Recommend an online unlock service? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I am traveling soon and since I am a new customer T-Mobile said I cant ask for an unlock code yet.
Can anyone please recommend a good online unlocking service?
All the websites I found look really shady. The best price I found so far is 25 dollars from cell unlocker dot net.
Should I just go with them?

I called tmobile and within 24 hours i got my unlock code for free.

You are very Funny
1. I'm not with T-mobile
2. I asked for a way to unlock...I didn't say I wasn't willing to pay
FYI, you haven't answered the question. If know a website that can unlock the phone, then post it. If not just move on!!!

wow dude, way to be an a**hole. he did answer. those are the only 2 options. search
anyway, why do you want to unlock for AT&T/Cingular anyway? you can't even use the 3G since Tmobile uses different 3G bands.
Actually i have searched, and the ones I've found are alot more than 15 dollars, so I figured if someone knew of a legit outfit that charges 15 bucks it would be a good share. I just dont want to be scamed.
Do a search on ebay. under 15.00 it worked for me and I"m on Telus.
Call either the "new" phone company or the old one......... like mentioned earlier and they will give you the code for free. It's not being cheap, it's called getting it from the right person..........
Hey thanks, I'll try ebay, I called T-mobile US but they wont give you the code until you have had the phone for 90 days. Its BS but they wont budge.
Why would you want to run it with Cingular? I mean, what's the point of having a Touch Pro2 if you don't have access to 3G/High Speed data?
Running my Touch Pro2 on EDGE would just piss me off if I was forced to do so all of the time.
I got the touch pro 2 from ebay, unlocked it from ebay too for 13 bucks, and works great.
But as somebody else said, it does not work with AT&T 3G, so I am pissed now! Not sure if I want to sell it, or just use with Edge network!

Not true called t mobile (8-12) as i got my phone at store had unlock code on less then 48 hr
I also called tmobile for the unlock code. 48 hours it was in my email inbox.
bigdee, Ssoonr:
Did you guys get the actual instructions emailed along with the code? Seems T-Mobile online are not as forthcoming with the code. I got an email telling me they sent my info directly to HTC requesting my code and that I would get an answer within 14 days. So far no code.
Did you call the local store or the toll free number online?

call the customer service at 611
I live in Germany, so I ordered mine with my TMOB account in the states. 611 won't work here, so I ended up calling their service center to order the phone, and they gave me the number to call for the sim unlock. Saw on another thread a sample of the unlock letter sent. I guess I will wait a couple more days since my phone is still in the mail and due this week. Hate to have to run a ROM flash before I get to play with this thing. Worked it out with the TMOB sales folks that I could get the code when they had a serial number for my phone, but still having to wait up to two weeks seems inconsistent compared to other folks' experiences.
Now that I mull this over - I'm gonna call them and ask for a faster unlock since other folks are getting the same. Thanks!
Well that was about as effective as a monkey fraking a football! Customer service is USELESS and has no method of contacting the Sim Unlock Department. Said to call back when I have the phone in hand, then they can possibly expedite the unlock code process.
Frustrating, but at least I know I can spend the ten bucks on cellunlock.net if they dork me around too long. =)

they usually say 48 hours or more so you don't bug them every 5 minutes, you get it usually in a day.
You have to wait 14 days from the purchase date to have the phone unlock. No exceptions!!!(because of TMo 14 day return policy).

Beware of ebay scams for the AT&T Tilt 2!

The phone is still not in stores or in the possession of resellers, it's extremely tricky to get even on AT&T's websites and phone numbers yet there are auctions like this one popping up for suckers who really really want to buy the phone but don't have a stupid Premier account. This particular seller who has no feedback claims to provide "NORESERVE,NOCONTRAC, FAST DELIVERY I HAV ALOT IN STOCK" along with Pures and unlocking codes.
I'd bet green cash that this is fraud but as of now there are seven bidders fighting at $250 and climbing. Put it this way, if I were to set out right now to rob people on eBay, I'd start with bogus Tilt 2 listings. High demand. At best the guy is a thief and these are hot phones (you don't want a hot phone with a hot IMEI number), more likely the phones don't exist and he's a full time asshole. What I'd also bet is that there will be other thieves doing what he is (but hopefully spelling better).
Point being do not, do *not* expect not to be ripped off on eBay (along with other random sites you find on google) for the Tilt 2 until at least a week after the phone has been released in stores. And if you do buy it, get the seller to produce a picture of the phone with a timestamped post-it note. If you can't get lucky with one of many tips on this thread, just wait it out. It will really mess with your head and bank account to get scammed for this phone because you couldn't wait until the 18th. Hang in there champ.
For those of you looking to unlock, don't get suckered for codes buy guys like this, go to Olipro's http://rhodium.htc-unlocks.com/ which work on all carriers' TP2s, costing you a reasonable $18 apiece.

Why would you need to pay $18.00 to somebody to unlock your phone when you can call your carrier and get them to unlock it for free ?

This guys right, I work for Vodafone Corporate Customer Services in the UK, and we provide Network Unlock Codes for all devices we provide..... for free.
I would assume that most operators would give the same service.
However, OliPro does provide Sec Unlocking with operators won't do.

