Hi all, had my one x now for about a week, coming from the iphone 4...
the problem i have is that when im recording video in either 720p or 1080p it is sharp for a couple of seconds then the autofocus keeps cutting in and it goes blurry for a second or 2 till it refocusess then it goes back to normal... really anoying, its killing my videos !!!
so does anyone else have this problem or is my phone knackered ?
My does it only in 1080p so i stay in 720. Hope the update Will fix the problem.

Only if you have many things in the video that are at different focus lengths. If you're recording a face it should stay at the same focus length.

I have the same issue, realy annoying! Makes useless videos that way...
Mine is doing it on both 1080 and 720 resolutions. Initially i thought it was too much going on in a picture, however this doesnt seem to be the case. Focusing on an object a metre away is causing it issues. Camera focusing however is fine. Definitely a software bug. Lets hope 1.27 when it comes out is magical
Despite its "quirks" I bloody love this phone!
I think ive found a temp fix... well untill we get a software update that fixes it for good...
any way launch the camera app then go to settings and scroll down to video options and disable video stabilization... seems alot better for me after i did this !!!
hope this helps people...thanks

Funny story behind this test.
I was at an Arsenal game today and during a lull in play and when we had a corner, I decided to pull out my phone and do a test recording.
I guessed nothing would happen as the game was drying up.
We were in an advantageous position but suddenly Manchester City counter attacked and scored! I was livid! I had to contain my swearing as I quickly tried to turn the recording off.
Here's the test
Check it out in 1080p and tell me what you think of the quality. This video was uploaded via the standard YouTube app found on the Galaxy Nexus.
Quality isn't bad for a phone camera. Not too fussed about result though, we have too many games anyway. Let's get back to CL next year.
Good of recording the goal...
Bad of being in Aquarium-mode...(GNex video recording)
Yeah man, we need CL big time. I don't want to watch us on Thursdays on Five.
Not the best quality for 1080p video, anyway...
Expected more for it, probably it is because of low light
Hola everyone.
So got my HOX last Friday, and been loving my phone. However, I decided to test the video recording capabilities.
I went to a nearby starbucks and just randomly recorded people passing by and I do notice slight jittering sometimes. So I decided to check the framerate with MX Player.
To my surprise, it says 1920x1080 @ 60fps! (well 59.xxxxx). Granted, it was a really well lit starbucks but even then.. I remember the camera only being able to record at 30fps?
Then I came back, and I'm in my room now and it's 7.30pm. So I decided to try again. I pointed my camera at my room light and started recording. I focused on the light so everything surrounding the light is just pitch black. This way I can get higher fps (light is way bright, hence faster shutter speed, theoretically more fps).
Then I checked and it shows @ 30fps? @[email protected]
I recorded another video, this time at a pitch black pc monitor. Fps dropped to an expected 14.xx fps.
Is the HOX camera really capable of recording [email protected] if it's bright enough? I don't know but that's what the file properties is telling me. Anyone experience the inconsistent to sometimes record at 30fps and sometimes at 60fps?
No one has experienced this? >.<
nope
i see min 6mbps, max10mbps and fps between 19 (yes, even in daylight!) and 29
in the evening (lowlight outside) i get 14 fps
the quality is really good though (lighting and noise wise) but the bitrate sucks.
fps is a tradeoff with exposure though in lowlight.
Hmm, then I'm not sure why I see some of my recorded videos showing at 60fps. Will record more in daylight tomorrow and will do more analysis.
That's maybe a tegra3 issue. Tegra2 has the same issue. Let's see AT&T version with Krait processor...
I can vouch for this, I also saw it on a couple of videos and I was just as surprised, I assumed it was a software glitch.
Will try to take a picture of it if stumble upon it again.
I've never been able to reproduce 60fps again after I created this thread... >.<

Do you still have a 60 fps video? Can you upload one?
Could it be possible that you accidentally recorded a slowmo 60 fps video instead of a normal one?
i think only the htc video player will play these in slowmo and others might call it 60 fps vids,
also bs player showed me two movies at a ridiculous frame rate of 1800+ fps hence why it could not use the svp plugin on it to double the frame rate...
of course that mp classic showed it as 24 fps and was capable of using the svp on it.
could be a video analasys glitch by mx player.
and yet video is jittery on the hox. on aosp too.
the overall video is smooth but with little stutters.
Hello
My Note 4 gets pretty hot when using camera (either when camera is just on, taking just low as 3,4 pictures or using viber, Skype or tango). Phone becomes hot in back by camera and screen area itself. Once camera goes off everything it's back to normal in a minute. Does anyone else is experiencing something like this? I asked this on another thread but this way question might get more attention and more answers.
I just realized next: when I turn the camera on and put phone next to my ear there is something like static sound coming from speaker. As aoon I exit camera, that sound is gone... Can someone try this?
Thanks!
Wow... OK. Did anyone at least try to test for this sound and press home button while holding phone by the ear?
Update:
I just got of the phone with Best Buy and they confirmed couple cases of Note 4's overheating as well. Well, at least I am not the only one...

Hi there,
I have exactly the same problem. After open the camera and take few pictures the phone back and especially phone screen will be very hot. As soon as shutdown the camera and keep phone not used about 10 minutes the phone returns to normal. I was looking for the advice how to solve this problem but so far could not find any answer. if you have any good solution please post here for reference. Thanks
coming from the htc m7, im not used to my photos being post processed on the fly. i didnt know the first set of photos i took with the note 4 it was processing filter effects on my face which leaves me nice and smooth looking.
so im thinking all that extra cpu power during camera use for on the fly post processing could be heating your phone up.
maybe scrounge around the settings and try to turn all that off??
mine doesnt overheat, the screen does get brighter when using the camera as with most phones ive used which ive always thought was on purpose when using indoors and outside.

