Data roaming : you have lost data connectivity notification - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Is there a way to disabled this notification? When I'm at work I don't have good signal and this always shows up.

Try this:
Check your roaming settings-
Mode: set to auto
Settings: all should be checked
Guard: NO checks.

Just tried this and still have the notification...
I have anycut and I am rooted if anyone can think of a way to stop this from popping up

Yeah I disabled the guard also and I still get the notification also. It's a minor annoyance for me. If it can be removed, good. If not, I'll live.

Ok so I have tried every possible combination of checking and unchecking the roaming settings to no avail, yeah I'll live, just frustrating that I am not able to stop it from popping up. Googling for an answer seems everyone that goes in and out of roaming has the issue. One forum called it a known bug in the software, if so maybe fixed in the next update

It's especially aggravating because I pay for unlimited nationwide roaming which apparently I'm not getting. Guess I'll call sprint tomorrow and see what's up. Gotta ask them about my airave anyway. Doesn't seem to play well with the s3.

interestingly enough, I haven't seen this notification in a while. Did it go away with LG8? I didn't change any settings here.

Yes its annoying. Have it too.

Yeah it's definitely not a check/uncheck thing... prolly a smali edit somewhere in framework... and yes it's still present in LG8

I can probably remove it, however, I don't roam enough to test that it is working. Someone will have to verify.

I don't mind.

What is the exact message it gives?

Here's a screen shot of the message. The exclamation point in the notification bar is due to the message. Thanks for your hard work.

Yes please and thank you.

this phone has a lot of annoying notifications. samsung needs to start putting a setting to disable some notifications.. low battery, lost connection, found wifi network, no signal, my dog took a poop, etc.. im constantly dismissing popups throughout the day.

I have solved this issue.
Will be posting a how to and flashable zip in the development forum.

Awesome thanks

[Q] Is there a FREE way to turn off radio only?

I want to be able to turn off the Radio only so that when I'm Wire-Tethered to my PC and playing a game I don't get any calls or texts to slow down my connection or be disturbed.
I found a thread in general where someone advised using tasker but it's $6 and I just want to be able to disable radio only. Airplane mode kills everything.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
There has to be a way...
There might be a way to do it via dial pad commands. I know that I was able to do this on a Droid in the past. I'm looking into, but make no promises.
edit:
Ok, this is what I've come up with.
*#INFO*1111# - Testing mode
Go into Phone Info...
Scroll down to Set preferred network type:
CDMA only
This should make it so the only cellular connection would be a data connection.
For my phone WCDMA Preferred is the default, which should be what you want to go back to to allow phone calls again.
Let me know if that works for you?
There's an app I used when I was on Eclair called Widgetsoid. It was the ability to toggle pretty much anything u can think of on your phone. I havent installed it since upgrading to Froyo so I can't verify that it can do what you need but its free and probably worth the download in any case. Check it out and let me know.

details of what this app can do are on the developer's website:
http://jaumard.android.free.fr/widgetsoid/
Doesn't list being able to disable text/voice while keeping data alive.
Thanks guys I'll check out both of those!

No it doesn't but I tried it anyway and found that no, it really doesn't. Thanks for trying though. I'm having a brainfart on typing letters into the dialer... how is that done again?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Just goto the phone dialer and type in those exact *,# and numbers (info is 4636)
once you put in the last # it will take you to the "testing" menu.
Let me know how it goes.
OK, I see it... will let you know how it works... Also, aren't our phones supposed to be set to CDMA? It had unknown and now it shows WCDMA. Isn't this the cause of the TWS bug?

It works great... Thanks!
Happy to help. I'm not sure exactly why it starts with WCDMA and then goes to unknown, haven't really looked into it too much.

It is the cause of the TWS bug. Our phones are constantly searching for a gsm signal never to be found. Causing battery drain. It has to do with the Galaxy S i9000 being gsm and samsungs poor ability to make changes to the coding.

This actually assisted in correcting or at least varifying another problem's solution. I've seen forum discussions point to PRL updates solving the TWS issue but other say it doesn't. However I installed sprintzone and let it install the PRL for my area. In doing so it set the default radio search shown using steve's info trick shown above. And no more TWS after reboots.
Woohoo!

Roaming warnings. Yes, I searched before I posted...

I saw this somewhere on XDA the other day about getting rid of the roaming warnings. I get them all the time, turn them off via settings, yet they still come back. If anyone can point me to a fix or possibly the forum that I saw to disable them completely, thanks will be awarded.. :good:
roam guard
yes I get that too. I live in NH so I roam when I'm driving thru the Mts. Are you on ICS or GB?
heres the link i found : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267931
Just thought about this too, have you updated your Profile and PRL?
Doesn't matter if I'm on ICS or GB. I still get the warnings all the time when I go into work. I did see that post before but I swear I saw another one on here too. And yes, updating PRL and profile didn't do a thing..

[Q] Force Roaming

My question is this:
Is there any way to force the phone to roam?
Yesterday, I was at a location where I had virtually no data/voice connectivity but instead of going to roaming the phone kept looking for a 3G signal. At some point though the phone began to go into ROAMING mode and I was able to make a few phone calls and send/receive some text messages.
Soooooo, like my first question: Is there anyway to force the phone to roam if you are in a low/non-existent signal area?
Ok, I did some research and came across this app: http://www.roamctrl.com/purchase/
Anyone have experience with this app? It seems that this is what I need. I would like to hear some user experiences before I drop $4 on it. The app isn't on the market.
Search these forums for Roam Control. I believe there are some issues with certain builds and ICS. Make sure to check the threads. Here is site too. http://www.roamctrl.com/ Be judicious with roaming I've been reading about more people getting axed lately

Yeah, thanks for the info man. That is exactly where my search has led me. I have no intention to abuse the roaming. There are a few Sprint dead zones that I come across on occasion where using this app will really really help me.
Been using Roam Control here sine my Samsung Moment. It's been nothing but awesome FWIW.
Yep it rocks! And yea it's a bit wonky on the ICS builds... seems worse on some than others but can't really nail it down. I find it seems to be most reliable when set to reboot upon changing the setting.

you could always flash the Verizon .00001 prl... keep a sprint one to flash back to though so you're not ALWAYS roaming... this has worked well for me when I've been in poor service areas for a few hours..

