Hello all, testing out the Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) right out of the box and I'm having issues with the camera; specifically with video. I'm taking 1080p video; however, when I play it back on my TV I'm seeing hesitation/studdering in the middle of the video. This occurs hortizonally across the center of the video and is about an inch in width.
I'm playing this on a 50 inch plasma so maybe my expectations are too high, but I didn't have this problem on my previous phone (Rezound) and am thinking that perhaps the camera is faulty.
Anyone else have this issue?

Funny story behind this test.
I was at an Arsenal game today and during a lull in play and when we had a corner, I decided to pull out my phone and do a test recording.
I guessed nothing would happen as the game was drying up.
We were in an advantageous position but suddenly Manchester City counter attacked and scored! I was livid! I had to contain my swearing as I quickly tried to turn the recording off.
Here's the test
Check it out in 1080p and tell me what you think of the quality. This video was uploaded via the standard YouTube app found on the Galaxy Nexus.
Quality isn't bad for a phone camera. Not too fussed about result though, we have too many games anyway. Let's get back to CL next year.
Good of recording the goal...
Bad of being in Aquarium-mode...(GNex video recording)
Yeah man, we need CL big time. I don't want to watch us on Thursdays on Five.
Not the best quality for 1080p video, anyway...
Expected more for it, probably it is because of low light
Hi all, had my one x now for about a week, coming from the iphone 4...
the problem i have is that when im recording video in either 720p or 1080p it is sharp for a couple of seconds then the autofocus keeps cutting in and it goes blurry for a second or 2 till it refocusess then it goes back to normal... really anoying, its killing my videos !!!
so does anyone else have this problem or is my phone knackered ?
My does it only in 1080p so i stay in 720. Hope the update Will fix the problem.

Only if you have many things in the video that are at different focus lengths. If you're recording a face it should stay at the same focus length.

I have the same issue, realy annoying! Makes useless videos that way...
Mine is doing it on both 1080 and 720 resolutions. Initially i thought it was too much going on in a picture, however this doesnt seem to be the case. Focusing on an object a metre away is causing it issues. Camera focusing however is fine. Definitely a software bug. Lets hope 1.27 when it comes out is magical
Despite its "quirks" I bloody love this phone!
I think ive found a temp fix... well untill we get a software update that fixes it for good...
any way launch the camera app then go to settings and scroll down to video options and disable video stabilization... seems alot better for me after i did this !!!
hope this helps people...thanks
Looking for some advice. I have already swapped out one Galaxy Note II due to an issue with video recording. Every video taken with the phone had horrendous speaker cracking and popping during playback. The speakers were fine for music and other videos, but videos taken on the device suffered from terrible interference. I had the device replaced and received my new one yesterday. Opened it up, took a video and get exactly the same issue. From what I have seen on Youtube, the audio quality from this phone should actually be really good, and I haven't read a single report of the issue I have now experienced on two devices anywhere online. Before I go down the route of exchanging for a third device, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might be able to remedy this? I have linked to a video I uploaded taken in a silent room where the popping noise is clearly audible.
What do you all suggest? Anything I can try or have I really been unlucky enough to own the only 2 devices with this hardware fault?

Just a bump to keep this on the front page until it's had at least a couple of responses.
I do think I read about this "pop" in Video recordings elsewhere in a review I think? They mentioned this being an issue with the GS3 as well I believe. I will try to find the article again and post it if I can.
Just did a test with mine and no popping what so ever.
Same here. No popping, at least in a couple of short (2-3 minutes in length) 1080p videos I recorded. (They're the only videos I've recorded using my SGN II so far.)
I'm having the same problem with my Note II LTE (GT-N7105). Did you find a solution to the problem or is it just a case of getting the phone replaced?
Having frame rate issues with recorded video capturing at only 20fps in 1080 mode, 21fps in 720 mode and 23fps in 480 mode using the back camera. In 1080 and 720 there is constant freezing and missing frames. Using the latest kitkat build 4.4.2 (KOT49h) since day one so maybe there is a bug with the current build as i don't see anyone else have this issue online.
I have not downloaded any apps since purchasing the device a few days ago, no apps running in the background and using the camera when the device has just been switched on.
I also noticed the bit rate is low for 1080 at around 8500 in comparison to an untouched sample i downloaded from another user that is recording at 12733 at 29fps but i think this user was still on the previous kitkat build.
The front facing camera recording is of smoother quality but only records at 25fps in both resolutions on offer.
I have also emailed Asus and the only response i have received is that in low light conditions the fps will drop. The recordings have all been done in bright perfect blue sky conditions so maybe i have a defective light sensor that is wrongly dropping the frame rates to maintain visual quality.
Just wondering if anyone here is using the same KitKat build and can tell me what frame rates and bit rates their recordings are at so that i can determine if it is due to the new kit kat version or it is hardware related.
Online articles have suggested the current KitKat "KOT49H" has caused significant fps drops in video playback and game playback but not sure if this same issue can be stretched to include video recording fps also.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff
Hey guys. So I was at a restaurant earlier this evening and I was about to take some pics with my 5t when I noticed something really weird. Black vertical lines zooming from side to side on the image. The lighting was relatively dim and I noticed it stops when I focused on a white plate.
I tried with different camera apps and it kept happening. I took some videos to show you guys. I'm really hoping this is not a hardware issue because I'd hate to send the phone back.
Have any of you had these issues? Any thoughts?
Here are the videos:
And this one shows it happens with photos as well:

that ain't no issue. that's common on any camera.
It is the refresh rate of the screen and the lights not matching up. TV in the UK is broadcast at 24 fps, so lighting in the UK is tailored to match at 24hz.
you'll see those lines on poor light/LEDs on preview mode only. some camera apps have the option to change the hz from US to UK.

I had no idea lighting could mess with the refresh rate of a camera. It's weird because the problem is not only on videos. When I snap a picture the lines are there also. Is that because of the refresh rate too? On a still image?
I too have the same problem

Excuse me but no. Standard TV is 50Hz, and I bet at least some HD channels transmit in 50Hz. Regardless of this the AC switching rate is 50Hz. Unless you're talking of another UK (I was referring to the one with the Queen).
Is this an isolated case or is it another oneplus problem like oneplus 5?

It's not a problem at all... It's how cameras pick up certain lights since they refresh at different rates. Try recording a tv or computer screen. You'll likely see it flickering the same way.

Yes I know that differents frecuences could make interferences, but I bought the phone after a bad experience with the Oneplus 5 jelly and I'm worried haha Great to read that, thanks!
Just wanted to confirm that there's no issue. Tested with a Oneplus One and a Samsung Galaxy S5 camera. Both had the same effect under that lighting. I guess I learned something new.
Ok, could one moderator close this thread? Because someone can think that this is an issue of the phone...Anyway, I like to see that you've learned something new @Lord Zafakon
