No such thing as a best ROM. Make a backup, try the ROM for a bit. Rinse and repeat for another ROM. 50 different people will give you 50 different answers as to whats "best".

Just fukin flash. Too many of these threads.

I have been using rooted stock but I am waiting for CM10 or JB AOKP RC at least, it will probably be a while but it will be worth the wait.
I am kind of done with the flashing a ROM everyday thing. Unless it is a nightly, where i don't have to redo my whole setup again.

This is the truth. Read up on the features of each one, try flashing it and if it doesn't fit what you are looking for, try again. At some point you will find one you like or decide to stay stock until something else comes out.

Hi, Im running Rasbean Jelly, available over at euroskank, google it cause i cant post outside links yet
Its for GSM only though. Im using it with Trinity Kernel and having used several other popular JB ROMs, IMO its noticeably the fastest and very stable, has some useful features over stock too! the battery life is as good as stock, again IMO. flash it and see
Actually the battery life is better than stock, i get one and a half, two days out of a full charge, with moderate use. Before Trinity Kernel though i was charging everyday. the kernel really improves the battery life. I'll flash it with every rom from now on although i wont be leaving Rasbean in the near future!

Its all personal preference. I was on Paranoid with trinity kernel and got a full days worth of battery if that helps you out.

Yeah thats very true. I used PA with Franco Kernel on ICS and got similar battery life. used to like features galore like CM9/10, prefer closer to stock now. theres plenty of ROMs to choose from for any preference anyway.

So far Im using MiINCO and cant complain about it. Not many features but its the official suported ROM from Franco (and its kernel). Its an AOSP ROM.

AOSP with the latest binaries for me.

try this it's mine 1,5/2 days battery life with normal use (web/phone/messaging) here is the thread for info:

Depends on what you need.
You don't need a lot of features, just go with stock
You want best performance, I believe liquid gives one of the best performance
You want customization, cyanogen or aokp has awesome features

Smoothest JB rom?

Hi!
I wonder which JB rom i should choose if i prefer smoothness before functions?
There are only twofunctions that i really want. First of all a T9 dialer is a requirement, I also want to change the Navbar hight so that the buttons get smaller.
Wich rom should i choose?
Thank you in advance!
Mincos was very smooth while I was using it but I found that the battery life wasn't that good. This was on v3 but test yourself

Stock. I'm all about battery life, stock + trinity is not bad in terms of smoothness. I'm still testing the battery life but so far it seems aokp + trinity is better.
Will report back later

Yes.
Like I always say, just go with stock if you want smoothest ROM. If you want more customization and such, that's where custom ROMs come in.
I also found that all the kernels that I've used (Stock, Air, Franco, Trinity, Popcorn) has about same battery life with some tweaks, such as undervolting, underclocking and such.

I love the extra options a custom kernel 'unlocks' though. As for the battery life, so far I haven't seen much (if any) difference between franco's kernel and stock.
Use AOKP build 1 with milestone 5 as my kernel, and i might say it flows like well butter. Tried Android Revolution Hd and AndroidMe Cm10 and found AOKP the best.

I personally recommend the CM10 Euroskank Jellybro ROM. In combination with the Air Kernel. You have tons of options, extreme smoothness all the time, no random reboots, and absolutely astounding battery life.

Rasbean Jelly ROM with Trinity Kernel. Best combo ever if you are using a GSM version.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Both CM10 and AOKP feel the same to me. It's the kernel that makes the big performance differences.
As far as ROMs I like AOKP for the UI features and Franco works well for performance and battery.
Stock for battery and smoothness
i'm currently testing ARHD+FauxKernel so far so good =]

My vote goes to the GS3
Same question as "what ROM are you using". No one can tell you what is best for you. You have to try them and see. They are all good.
These threads are frowned upon because everyone uses their phone differently.