[Q] SIM Unlock

I basically got this phone because it is GSM and I plan on doing more traveling outside of the country. Its not worth getting the TP2 or BB Bold instead of my EVO, so I went with this instead. I wont be leaving again until January 1st, but I need to get this thing SIM unlocked asap. Anyone have one unlocked? How did you get it unlocked and what will it cost me.
Shoot me a PM. I can get you unlocked.
You know... it's cool that you developed a way to unlock phones and want to get paid for it, but you could at least lay out the other option: calling T-mo and getting the unlock code FOR FREE.
If you are a post-paid TMO customer in good standing, you can get one phone unlocked per line every 90 days for free. Call TMO customer care.
Yes after 90 days.
If you choose to wait. IF you want it now. me
It's not after 90 days. He should call them first and then come back to you if he doesn't want to wait (if he even has to wait). I believe the T Mo rep said you had to either paid the phone in full or be a customer for 40 days when I called.
I paid full and tmobile provided me the unlock codes 1 week after I got the phone. My G2 is unlocked.

I called TMO the day I got my G2. I had the unlock code the next day before lunch.
I called today and put my request in the the unlock code. The only reason I had to wait is I haven't paid in full for the phone yet. She said it would take about 24 hours. RHCP, I've seen you in so many threads pimping your ability to unlock people for $$$... pretty despicable if you ask me especially when it's easy to just call and get it for free.
I am not sure I would characterize offering an unlock code for a fee as despicable. He's not forcing you to use his service, just offering it. I chose to call T-Mobile and request it for free, but that being said, I have certainly paid for unlocking in the past.
My (unrequested two cents), call TMO and get the code emailed to you. If you are not eligible, playing someone to do it is also an option. There have been reports of the phone not connecting to any networks after unlocking. If you get the code from TMO, at least, you might have some recourse if you have to return the phone.
Understood, just the way he's doing it. If he said "Call T-mo, but if it's a long wait then I can do it.", then I would view it in a more positive light. Right now, it looks like he's hoping for some sap that doesn't know they can call T-mobile to get it will pay him for something they can get for free.
I'm guessing T-Mobile would just ignore my request as I'm not a customer...
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think that's true. You should definitely call them.

Lumia Unlock Codes?

So I called att today and was on the phone with them for quite awhile. They were willing to unlock my lumia so i can use overseas. but after looking into it, the rep told me that the system wasn't giving her the unlock codes for my imei #. Has anyone tried to call in to get it unlock? I'm a pretty good customer for ATT so when i asked them to sim unlock they didn't turn me down at all..
I tried twice. Once as a customer, once as a non customer. When I called as a customer, they said that codes are not available yet because the phone is too new.
When I called as a non customer, they said that windows phone is in a contract with At&t that prevents them from unlocking their phones. Ever.
So clearly they are on B.S. Because they don't want their flagship devices to be unlocked.
I am expecting a code from cellphoneunlock.net in a few days which I payed $25.00 for.
I will keep you all posted on how that goes.
thanks, i saw some services online that offered to unlock it too..but im weary about those places. let me know how it turn out for u
I used cellunlocker.net for my Galaxy Note. I ordered the code from the same site for the Lumia 900, but I paid $29 for it. I can follow up when I get the code.
I'm also about to put my hands in a Lumia 900 and unlock it to use it in Mexico but if they won't give me the code as with sifusky or Nissan350.
I'll wait until someone confirms via cellphoneunlock.net
I'll be watching impatiently this thread.
I called them and they said that ATT has an agreement with Nokia that they will not be unlocking these phones, much like they had with the iphone for almost 5 years.
This is even though I paid full price ($450) for my phone.

Not really like iPhone but AT&T has put every new phone it releases recently on so called 10-month exclusivity period. During such period, no unlock code can be given out.
Usually, if you call 8 or 9 months after initial release, you will get your code.

This one is tough. I bought my Galaxy S2 unlocked and was able to get my unlock code right away. But some others are not so lucky. It depends who you were talking to and how much they are willing to go above and beyond besides simply reading the scripts. I calmly told the CSR on the phone that I paid full price for the phone and expect an unlock code from them with no excuses. They asked me to fax in my receipt to prove I did purchased it at full price and send me the unlock code right away.

Question Suggestions on unlocking service

I switched from T-mobile to Verizon thinking that I could just continue paying the monthly installments and use it on the Verizon network. Now I am paying $30/mo for a phone that doesn't work on my network. There are a bunch of sites that claim to unlock your device but they very widely in price. Does anyone have experience using a service like this? Any suggestions on which to use?
Try to find a free method. A lot of the sites are legit, but I can not vouch for specific one?

I didn't come across any free options, but some were up to $120!
A lot of them overcharg. If you can pay with something like PayPal which you can request a refund for, do so.
Tale a reletivly cheap one with good reviews on a known reviewing site.

That's what I had been doing, I just thought I would throw it out there on here to see if anyone had first hand exoerience
I have use SIMDoctor in the past, you can usually find a coupon code or something to get it cheaper.
I am trying to find an unlock for AT&T right now, going overseas for 6+ months and I'm not spending $1,800 for their garbage "Day Passes", and it's financed so they won't unlock it.
Unfortunately, at least for AT&T, none of these unlocking services have the unlock codes. Seems like AT&T went out of their way to make sure people can't unlock early.
Thank goodness that the U.K. banned carrier locked phones a year ago...
Mobile companies now banned from selling locked handsets
Mobile phone companies are now banned from selling customers locked handsets, under new Ofcom rules that come into force today (17 December 2021).

Such a rip-off that you cannot use your mobile on the carrier of your choice and get the best and cheapest plans.

That should be one of the special requests that you can get them to unlock it if the phone is paid off or not, have you tried calling and letting them know you have to leave the country for work? It's worth a shot sense it should be free

Yeah; They gave me two options, pay for "Day Pass" (roughly $1,800 if I stay as long as I'm scheduled) or pay off the phone ($1,600). If I pay off the phone, I was told they'd remove my trade in promotion credits (which was $1,000).
I should have known not to buy a phone from AT&T...