Don't have solution, I returned that Note 4 and got another one.
Hi i loved LG G4 and that it had LG V10 camera ported to it.
Now i understand that different brand and all but is there a way to port LG V10 camera to HTC phone?
Im mainly looking at manual exposure in video mode because even after all these years HTC video recording is terrible because of framerate.
Whenever i record video in lowish light i get like 20 fps video looks terrible and laggy even tho sensor on this phone is big and can do stable 30fps in low light with a little higher iso because i also have LG V10 with smaller sensor and higher resolution which means much smaller pixel and in manual mode in same scene i put video exposure time at 1/30th or even 1/60th with iso at 600 and i get little noise while being buttery smooth.
Now this has been issue with HTC from OG days and is there a mod or port that i dont know about that can let me control exposure in video mode and i dont mind separate app for that since im using gcam for photos and get some of the best pictures ive ever seen on smartphone, even compared to latest smartphones its in top 3 definitely.
Now back to video, ive seen snapdragon camera and other, none of them does anything to video framerate.
Is there a way to set lowest exposure to 1/30th so that phone does not drop framerate do raise exposure and lower iso.
I personally dont mind grainy video in lower light but man recording campfire i dont need nightvision but for some reason phone tries so hard that it blows highlights and gets laggy as hell.
Some config mods, api mods, apk mods anything to adress this issue,i would be alfa tester for some mods if anyone has time to tinker with it,im more of hardware guy, repairing phones and modding cooling, thermal paste and pads mod, etc.
Software? Not my kind of skill.
So if someone else has some advice or existing mod i havent seen yet let me know i would gladly try it.
Sorry for typos or mistakes typing this on a phone without auto correction
Cheers and thanks in advance

Highly doubt anyone is willing to put in the work to port an LG camera app at this stage of the 10 (2015 flagship) but I cannot speak for others.
I also don't really use my camera outside normal shots so I don't have good experience with vid framerate, etc.
I will suggest that you try out the Google camera ports if you haven't already.
I have tried gcam for video but its terrible compared to stock,in gcam video recording i get stuttering an what not.
I know old phone custom development is over.
Also how it that there is no some universal camera that can use those core features available on other phones.
Unless LG uses some sort of asic for camera but i doubt it since LG V10 camera can be ported on other LG phones like G4.

Sorry wish could help more.
Gcam is the best ull see for non-sense ROMs.
There's many ports and settings you've played with that? Like changing from nexus to pixel.

I have tried other mods and setting but in any case when i pan camera its stuttery on gcam and didnt try gcam in low light tho.
Only thing i need basically is ti limit minimum fps to 30 because it drops to 20 or so in low light and panning from lets say bright window to darker room suddenly video looks blurry and smeared because of shutter speed.
Im on custom rom Leedroid using Elementalx kernel not overcloked or underclocked.
Any ideas what to try,its not professional camera i know and i dont shoot movies with infact i dont shoot maybe 2 times a week short video and i eork ina gaming club where light is dimm and sometimes some promo video needs to be recorded for social media and it looks terrible and overexposed even tho ist dark cause camera is launching shutter speed into the sky to make up for low light.
I used professional camera in full manual mode to record conferences and things like that and shutter speed half of frame time like 30 fps max exposure 1/30th but you put it to 1/60th to make video look smooth as,and only change ISO and aperture to change how bright shot is.
In any case any kernel api config profilesxml file to change that because i have LG V10 and with that things manual camera i can do wonders for video cause at the end of the day best camera is the one that you have with you all the time, amarite?
Thanks for the answer tho u will try some other ports and test just in case i missed something.
I only used apk ports,do i need flashable zip for better and more stable ports?
Any android camera experts out there feel free to add some smart teach heavy solutions.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Looking now at gcam video it is less smeary but when recording starts it hicups every second or so.
Any setting to change in dev settings of camera?
And sorry for typos in ally posts i type on the go without autocorrect, what can i say i live my life dangerously

Not the guy to ask.
Maybe one of these threads after a quick search.
Could be better threads, but thb I've probably used this camera like 30 times max since May/2015 lol so safe to say I don't take many pictures or vie.
Hope this helps.

I got this phone hoping that the quality of my concert recordings would look better than the aging nexus 5x I had. I did a couple recordings last night. Ill update it later as soon as the other two videos update. Couple things happened. During the first show it was brighter in the room and it looked better. I accidentally swiped on the phone and it ended the recording. That was frustrating when it happened and the first bands recording got cut in half. I tried using the shake free mode or whatever it was called on the first band to try to save battery. The second band got on stage and I switched it to the 4k mode. I paid no attention to the warning that popped up when i started recording. The video ended after five minutes and I wondered what the heck happened. I started recording again and noticed the warning that 4k only records 5 minutes at a time. After that I switched over to the hd stable mode. The show was quite a bit darker and the video quality was not the best. Audio was fine on all the recordings though.
So I went home and uploaded the videos... first thing I noticed was the 4k video was sideways... I held the phone the way I was supposed to... I have no idea why it recorded sideways. Thats a little annoying because i dont have the tools to fix it.