Wicked v3 IMO; Can't say it's "THE" best rom out there but it's really great as a daily and very stable as well.
I am running xquizit v50... It's based of the uvalh2 unlike most other roms based off the older uvalg1..
And it's buttery smooth

Currently I am running Wicked v3 with trinity A46
I get very good battery life (the best I've seen since I've got this device) and have no issues with anything.
I tried jellybro, crimson, xquizit, freegs3, and will be sticking with wicked for the time being.
I am also on wicked, though if the rumors are correct, I will be on stock jb as soon as it drops. Wicked has been good for me.

Whats the md5sum for the Trinity versions you guys are using?
I'm currently on the kernel that came with v3(Faux?) and i'm considering switching to Trinity since i've hard a lot about it's battery life.
I am running just a stock deodexed rom, with the sammy kernel. Underclocked to 1.2ghz and undervolted on every frequency by 100mv.
With the lowest clockspeed set to 96mhz

Best ROM ever for S3 is FoxHound. It is very complex, stable, fast, lots of twiks, great battery life, lots of customization from the stock to the newest features, no wonder it has 850Mb. During the installation you have lots of choices to make with everything you like from choosing the kernel up to the themes. Do not loose time by installing and uninstalling all Roms possible. I also liked ParanoidAndroid or the new Aosp from it. But nothing compares with FoxHound. It's worthy to pay the guy for it. Good luck http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708371

I'm on the final stable build of liquid smooth built from 4.1.2 and love it. It's extremely debloated (less than 100mb) but still has tons of options. It's also insanely stable and obviously... Smooth. Mind you this is my first rom on the nexus, but it has all the options cm10 had on my fascinate.
Try them all. It takes very little time and it's fun. I also wouldn't stop at those. There are so many good ROMs out there and it's fun checking them out. You have to find out what features are important and what you're willing to sacrifice.

I would recommend AOKP, although they are currently still making 4.2 version ( WTF TAKES SO LONG?!) they have the same costumazation like CM10 just lighter and faster. i am using them for both my 2 phones and my tablet.
I would recommend paranoid android if your looking to try something completely new for your phone, but if you prefer stock look than rasbean or atom are good ones, especially Atom since the betas for 4.2 just dropped and if its anything like it was in 4.1.2 than it would be flying.

CM builds and battery like?

Guys got a quick question. I usually run stock based roms. I've ran most of the CM builds for a little bit. Not really long enough to get a good idea about which CM Rom has the best battery life once the Rom settles in...I usually get impatient and flash back to my stock based custom, or stock modded Rom..
So that being said, I want to give a CM build a good run a week or so. But one of my main conversation is battery life. But I'd like to get some suggestions before I start flashing. As to avoid running several different roms..
Long story short what CM build would you suggest for battery life & why?
Thanks in advanced.

You aren't actually getting lower signal. Stock based ROMs falsely show better signal so the carrier can say they have more coverage. I could have 5 bars on stock while only have 2 on AOSP yet the dBms are exactly the same. AOSP shows you what you're actually getting.

I will say that battery-wise, I'm pretty even across all ROMs in that I get about 3 hrs of screen on time no matter how long I'm off the charger. I must be pretty consistent in how I use my device, because that seems to hold since I flashed the madmack modem. And I'm actually on Beanstalk now. I flash nearly constantly because I love features of all ROMs and can't commit to just one

You aren't actually getting lower signal. Stock based ROMs falsely show better signal so the carrier can say they have more coverage. I could have 5 bars on stock while only have 2 on AOSP yet the dBms are exactly the same. AOSP shows you what you're actually getting.

Just for $h!t$ ad giggles, an update. This is latest Beanstalk, stock kernel, Interactive governor and deadline scheduler. Pretty sweet.

I've been using CM 11 M4 and M5 for the last 3 weeks and it's much better than the stock one. Just don't know why some time CM11 automatically switch the CPU frequency to 1.1ghz then switch back to 1.7ghz all the time

I had it on my but there was something consuming my battery really fast. Something called keyguardtest. Or something like that, aren't you experiencing the same drain in battery?
Never had that one. My battery life has actually improved from what I posted earlier, as the ROM has settled in nicely. Not sure about keyguardtest.
