Well you can just stay unlocked flash a recovery and then require root by flashing it through recovery or android market or you can try to gain s- off with taco root in one of the threads here somewhere which where you can follow I would totally recommend getting S-Off tho

I used it yesterday to successfully unlock my bootloader. Read every step word for word (twice) and don't skip anything.
I cant succeed at taco root and when I go to HTC unlock bootloader page I don't see where the process actual is like I said I select device and click the unlock bootloader highlighted in green but now what do I do?

Why are you using taco root? That tool is for downgrading to s-off. For that to work, You need to re-lock bootloader and follow the instructions to s-off. Having a unlocked bootloader will cause errors. htcdev is something pretty useless because we have s-off, just my opinion.
My software is up to date so no root or s-off methods work I read taco root will work but I myself am not talented enough apparently to do this. All the one click methods including a one click downgrade method does not work (vivow hack). So I assumed HTC tool would get me to at least be able to flash a custom Rom. Does anyone have any suggestions to make me a happier dinc2 owner?

I know this sounds sketchy, but if you want to pay for shipping, send it to my place I'll do the tacoroot method for you and send it back. PM me if you're interested, I figured I'd throw it out there.

You could try using teamviewer (think that's what its called) to remote access his computer an walk gin through it. Might be faster.

After you click the green button that says "Begin Unlock Bootloader", there is a popup. If you're not getting that, maybe your browser is blocking popups? Maybe you can temporarily disable that?

Since you are planning to root, why not go all the way and install a custom rom that is already rooted. You can try this one, it seems to offer great batterylife http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705334&page=52

The tool you have linked to does not work on the One X. Currently, the only way of achieving root on this device is to use the HTCDev.com bootloader unlock tool, then flash a custom recovery, which will allow you to flash a rooted (custom) ROM. Please look in the development sections, there are plenty of tutorials such as this one.
Never use tools that are not specifically meant for the One X. Frankly I'd stay away from automated scripts and tools for doing critical stuff like rooting, etc.. Rooting One X is pretty straightforward. Here is a video guide:
Step 1 : Unlock the bootloader
Step 2: Install CWM and Root

I wil when I can. Basicly when I enter the code on htcdev it says that my code isn't right.
And trust me it is the right code.

The 'bootloader unlock allowed: yes' doesnt always ahow up. It depends on the android version and some other things. Anyway, if it shows no value for it or it even doesnt show up at all, it means you cannot unlock you BL, not at least by IMEI code method. It is possible through a paid method by alejandrissimo, a well known and trusted member of xda. Just take a look on unlock-bootloader.com (maybe its free now, I dont know)
For unrooting, you should try flashtool (zerg-rush), or the unroot tool, maybe they work on r800at

I get your uneasiness, but in the simplest terms, if the bootloader is S-ON and not HTCDev unlocked, it is locked.
You can unlock the bootloader from the HTCDev website, but there are caveats for flashing custom ROMs, namely that the boot.img file needs to be extracted from the ROM and flashed separately using fastboot.
The easier approach is to use the methods outlined to gain S-OFF. This gives you more control not only to flash custom ROMs, but also unsigned radios.
I tried it both ways (HTCDev and S-OFF). I'm much happier being S-OFF.

You don't have to be s-off to flash a custom Rom. You have to be s-off to flash a ruu or a radio though.

Rumrunner hasn't worked for about the past 4 updates. So unless the phone has been kept in a closet and not updated that would be a waste of time as well.
