I have 3 Gmail accounts (well 1 Gmail and 2 Sky mail accounts) on my phone which I access through the Gmail app. They have been working fine but after flashing Paranoid Android and Trinity and reinstalling, one of the accounts (a Sky one) causes Gmail to FC. Everything else works normally so I'm thinking it's not a bad flash of the ROM/kernel.
The other 2 work fine, but on the affected account the inbox and folders show but as soon as I click on an email to read it I get the "Gmail has stopped working" message and the app FC.
I've deleted the account and replaced it and it hasn't helped, the problem persists.
Any thoughts or solutions?
Thanks

Suggestion: Clear app data. Uninstall Gmail, reboot, install it from the market.
Tried that and no joy. Thanks for the suggestion though. Any other ideas?

Recently, whenever I try to search in the gmail app, it gets stuck on loading conversations and never finishes. After a few days of this I went to trash, all mail, and starred, and the same thing happens. The mail never loads, and its stuck on loading conversations. My inbox is loading fine, and gmail in the browser works fine. I tried clearing data and cache, and rebooting. Anyone else?
Edit:Turned out, it was the LauncherPro gmail widget causing the problem. Deleted widget from homescreen, and issue disappeared.
Try to download an app for mail and put your gmail account on that (like k9 mail, it's amazing) if it doesnt work on that I would try a hard reset. If it does then it is something within the stock gmail app I would think.
Or better yet, just uninstall GMAIL and re-install it from the market....
Tried both suggestions. K9 worked fine with search and checking different labels. So I then used root explorer to remove the default Gmail app and reinstalled from the market, which DID fix the problem. Thanks!!!!!
EDIT: SEE POST BELOW. DIDN'T FIX!
Well, I guess I spoke too soon. Its doing it again. It did work the first few times when I checked starred email and all mail. Even searching mail worked a couple tries. But then I tried a few minutes later and it didn't work anymore. Now when I check all mail and starred mail, same thing, just says loading conversations. I tried reinstalling amd clearing data and cache and still doesn't help. Weird.
EDIT:SOLVED See OP
I just got my scmexy new Galaxy S III from Bell. Everything works great except email sync. For whatever reason it simply refuses to even fetch the email and as a result there is no notification upon the arrival of a new message. The only time it will show the email is if I open Gmail and manually refresh.
Is anyone else having this issue?
I also from time to time get "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped." I don't know if this is a related issue but I can only assume. I normally get that message when I open the browser, but I can force the error by enabling and disabling sync.
I am on a Rooted Stock Rom with no further modifications. Keep in mind this was happening before root.

I've only had my S3 for a couple days now and have this same problem. Mobile Data and Packet Data are both on... My APN is the same a what it was with my old S2 which worked fine. Not sure?

Its seems to be something with the sync interval, but I am at a loss on how to chnage it.

It is indeed checked. I must note that all my other services sync fine. Calender, picasa web all that good stuff. It is just Gmail. I seem to be receiving the notifications now but they are severely delayed now.
I'm thinking the problem lies with the Sync Frequency. I know on my i9000 I could set the frequency manually (i.e. 1minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, Sync Off) but I don't seem to be able to locate that menu now.
Turn off Internet sync to get rid of gapps fc issue. Internet sync, syncs bookmarks to stock browser.

I can't figure it out, Gapps is royally farked. I can't send emails in it either and now it is refusing to connect to any Google Services. I have tried on LTE, HSPA, WiFi and (just for kicks) GSM
Here's what I did because Sync uses battery life.
- removed Gmail app.
- opened the stock email app
- entered my gmail credentials in and select manual setup
- leave everything the same but in the server, enter m.google.com
and voila, you'll have push email instead of syncing at different intervals.
Intesting. I completely forgot about Push Email, which would explain the Sync Interval thing. Gmail's app uses push. Since GAPPS isn't connecting properly, I guess I know what my issue is.
Sigh, I hate resets

How does CM9 Work for you?
Any issues?
Nope! none at all! I'm using it with This Kernel and it's awesome!
my wife is using CM9 on her Note and it's super stable..

How is the Battery Life compared to stock?
I couldn't tell you, I bought the phone new, powered it on once for about 10 seconds and rooted / cm9 lol
you can undervolt the CPU to save battery life, there is also a governor that you can set it to so that it reduces batt consumption.
I'd try it, you have nothing to lose.
I've had this gmail issue from time to time. I usually can fix it but going to settings - applications - all - gmail - clear data and clear cache. Give it a shot

I have tried syncing my contacts today because I noticed the newest one hasn't shown up on my google account yet, but for some darn reason the phone freezes for a bit and shows "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped."
In sync settings I only have Sync Contacts checked, nothing else. If I sync other things I don't have any issues.
When in sync settings and I check and uncheck the box it will sync in 2 seconds, when I sync it again it will do so for 30 seconds, the error will pop up and close itself then stop syncing. In accounts and sync it will freeze for a while and show the popup which I have to close myself.
My phone is rooted running 4.0.3. I also have ~5000 contacts (that includes g+,facebook, numbers, emails)
What can I do to fix this? It's getting on my nerves.
Clear the data for your google contact within settings. See if it helps.

I've cleared data for Google Service Framework, Google Contacts Sync and cleared dalvik cache.
Which one is the Google contacts app? Contacts Storage? Won't clearing it erase all my contacts??
Back up the data first. I had a similar problem before when my contact storage reached over 1 GB, which is bogus, caused by program bug. Clear the storage solved my problem.
Contacts can be back by you're google account, if you have one

That seems to have worked. Thanks!
Hi all,
Has anyone noticed the stock email app puts deleted mails into the "important" folder instead of the bin in the Gmail account? Don't know if it's just me, my account or my phone.

Tried changing settings inside Google account online, hunted through Google search for a reason, cleared cache and data but no joy. It doesn't put all deleted mail in important, just odd one or two but after a while I ended up with a right abundance of crap in there.

The Gmail app and the stock email app both behave the same, so it can't be the actual client, it must be the way Google handles some particular email. My yahoo account works fine in both client apps
My hotmail and corporate accounts are not getting emails delivered to my 5X after a certain time today. Internet works on the phone, apps can get internet and I can go to websites in Chrome.
Tried rebooting and switched airplane mode on and off a few times.
Anyone else having these issues?
Edit: I went into accounts and hit sync all and it started working for some of the accounts. I should not have to manually sync the accounts, they have all all been getting push emails as they come in up until today.

Have you tried "outlook app" from google play store? Maybe it will help. I have this app installed, but for my Hotmail account, I didn't need "push" notification, so I set it to manual.
Hi,
I had problems with the GMAIL App not syncing my Hotmail account & also uploads to GDrive were not working about a week ago. I uninstalled recent updates and rebooted phone. All has worked fine since then. I have also allowed both apps to update and all is good.
If you're still having problems, give it a try
I've had issues with this. So have many others. Check out this issue here
