it charges via computer and all that but it wont mount the sd so i can copy/move files frokm computer
Which Rom are you using....some of them are having USB mounting issues....I know one of at least one cyanogenmod nightlies is having issues from putting mexdroid or whatever it was called on my phone so I assume some more of the nightlies have issues but that is just an assumption. So yea that would be my best guess.
Need to know what ROM you're using, and did it work before you made any changes or has it never worked?

its stock rom... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836042...i downloaded the odex
when you connect your phone to your computer, drag down the notificatiom bar and select use device as "disk drive". this will mount your phone as you wish as a storage drive which is what allows you to use third party programs like doubletwist. there is also other options like pc sync and charge only, which is what you are stuck on.
thats the problem...it wont show anything on the notificationbar as it is supposed to...is there other ways i can reinstall original rom??
Im using mexdroind! And on mine in Windows 7 it shows all the drivers but my phone pops up as a MTP device??? Why is tthat and how do i fix it?

First tell us what you have done already. Which phone you have. Is it rooted. More info please so we can help you. Did you install the correct drivers on your PC, etc.

I think it could be your USB Debugging Mode. Enable it on your mobile.

I also would lke more info on what MTP device is.... and how to install the driver for it... cause I am hoping that would be a work around to solve the usb mount problems on flippy125 kernel untill he releases a new one... btw you can flash a different kernel like pershoots and it should go away and work fine..(then flash back!) Lol
Or just mount usb via recovery...

My Samsung Galaxy S2X was working fine after the ICS update, but since two days I,m unable to connect the phone to my laptop. It tries to install the software automatically and after a while it give out an error saying that Samsung Mobile MTP Device failed. Earlier, the phone directly gave the option in the notification bar to connect as an USB storage but now it shows up Connected as a Media device.
I've tried every option available, from deleting files with 16 characters to re-installing Kies and the USB drivers. I tried connecting the phone to different computers but the problem still persists.
Another issue after the update was that the Bluetooth transfer rate is very slow with ~30kbps transfer rate which earlier in GB was 3Mbps+.
I'm wondering if its got something to do with the new ICS update or am I the only one with this issue? The device is on stock ICS and is not rooted.
Thanks for any HELP...
EDIT:
Solved the problem by doing a factory reset.

After connection the only option in the notification bar is "connected as a media device-touch for more USB options"and this opens the MTP settings.

Which system? Windows or android? and what do you mean by "restoring"? Factory settings?
I have been having the same problem for 2 months now. I don't know what's wrong. I have tried EVERYTHING! Nothing works!
I even installed the drivers while the phone is turned off, turned on with debug mode and when battery is taken off while connected: the OMAP4430 drivers: and still it didn't work, lol. I don't know what the hell is wrong with that f***er, lol? It won't give in!
I removed all Kies with all drivers many times, like 6 or 7 times, connected the phone to pc while it's off then turned the pc on, changed cable, usb port, tried different computers, tried this *#7284# thing, etc... The only thing i didn't try is black magic and voodoo! Or maybe i should try hypnosis? Or electric DC shock?
Anyway, if you have found a solution, please let me know

Wow...2 months is quite some time. Please do a factory reset on your Android by going to settings-> backup and reset-> factory data reset.
Your phone should reset back to factory settings and you're good to go.

I have the phone connected to my usb port. Before I flashed I was able to mount it in finder just fine, copy files back and forth without any problems. Now it is not recognized. I tried using Android File Transfer, but that states that there is no device found, even though adb says that there is. Kind of strange... Anybody have any ideas how to fix this? Thanks
Uncheck ADB debugging, I think.

I tried both ADB debugging on and off, sorry I should have said that. It has me stumped. I was just trying to transfer over some radios to flash as I lost all network connection a few minutes after flashing this last nightly. So confused...
Oh well. Just pulled my SD and transferred direct. I will keep looking around for a solution to this USB connection though.

I had to try a few different USB ports on my computer before I could get it to connect. Oddly it connected perfectly first time with Kies via WiFi (Settings -> More Settings -> Kies via WiFi) - but of course you can't update that way.

Ok, so ive downloaded and installed the latest drivers, enabled usb debugging, allowed unsigned apps etc. but whenever i get to the point of running motochopper it gets stuck on "daemon started successfully". ive checked my model number and its the correct device to be able to root but i cant get it to go past that message. Am i missing something? Ive tried following several guides on rooting the s4 with motochopper and i always end up in the same place. Ive tried rebooting the phone and my pc several times. so i dont know what im missing
UPDATE: so i just tried it again and it says that "'adb is not recognized as an internal or exterbal command, operable program or batch file."
i get this error when i run the program as admin. If i run the .bat file normally it gives the previous error

Do you have the correct drivers installed? If so, you could uninstall and reinstall them. Also, have you tried PTP connection rather than MTP?

Been there done that and have always eventually been able to get it back so the computer sees the device as mtp. Wugs toolkit has always been helpful
To me. I like the step by step directions for manually updating the drivers and configuring them correctly in adb AND fastboot.
Bit I have come to an impass..........I am currently on the latest carbon nightly, with f2fs file storage for data and cache. My computer will not recognize the device in mtp and I am unable to pass files with a USB cable. I am wondering if my computer has to be compatible with f2fs, because iam sure that it is not. Will this make a difference PR should I once again uninstall and reinstall the drivers configuring them correctly?

Plug it in to a computer.
Boot into recovery if you have one
Adb devices......hopefully it shows and work from there.
Or boot into bootloader mode (after getting the twrp IMG)
Fastboot flash recovery......
Then you can side load your favorite OS

this worked for me im just passing along a possible fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383146&page=389 post #3888 is the one I followed and been no problems since. also cpl days before in my sdk program google had updated drivers which may or may not have played a roll. before this I could not pass files with mtp only ptp would allow my device to appear. hope it helps!
edit also should note I did device manager then android devices removed drivers in there. plugged in n7 and the adb composite interface drivers installed and that was it. if that doesn't do it make sure sdk has updated google driver which should be 10.0.0 or something don't quite remember exact #
