I have an xperia play that works just fine. But a friend has asked me to look at his xperia play which has been physically damaged.
After looking through a few lil videos, I found out that when turning on the Xperia play, while the phone is on the SONY ERICSSON logo I can press BACK or SEARCH or the MENU button repetitively and it accesses the recovery menu. I was under the impression you had to hold the button down.
In any event...recovery mode isn't working on this physically broken phone. If you leave the SONY ERICSSON logo on too long, it eventually goes to this "static tv" screen.
I know it's a far shot...but is there any hope for this guy? I've plugged it into FLASH TOOL and it detects it...but any button I try and click on gives me an error message.
As far as I know, in a stock phone there isn't a recovery You need to install it (market, etc etc)
What error?

You cannot boot it on flashmode since the screen is not turning on. Just vibrate right? and blackout screen? I know the problem is flex. I'm 90% sure . I had same problem then. You should bring it to the nearest sony repair center to be replace.
What is flex ?
So no chance to repair my phone by myself ?

No, unless you know how troubleshoot hardware parts. Flex is a cable that connects your lower part (touchpad) to the screen. Maybe it broke because of sliding the pad frequently. Now I don't use my pad or I slide it with much care now. I only use it once in awhile because I'm afraid to mess with it again. Since the xperia play is a 2011 product, the parts are also rarely available. You can call to the sony repair center if they have flex for your xperia play and you'll be lucky if you find one. They will tell you to call back for two weeks if they don't have because they will order it first. Try all the sony repair center on your city. But for now, try doing this: Remove your battery to be sure it is turned off, put it back, then charge it. When the led light turned on to the on/off button(usually orange when below 90%), then try sliding the pad. Try sliding it many times. It will turn on if your flex is slightly working. If the screen is still black, then the flex is totally broken.
You can boot into flashmode by holding back button and plug your usb(you phone should be turned off)if your power button led turn to green you boot to fastboot correctly
Then download the last firmware and flash it with flashtool

Hi,
I desperately need help with my xperia ion. The battery seems to be broken. When I charge the phone, the red light lights up. A few seconds later the phone tries to turn on. The screen lights up but then shuts off again even before the xperia logo appears. It keeps doing that every few seconds. I tried the volume up/down and holding the power key. The phone vibrates once and then a blue led screen lights up and nothing happens.
I already ordered a new phone but I desperately need to recover one of the messages I received. Sony companion doesn't see the phone so I don't know what else to do.
Please help!
Hello.
I've been having some problems with my phone recently. First, my main camera stopped working. Then, some strange resets appeared. I managed to repair phone in Xperia Companion software, but now I can not turn my phone on. It shows blue screen, then Sony logo and blue screen again. Any ideas? Greetings
My Sony Xperia T3 after the fall on the road blinking red and green and only when it is connected to the laptop. When I do a hard reset by pressing the press button and Volume + lights up blue light, but does not boot the system. When I connect it to a charger, there is a Sony logo and restarts and so constantly. Was gone motherboard or can you do, on the battery is a cell phone dead.
