Updates to GNex first. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

As you may have noticed google releases updates first to it's devices. Of course I'm curious to know when the next will be, not that I hate JB, but updates are so exciting. I bought the GSM phone from the play store, so I should receive the updates first, right? Last thing, has KLP been confirmed?

So obviously the best course of action is to bump them.
To the OP: No one knows anything about KLP-- no concrete details have been leaked or officially announced thus far. But I think it's very safe to assume that you should not expect it until Q1 or Q2 2013.

Sorry for my curiosity.

We literally just got Jellybean . . . . . . .

^ this. are you kidding me? this is why small updates come out without huge feature increases, because people have barely had the newest thing and they're demanding more already.
seriously close this thread, no good discussion will come of it.

The Google guys can't be that retarded to release a new version of android when there are no other phones with jelly bean besides the nexus s and gnex. I think the next major update (aka klp) will be announced june - july 2013. Till then we will get minor updates (4.1.2, 4.1.3...)

For god sakes people, calm down! A guy can't ask out of curiosity? You swear I'm ungrateful. Why would I be after I spent nearly $400USD on it. Ganging up on a curious guy. Excuse me for thinking, apparently it's illegal to think here.

A new nexus is always released with a new system version if history is to repeat itself.
Nexus One - Eclair/Froyo
Nexus S - Gingerbread
Galaxy Nexus - Ice Cream Sandwich
Nexus 7 - Jellybean
Assuming history is followed we should be able to expect a new version with the next nexus. But we must keep in mind googles plan for 1 major update/year and with that in mind it could be June when we get our next major release.

are you kidding me? the facts he gave you about the different Nexus phones are EASILY google-able.
the rest is just him speculating anyways, which accomplishes nothing other than to sort of semi-satisfy your "blind curiosity" that is clearly you just trying to blind us with the fact that you're LAZY to look it up yourself.
Go to rumor sites if you want speculation, this is NOT rumor site, and this forum for the Nexus even less-so.

Jellybean Countdown to OTA Thread: Galaxy Nexus Edition

My guesses for release:
GSM/HSPA+ (yakju/takju) - Mid july as stated.
GSM/HSPA+ (non-yakju) - I'd bet you won't see the first one until mid September.
CDMA/LTE (Verizon/mysid) - Giving Verizon two months to test Google's ROM, I say mid September.
CDMA/LTE (Sprint/mysidspr) - Considering Samsung AND Sprint both have to get their paws into this, I'm guessing mid October at the earliest.
Discuss.

As sad as it is, I'm thinking September also. Assuming yakju is getting it OTA in a couple weeks, this makes sense. Just look at how long it took Verizon to make a small point release to 4.0.4... I really wish they got it out sooner but I won't be surprised.
Dont forget that the PDK have been out to google partners for a few weeks..

Yes, that was my first impression, when I saw CNA was back. Uncertain about the whole situation this dev had with his kang bash. But it's up to you whether to support the Dev or not? Or I think its only up to those who got the harm from any previous actions, and only them shall accept the apology. Or we can just use the ROM and move on with the old story? It's 50/50 opinion. Feel free to state

Do you think we will receive the next version of android?

Whether it will be vers. 4.3 or 5.0, do you think GSM galaxy nexus will get it?
Personally I think it will. Simply becaus even if Google decides to release the new version of android in combination with a new device, it won't be a new phone. ( Maybe a new nexus 7, but not a new flagship phone )
Nexus S didn't receive android 4.2 not because it's CPU couldn't handle it, but because Google wanted customers to focus on the nexus 4.
I think we will be good for the next 100 years
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
1) The nexus s didn't receive the update due to storage issues in the sector partitioned for OS. There is workarounds to this but it requires wiping devices and Google just can't do that to the mass public.
2) The galaxy nexus is only 12 months old, Google promises support for 18 months and likely even longer.
3) The galaxy nexus has a faster CPU then the nexus s and a similar GPU but the galaxy nexus has 1gb of space partitioned for OS.
4) Based on the above facts I can say with great certainty that we Galaxy Nexus owners will be receiving the next OS update.

As from what I read on the galaxy nexus it has 1gb for the OS. Nexus 4, I personally don't care about since I won't be getting one and therefore have no clue.

Nexus S recieved 3 updates. After 1.5 year stopped supporting it. Gnex has received 3 major updates. Its 1 year old and 3 months...
So i believe it is time to say goodbye to Google pure AOSP support and based on developers for the new updates
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I'am confident that google would release the next version for GneX, there's non reason to leave it back, while for the NexS was explained why the official development was stopped! I only hope they put more attention in the development stage because 4.2 has a lot of silly bug that a good JUnit coverage could have found before the release (aka december bug, but why not mentioning the camera).
I am sure, we will definitely get the update! GNexus has a good hardware!
hopefully next 3 months, a major revamped ver, instead of something like buggy Android 4.2
Yes I think we will definitely get at least 1 more major release.

As far as I know, the gnex has only received 2 major updates: 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 to 4.2. I think that most people would agree that the 4.0.2 - 4.0.4 were minor updates, as were the 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 and the 4.2 to 4.2.1 updates.
As others have said, if be very surprised if the gnex doesn't get at least one more major update.

Google working on Android 4.3

http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...and-testing-android-4-3-its-still-jelly-bean/
Any thoughts? Google might unveil 4.3 on the I/O this May instead of KLP 5.0. I could be wrong though. Honestly I could care less if it's KLP or 4.3 I'm just hoping that Google fixes what they broke on 4.2.
Anyone's guess here. Maybe a quick update to 4.3 for minor issues, and jump to 5.0 later in the summer. I've seen reports of server logs with Android 5.0.1 on a Google X device, and now this report of 4.3. I think JBQ and his team aren't sleeping much these days.
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
I'm guessing 4.3 this coming May and later this year it will be the next Nexus + KLP. Anyhow in less than 30 days we'll know
I hope 4.3 will be just an update. An update like bug fixing shouldn't need a special event. Then a Motorola Google phone or Nexus (or maybe it's same) for a Google I/O. KLP should also be there with the new devices.

My guess is the middle or end of July and key lime pie by October since that's when the Moto X might be released and Google wants to have Motorola flagship phone on the newest version of android.Im thinking they wont release a new nexus device this year and the Moto X will be there nexus for this year with stock android and a few good customizations such as their 3 ring clock widget, quick setting, smart actions etc. from Razr HD line of phones.

We all thought they wouldn't release a nexus device last year, but then they hit the nexus 4 to the market. I really don't know any more. They have become less predictable. Which I really don't mind. This.
Also, I believe 4.3 will drop sometime this fall, around Oct. or Nov., because that's when the next Nexus is rumored to be released.
And apparently, it is likely going to be made by LG again and not Motorola as suggested above.
I'm just waiting to be able to run an AOSP ROM with Bluetooth AVRCP. So I guess as soon as they release the source ...
thanks for all the feedback.
I wonder what new features Google could possibly pack into 4.3? I think 4.3 will be a minor update, then KLP will hit us hard!!
Google need to slow it down so everyone can catch up to the latest Android operating system. To many updates and os versions make it hard for developers. One or two updates is good enough google keep going and going.