Data Profile not updating??

okay i had perfect 3g connection before i had youtube streaming fast and webpages loading really fast. Now my 3g is no bueno i have connection time outs and slow downloads speeds and buffering is all i get when trying to watch youtube over 3g. So what ive done so far
First i went straight back to stock and factory resetted everything on Gingerbread and did my OTA official updates than did update prl and profile in settings status update but my data connection over 3g is still slow so i did the next thing
##72786# SCRN reset
##3282# (checked all my settings) Device ip says 0.0.0.0 dont know if thats right the other info dont know if thats right either only able to VIEW and EDIT seperate fields one at a time
##MSL#(even put in a new MIEID number from sprint)
then onstart up hands free activation is running sucessfully it updates prl and check for firmware.I then open up sprint zone to chck voice and data both are green however there is a message of an very important profile update available please click here to have full coverage of your data so i click it and i get error cant update profile please try again later. So i keep trying and eventually it updates and says settings have been applied updating content. when i reopen the sprint zone voice and data turn green but the darn profile update for full data services is still there. So i power off pull battery and continue getting same results. The data profile isnt sticking even when it says its been updated. My 3g internet is still slow. Ive also done factory resets from the recovery menu.Sprint even re-pushed my connection off on then pulled battery to see if signal issues were an issue.
so then i do ##rtn# but still the same results. I have tried different modems as well to see if that was the case but no cigar.
Im currently on FH13 ICS 4.0.4 Official stock sprint. the sprint tec support suggest me to go into a store for further troubleshooting cause thats all they can do however i think theres more i can do here just need a little help. I know theres a bunch of more menues i can enter the codes are from this website below. I hope someone can help me with specific correct configurations in the data profile section because this phone doesnt give you the option to reset to default in your data menu just edit and view. Thank you in advanced

Thier wasnt any outage on my network or construction over here either
Don't pay attention to it's a bug in Sprint Zone it always will say there's an update. Update PRL and Profile in Settings and you're good. About speed maybe a network problem in your area it happens to me yesterday PRL Update failing and eventually updated after a few hours also speeds went back I called Sprint and indeed it was a tower problem in my area.
They will tell you there's not outage if no one is reporting. It happens a lot here in PR and when I pass by the tower in Hatillo there are workers on the tower. Lol they know nothing about their own towers.

Leave it to team themers, ugh I mean team devs, to take care of that...
Being that it's Sprint, more than likely it's just their horrible service. If you call them they will probably just give you an excuse like a tower down or something. I have constant issues with their data speeds and signal and this what they always tell me.. .

im using a signal boost app thats from market. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.freshnetwork
and its fixed my youtube streaming over 3g don't know why it takes an app to do whatever its doing for a signal im already supposed to have.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
but what also is funny is that im using a app called landroid which lets you poke around your network and see information by entering your IP so i did and i got this off a ping......
10 packets transmitted, 0 received, +1 errors, 100% packet loss, time 9007ms
this cant be right though because im using 3g right now to write this post shouldn't i be unable to reach through with these results?
i ran a busybox ifconfig and got the results i should have no packets lossed maybe i entered the ip wrong or its one of those loop traces idk it said ip so thats what i used in landroid regardless still got good 3g any tec want to fill the slots for me please thanks.

[Q] - Minor issue: Disable Wifi Calling Notifications

I live in an area where I don't get great service in the house, so I rely on wifi calling to use my phone. As a result, I get several notifications which get in my way, and I was wondering if there's any way to disable them.
An ongoing notification that "calls will be made over wifi", and a notification whenever I make a call, in addition to that one.
The much more annoying one: my desk (where I often use my phone) is just barely in range of my router, although I still get 2-3 wifi bars of signal. It's a stable connection, but every 5 seconds or so the phone sends a notification (emits a tone and displays a popup) that I'm near the edge of my wifi range and the call may drop (although it never does).
On my old phone, an HTC Desire (also android), there was a setting to disable this notification (and even when on, it only came once per call). But I cannot find that setting in the S4. Hate to ask what may be a simple question, but after quite a bit of searching I can't find anything on this topic.

Sorry that I don't have your answer, but wanted to add I have this same question, and i'm on the galaxy s3, but maybe someone else will answer. I suspect this is a T-mobile "feature", because I have terrible cell service even though their coverage map says it should be great. And when talking to tech support a few weeks ago they were quick to add "have you heard about wifi calling?" . I had, but wasn't sure I had settings correct. They walked me through it, and yeah, every since then I have had that persistent message in notifications. I thought there would be an option to unchecked "show notifications" but I also did not find any.
I suspect, just a guess, this may be due to a legal liability issue if for example it was an emergency and you try calling 911 and it fails due to bad cell service, they would want to be able to say "were you calling over our network or over wifi?" WiFi it seems would let them off the hook if the call did not go through that way. They'd be able to blame it on "your internet service provider" and not t-mobile. That's the only thing that makes sense to me. ... you might call their tech support, be sure you get to "level 2" help by specifying you're calling about "my galaxy s4 device", then ask them: why does this notification stay on? It takes up space on my notifications screen"
