I installed Jelly Belly v5.3 after super wiping, with both the JB boot loader and Trinity kernel. Since then I can't get ADB to connect nor get it to charge without plugging my charger in like 10 times, even then it keeps acting like its charging when its not.
I tried reflashing the original 4.0.4 backup, stock boot loader, you name it. I just don't understand what happened or how to fix it. Weirder still on the stock I can't make calls now. I'm so confused, anyone please help if you can.

Are you positive you flashed the correct rom version for your phone?
I suggest flashing the factory images for your device to return to stock, and see if the issues persist from a complete stock out-of-box experience.

I'm running AOKP with the CMPlus kernel. I want to encrypt my phone. Every time I try to start the encryption an android appears and the phone reboots. Then it doesn't even try to activate encryption. What can I do to get it encrypted?

I guess be glad it is failing. Don't encrypt if on custom rom, it will become difficult to flash ever again (without a full device wipe) and nandroids won't even work after.
good day.

I didn't know you couldn't use a custom kernel. I'll try it with straight AOKP
Edit: Even with the stock kernel from AOKP it fails. Phone just reboots. AOKP site also seems to be down right now.

Try going back to stock recovery and see if encryption works. Also, you could try twrp and see if it works there as well.

Try going back to stock 4.0.4 ics and encrypting there. If it works, there are some test recoveries that support encryption and you could possibly flash a custom rom on top of it.

Thanks for the warning but I'm aware of that. The latest TWRP can work with encrypted /sdcard though. Plus if I get stuck, I'm told "fastboot erase userdata" will format /sdcard and remove the encryption.
Hi,
I have GNex for about 2 months now so I decided to root it. I did it ok and everything worked fine. But than
I decided to install custom kernel so I did it. Well after that I cant boot my Nexus, its stuck at its first boot animation
with white Google in a middle and little lock in a bottom. Only thing I can do is go to bootloader and acces recovery mod.
I tried to do pretty much everything in a recovery menu but its still not booting.
What can I do to restore stock rom with stock kernel or I dont know what can helps here. Pleas I will be realy greatful I am

Reflash your ROM if you have any on your SD card. Also you can use a toolkit and flash the factory image.

I don't think it matters if you are flashing the stock image. You can also Odin in a worst case scenario thing.

I understand the hatred for toolkits because it causes complacency but its extremely easy to fix a device using it. Everyone should know how to use adb but I have used both and they both have worked perfectly for me.

im sorry, but if you think typing a few commands in to flash the stock images is hard, you really are lazy.
I never said it was hard. What is your major grief with toolkits? How is using a toolkit any different than flashing someone else's ROM? You can compile it yourself but its much more efficient to just flash and go. This will be my last response unless the OP has any more issues he needs help with. Good luck with fixing your phone no matter what method you would like to use.

because when the toolkit fails, it fails hard and then the user of said toolkit has no idea how to fix anything and posts threads on here saying "i bricked my phone and used such and such toolkit"
the people helping them have no idea where to even begin to try and troubleshoot the problem as you dont know the failure point. the toolkit just says "complete" or "done"
that is my major beef with toolkits.

Ok this is weird and maybe this phone just went bad but I was using the phone and I went open the xfinity app and the phone rebooted, now no matter what I wipe and reflash rom's etc it still boot loops. I can get to the start button when you enter your information but I can't get past the sign in just restarts and these are on roms that have worked for me in the past no issues. And it happens with any rom I try so far. I have a sprint galaxy nexus and I'm afraid nothing else can really be done. I have formatted everything only thing I have not done is flash to stock

Hey All,
Just got a friends Nexus and it was last used with 4.1.2 jellybean, I tried updating via OTA in settings but there is no update there and says my phone is up to date. I'd like at least 4.2.2 although 4.3 would do well
I've tried using methods of clearing data from the Google framework but that did not work.
Also I have only just installed everything i want on it as i had to factory reset.
Any help?
Thanks in advance

I think I may have screwed up pretty majorly,
I rooted and installed cwm as usual and tried flashing updates but that didn't work
Then I decided that I would install a custom ROM on it which I wasn't going to, so now I'm stuck as I wiped data and tried flashing both pa and slim but both failed, I assume this is because of an older version of cwm which was used because it was needed to flash the updates.
So now I am stuck without an os and when I boot it just goes through the Google logo twice then goes to cwm.
What is suggested for these situations aha? Thanks

Just use adb sideload. Saved my ass a couple of times too.
Thanks but I found a really good method on XDA because I believe it was soft bricked. I used Odin to flash stock 4.2.2 and that got rid of root and custom recovery. Once that was done I then updated to 4.3 in the settings via ota
Thank you for all you help
I have no idea about any of this adb sideload stuff so I'll learn about it before I screw up next time aha

If you want download mode, you could try a USB jig.
I thought about that, but didn't suggest because he will almost certainly still have boot problems until he can boot recovery and factory reset.
Worth a try if a jig is handy, but if you have to order or make one it'll probably just add more time to getting it fixed.

Edit: I flashed the StockROM back to my S3 and for any reason it is in Stock recovery mode. How do i get out of there w/o my power button? My computer don't recognize my phone so ADB won't work :3 (
Battery pull I guess is probably the only way. If you're running completely stock, you'll probably need to flash an insecure kernel for ADB to work in recovery.
This may be of use to you though....If you use the KT747 4.4.2 kernel, when you plug it in it will turn on the device if it's already off. You have to be on a stock based 4.4.2 rom to use it though.
I know it doesn't address your current issue, but thought I'd mention it in case something like that was useful for now.

You can't flash anything from stock recovery. You'd need to install TWRP. Are you rooted?

You really need to get odin working though. Uninstall kies. Try different USB drivers, different cables, ports....
