Q>message tone alert - HTC One X

how do i change the sms/message tone?

Unfortunaly you can only change the Notification Sound which will be applied on the SMS/MMS as well.

Open messaging app. Hit menu then settings. Option to change tone is in there

Change the order of events

How do you change the order of events? I.e. for sms text notification, I have 2 apps, 1 announces the name of the sender, the other gives multiple vibrates and then I get the sms notification tone. So how can I reverse what happens first? > tone/announce/multi vibrate ?

What i the correct way to modify the sound for incoming sms text messaging?

I tried changing the sound then sending myself a text. I did also reboot after changing the default and I still get the ding dong type sound which is not the sound I set for it. The sound it makes is Pollux for incoming SMS messages but I've tried to set it to several others such as even vega or proxima but it always makes the Pollux sound.
I'm going through
- settings
- Sound
- default notification
Is there some place else I should be going to to change the sms incoming text sound?
There are also app specific notification settings.
To change the SMS sound going into the settings of the messaging app.

Nfc task launcher and changing notification sounds

I am trying to setup a tag in my car to change the notification sounds to silent so my wife doesn't ask "what was that" every time I get an email and it isn't working. Has anyone been successful in using nfc task launcher to do this? I this is on a HTC One x. I tried to turn the volume down but the ringer and notification sounds are linked. Please help

Edit: Grabbed a one X and gave it a shot. HTC makes default and silent the same thing >.> so when you set silent it selects default. I'll dive in tomorrow and get it sorted. Thanks HTC for another oddball implementation...
I even downloaded a silent tone from zedge and it still doesn't work
Edit: I just checked again with one of the other tones and it worked but with the tone named silence didn't work. The one that did work wa an HTC preinstalled tone though so maybe it won't work with non HTC tones I don't know.

Interestingly on my One X I can't even manually set it to silent for notification tone. Normally this would correlate to -1 as the media store position. Can you manually set the tone to slient on your one x?

The only way is to use a silent ring tone from somewhere like zedge. The volume for ringer and notification sounds are linked.

There is a "silent" option in the sound picker for AOSP devices. This is non functional though on HTC devices it seems (which is unfortunate).

Disable beep noise notification of new email while on the phone

Can't find a setting for it but when on the phone I get a single beep when a new mail arrives. How do you turn that off?
Which email app are you using? Go to the settings on app, not on Android.

You are missing my point. Notification is not set to make any noise. My ringtone is set to "none". When you are on the phone (on a call) and an email comes in, the phone makes a beep in your ear....a distinct short beep almost like a call waiting tone. This is the thing I am trying to get rid of.
