audible click. I've heard the rattle varies from phone to phone. It's allegedly not an all or nothing deal.
Let's see, this is my 3rd one. My first one went into a boot loop when I ran the update from my Mac, I am guessing I may have done something wrong being it was my first experience with Windows Connector. My second one had the the purple hue and this one is perfect (keeping my fingers crossed).
None of the three had any other issues. Tomorrow is the end of my 30 days and there is no other device out there that I want over my Lumia.

It clicked... Like click click lol, when it would begin to vibrate, and on short vibrates like with the ringer, it was just clicking...

I haven't had to replace mine, but my dad has had to have his replaced four times now. Once for echo and feedback issue when on calls, twice for purple screen and once for the rogue voice control popping up at random times even when the phone is not in use.
After playing with the phone some more it turns out it is some sort of short circuit issue. Whenever I put any sort of pressure on the back of the phone the sound would stop. This also meant that even setting it on the table on its back, would make the sound stop working at times. I took the phone back showed them the problem and replaced it.
I exchanged my black one from launch dare for a white one yesterday. The original had issues with the capacitive buttons and vibration noise but I actually like the vibration because I could always tell it apart from other cell phones at table. The white one is working perfectly

I bought mines on the 21st and haven't had any issues. Knock on wood. However my gf got the phone last Wednesday and hers had the purple screen issue as well as the horrible vibrating issue. We took in to get swapped and they all had the purple screen issue. However one of them did not have the vibrating issue so we wen with that one because I know Nokia is going to release a fix for the purple screen.

Actually had to replace mine the same day i bought it.
Couple hours after i bought the phone i locked it and put it in my pocket. Couple hours later i took it out and it was completely dead. Held down the power button, tried different button combinations but couldn't get it to do anything. Only activity i could get is when i plugged it in to charge it would vibrate.
Haven't had any issue with the replacement though
I'm very tempted to get a lumia 900 instead of an htc one x but man it sounds like there are some serious quality control issues...
Are you guys still happy with the phone or is it annoying at this point?
I am very happy with mine. Not going back to Android anytime soon.

since your considering the one x then it becomes a matter of preference. Sense 4 is one the the best Android experiences so far. Having said that, I've used a ported Sense 4 rom for some time on my last phone and I still think WP7 is a better experience. Replacing your phone is pretty painless, I didn't have any troubles.
I'd buy it through amazon though (half the price at $50), so shipping back and forth woudl be a massive pain...
Returning my first one tomorrow.
Capacitive buttons just stopped working. Reflashed FW and everything, but they won't return. Kinda makes it hard to get around the phone.

I exchanged by black Lumia 900 for a white one because of the purple screen issue. It doesn't have the quietest vibrate mode but I can live with that. I got my Lumia 900 for free during the rebate period. I could not imagine paying $200 more for an HTC One X. With the mandatory data fees these companies charge I don't ever see myself paying $200 for a contract phone.

I assume you don't have any form of backup for it? The tool I wrote last fall has served me well to backup and fully restore my lumia 900 after I "play" with it and mess things up. I don't update the thread anymore because I don't have the time to handle all the problems international folks were having and now someone else wrote a tool that does the same thing.
Ok that was a tangent... anyway, I wonder if restoring to a prior version would help? I know you said you tried a different "firmware" but this would get you the original config on the phone. Seems odd those buttons just stop working. It will SUCK that all app settings will be lost when you get a new phone.
I wish I had more time to dev. I would love to get an app that could be sideloaded with highest privileges to take all application isolated storage data and skydrive it.
Hello, Recently I had my t-mobile Galaxy note 2 sent back to Samsung to have the power charger port fixed (wouldn't charge). Now when ever I make a call or receive a call it seems to randomly goes quite. it can be anywhere between 30 seconds to 10 mins into the call.
I Live in Sheffield and am in a fantastic phone reception area so I'm pretty certain its nothing to do with the reception.
I've tried a hard reset (the holding the power, vol + up buttons thing) but no joy.
I've spoke to t-mobile but since I don't have a landline the calls are pretty pointless as i get cut off and have to start all over again (press 1 for sales 2 for....balhblah).
After searching online and in here a few people seem to have issues with the tethering causing calls to drop but in my case tethering + wifi + bluetooth + gps are all off.
Not really sure what to try, anyone got any ideas?

Same here, other than unlike the OP I haven't had to send the phone back for any repairs as it's otherwise perfectly happy.
I'm not tethering, not using GPS (knowingly), just using plain telephone. It usually happens within the first 30 seconds (10 seconds?) of the call, and can happen 2 or 3 times. Then 5 minutes later I'll be able to make a call OK. I'll quite often reboot afterwards.
I think it happens when I'm placing the call as opposed to receiving (difficult to remember the full history of it).
It's happening more frequently.
I'm on Baseband XXDMF1, , Build XDME6, Kernel 3.0.31-1071214, CF Auto-Root t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100
It's getting annoying.
Couple of times a day.

Maybe a prob wth the reception wire that is connected to the usb flex though not sure
So I've had my note 7 for about 2 days now and I've notice the sound quality of the loud speaker is terrible. It has a crackling sound and the volume is extremely low. It sounds loud and very clear after I restart the phone, but after about 30 minutes it happens again. Ive tried factory reset 3 times already. It works fine after a reset, but the problem reoccurs. This happens when I watch YouTube, playing a ring tone, and using the speakerphone during a call. I've never dropped it or gotten it wet. Trying to see if anyone else have this issue. Or perhaps it's my unit.
I had the same problem as well and not only the speaker but the ear speaker was low on volume, now after a couple of days it seems better but the sound quality is like its muzzled up. I spoke with tmobile and they said to send it in. only thing is that if you dont have an extra phone u will probably be without it for a couple of days.
I have the same problem that the max volume is really low. When the phone rings I can hardly hear it ring at max volume. Max Volume is like half volume on my s6 edge plus.

In a way I was hoping I was the only one and that my unit was defective. This sucks that others are having this issue. I advice you guys to call Tmo and have them do a return for you under the buyer's remorse return policy. They will actually overnight you a new one and you can return yours once you receive the new one. They will also give you a return label so you don't have to pay for it. That's what I did and in fact my new phone will arrive later today. If the rep you speak to won't do it (which I highly doubt) ask to speak to a supervisor.
When you get the replacement, let me know if your new unit has the same issue or if the new unit still has low volume. From what I am reading it seems to be a problem across all of them.
Sent from my SM-N930T using XDA-Developers mobile app
So after 3 days with the new unit, I did not have the same issue. Both speakers and volume work perfectly fine. I spent a bit more time on YouTube, listening to music, and watching Netflix more than usual and everything seems to work fine. Doesn't really matter much now that the recall is in placed.
