Nfc task launcher and changing notification sounds - NFC Hacking

I am trying to setup a tag in my car to change the notification sounds to silent so my wife doesn't ask "what was that" every time I get an email and it isn't working. Has anyone been successful in using nfc task launcher to do this? I this is on a HTC One x. I tried to turn the volume down but the ringer and notification sounds are linked. Please help

Edit: Grabbed a one X and gave it a shot. HTC makes default and silent the same thing >.> so when you set silent it selects default. I'll dive in tomorrow and get it sorted. Thanks HTC for another oddball implementation...

I even downloaded a silent tone from zedge and it still doesn't work
Edit: I just checked again with one of the other tones and it worked but with the tone named silence didn't work. The one that did work wa an HTC preinstalled tone though so maybe it won't work with non HTC tones I don't know.

Interestingly on my One X I can't even manually set it to silent for notification tone. Normally this would correlate to -1 as the media store position. Can you manually set the tone to slient on your one x?

The only way is to use a silent ring tone from somewhere like zedge. The volume for ringer and notification sounds are linked.

There is a "silent" option in the sound picker for AOSP devices. This is non functional though on HTC devices it seems (which is unfortunate).

Volume of the HTC One X

Hi,
Anyone else noticing the volume for notifications (sms, email, whatsapp) & also the ringing seem to be really quiet?
I've maxed out the settings but I still find myself missing txts, emails & even calls sometimes..
Anyway of boosting this?
Cheers

Volume level problem (HTC One V)

This is happening with me regularly. If I set the ringtone/notification volume low during office hours, it automatically increases if I answer a call or make a call. And similarly if I am at home and have kept my volume at max, it automatically get reduced to minimum level on answering/making call. Its really annoying bug and not sure if it Android 4.0 or HTC bug
Also I am not sure how to notify HTC of such many more bugs found in One V
Maybe you have the option enabled which automatically lowers the ringing, in case of an incoming call, when the phone is moved. Check out the settings to see if you do.

Man, these are end user 'bug'. Stop *****in' about HTC's quality when you are not able to change some settings in your phone, buy a nokia 3310.
Htc has provided some high quality phones since HTC Hero till now. My phone has so many years and it's still the same. No hardware problems at all, the battery is still the same, display also.
Before entering in a forum and post something stupid like this, try and turn your phone up side down, enter in every menu, set every setting available...
I agree, I'm impressed with my current htc! It's absolutely sensational
The problems you mentioned aren't problems at all, they're just settings that come by default and can of course be changed.

Haha lol no I'm pretty sure he's not
the default settings are set, wherein first the phone would ring low and if you don't pick it up the ringing will increase. Another thing is that the volume will decrease if the phone is moved while ringing..!
But these can be turned off in the settings so no reason for it to be an issue! Jeezzzzz people! :what:

Hi, even I am facing same issue with HTC Desire V which I bought 1month back. Ring tone volume is getting increased or decreased automatically without my interaction. Even flashing is done at HTC Service Centre. But, the issue is not resolved yet.
Please help to resolve this issue

Hi,
Even i am facing the same issue, the ringtone change abruptly.
I noticed that the volume gets changed to the that of the volume of the last income call, after making an outgoing call. Its a bug in this phone.
If u disable the flip for speaker option everything works well.

[Q] In-call volume always on max

Hi All,
I'm a proud owner of a HTC One X and I love it I found one annoying issue though - each time I receive or make a call the in-call volume is set to max by default. I have to adjust it manually each time I make/receive a call. I tried using Audio manager but this hasn't helped. Anyone seeing the same issue?
Thanks in advance!

Which ROM are you using?
Hi
I'm using the stock HTC sense 4 that came installed with 1.29.401.11.
Thanks

I have never had this issue, except on AOSP ROMs. Try a full reset from settings menu, this will also wipe SD card partition so backup first.
Let me know if that fixes it.

Turning vibrate off the alarm ?

I can only see an option for vibrate on notifications
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Setting is in the alarm itself, where you choose alarm tone
Sent from my HTC One X
Had I done this in would have been very late for work this morning as despite not being on silent my various alarms that I use every day decided not to make a sound. Luckily the power and noise of the vibrate was enough to awake me from my slumber.
I am wondering if this is an extension of the bug that stops the messaging app notifying me of text messages occasionally.

I gave up on finding one that does that. Instead I found "profile scheduler". Is free in the market. Have it set up to change profiles automatically, and only allow contacts to ring my phone at night with no notifications. Not sure if that's what you are looking to do but it's pretty configurable.

Suuuuper happy with it. There is a free trial version available as well.

You could flash custom roms as most roms incorporates this feature haha. Rasbeanjelly would be a good and stable rom to try, but it really is your own choice to flash whichever rom or to remain on stock.

Yeh ive tryed that app.. it works but it wont separate ringtone from notification volume..
I wont the notifications to be silent but the ringtone to stay on at night, cuz i work outta town and worry about my fiancée needin to get ahold of me for emergencies..
Acouple months ago she broke her ancle and almost died cuz she bled out and couldnt get to her phone, so i worry alittle bit now... she laid there from 2am till 9am when i got home.. it scares the **** outta me now..

I've used light flow to do this. It has a night mode and can have different sounds for notifications. Then I set apps (Gmail, etc) to be silent in the app settings and light flow handles notifications.

Not sure why this is not working for you, but it works fine for me.
It won't separate the sliders in the standard Jelly Bean menu, but when you set up a profile you can set ringtone and notification volumes individually.
A big issue I always had was that when I turn up the ringer volume all the way since the GN has a fairly low speaker volume my notification sounds would also be super loud.
With this app I can have my ringer at full volume and my notification at a comfortable level or mute (at work for example).
You can also create schedules for profiles and have them activate automatically at scheduled times.
