Hi, welcome to the forums.
I flashed the same kernel and ROM today on the same phone, so hopefully I can help
so you successfully flashed the xarc kernel yes?
and successfully installed the ROM?
can you confirm, is your current baseband 72?
and did you also install the secondary file for I-Scream 12xs after you flashed the rom?

You need to flash /sdcard/ -=I-Scream_12xs=- update to get everything works
If you have lt15i, and already flash 4.0.4 .431 version from flashtool. You should flash 4.0.3 .562 version. Because 431 create a large Vendor Partition, you'll lack system partition to install this rom.
why didn't you discuss this in the rom thread?
instead of making new threads?

I updated my Arc S with the official ICS update from sony however the lag and other issues were driving me mad so i decided to root my phone.
The next obvious step seemed to be installing a custom ROM so i installed clockwork mod and made a back up, everything great so far.
I made a back-up and wiped my phone, went to install the free xperia CM9 ROM and thats when everything went pear shaped.
The ROM didn't install, i wiped my phone again but got the same distressing fail.
Thinking there was possibly a fault with the zip i re-downloaded the ROM and found an alternative (one of the arcronium ones i think) and put those on my SD, all seemed to be well and good, i had a backup and Clockwork Mod what could possibly go wrong?
Well when i tried to boot my phone in recovery all i get is a boot loop! :crying:
The only thing i could do was to use flashtools and flash a ROM to my beloved Arc S
I tried this exact process a few times but suffered the same fate, please can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? or could i apply a custom ROM using flashtools?

FXP ROM function best on FXP Kernels... Try flashing one of their Kernels and reinstalling the ROM.
Bootloader open?
And for CM u need a fxp kernel, but u cant use it with arconium, there u need trinity or arc-knight kernel
Make sure to do a "Wipe data / factory reset" and "Wipe cache partition" when going from stock or from another custom ROM
I have no idea if my bootloader is open or not, how do i tell?
I found this link to the FXP CM 9.0 but i have no idea what anything is.

No, it's a ROM. You need to read things carefully before just going and flashing this or flashing that. Flash a stock ROM with the Flashtool and start over.

Dude, First thing you gotta do is unlock your boot loader. Google around you will find it. To unlock the boot loader as well as to flash a custom kernel you need something called fastboot. There is a video in youtube on how to use fastboot and flash custom kernel and that user has provided the download link as well go and search. After unlocking boot loader install CWM (either with auto installer or by flashing a custom kernel with CWM) After doing that flash the FXP127 zip booting in to CWM. The FXP127 zip contains the FXP kernel as well so don't worry when you flash that the kernel gets changed as well. Still can't figure it out. I suggest you keep away from flashing roms Just kidding.
I'm on a stock ROM at the moment that i flashed so i'll just follow some instructions and unlock my bootloader first.
Where can i the latest FXP kernel?
Again Cheers guys

You can find CM9 kernel in zip that you just downloaded. Open it an Extract "boot.img" file. That is the kernel. Flash that first, go to recovery, wipe all data, wipe dalviks chcae, format /system and then chose "install .zip from SD card" and select FXPCM9.zip (or whatever it is named) and it will install you CM9. Don't forget on Gapps.
excellent i unlocked my bootloader and i've got the kernel and rom i want, just one last thing, whats the baseband and when do i flash it (if i have to flash it at all)?
Unfortunately i forgot i uninstalled the stock sony launcher and when unlocking the bootloader it wiped launcher pro so my phones pretty useless as it stands so the quicker i can get a new rom on the better!
Many thanks again, I'm slowly getting there
All done
Cheers for the help everyone!
baseband controls radio communications like communications with cell towers

It's simple, flash the kernel, install the ROM, done.
The kernel is in the .zip file(boot.img). You have to extract it. Place the zip file on your arc. Flash the kernel with fastboot or flashtool. Then enter cwm. Wipe Cache, wipe dalvik cache and factory reset. Then install the rom.

Simple like that
just follow the instructions provided exactly 100% and you should be fine.
however,
last time i tried to install fxp cm9.0 by flashing the kernel 1st i almost killed my phone and it scared the **** outta me. i cant even enter recovery or fastboot and i had to reflash a stock ftf in flashmode to try it again. i think that flashing the zip file together with a full wipe then only the kernel works better..any ideas?
I have a arc with locked bl and I have rooted it and installed cwm.
But when I try to install custom roms like Ultimate HD 2, Jelly sandwitch 7.4 or Xperia pureness 13 everything goes right except installing.
The installation of rom takes only 2 to 3 seconds and it finishes successfully but when I reboot my phone, it stucks at sony logo.
Normally installation of a rom takes minimum 30 seconds but in my phone it takes only 2 to 3 seconds.
What should i do?

Ensure that the custom rom you are installing is based on your current firmware..i.e. If you are in .42 or .58 GB install custom rom for GB, if you are in .431 ICS install custom rom based in .431. Ultimate HD, Jellysandwich 7.4 are based on .587 ICS. I have installed these on my arc s w/ locked bootloader with no problem..just be sure to do the ff via cwm:
Wipe cache partition
Wipe data/factory reset
In advance wipe dalvik cache
In mount and storage wipe cache, wipe data and wipe system
Install rom via install zip from sd card
Also make sure that you downloaded the rom completely, verify if the mb you downloaded is the same as the mb indicated in the link.
I recommend you try the ultimate hd v2 by jader since cwm is integrated in it.

Depends on if you have your bootloader locked or not. If it's locked, get either Jelly sandwhich or ultimate HD (They're both pretty much exactly the same)

After you flash the Rom reboot the phone and just let it fully boot. After that you can go back to CWM and flash the WiFi modules and other add-ons
You need to boot into the kernel's recovery and set it to jb mode or ics depending on your rom. Then make sure your rom and gapps don't exceed the system partition size, which it most likely did if you flashed the full gapps package as well.
The default recovery for the lupus jb kernel is TWRP, if you load into another CWM recovery it most likely did not flash to the correct partition arrangement that lupus kernel use therefore the rom can't boot.

These are the steps I did
1.- Flash the 4.0.2.A.0.58 Enhanced (2.3.4 firmware)
2.- Flash the LuPuSv8 JB Kernel via flashtools
3.- Take out the SDcard (I can't access to kernel menu without taking it out)
4.- Access Kernel menu then go into recovery mode
5.- Wipe data/cache/davlik
6.- Flash p.a.c.man jb
7.- Reboot
And then it bootloops and stays like that (i left it alone and it stayed like that for about 20 or 30 minutes)
I also wiped data/cache and davlik after flashing the rom, but got the same results, maybe I need a vendor unlocked firmware like in Turbo Kernel? I will try that...
Edit: Flashed the vendor unlocked firmware then wiped cache and data then installed the PACman rom but got bootloop again, maybe I should try with another kernel...

Learn to READ the post before replying about it. I said i am a newbie, i don't know how these things work because my friend used to do root-roms things for me. I have already seen the installation notes but i am not aware of flashing roms or gaps or how to get started.
It would be great if someone provide the step by step guide for installing this ROM and that's all what i am asking, sire.

That would suggest you've read things like the stickys, and given that there is more than one page in each section that you may just have come across some of the various guides that are floating about that describe how to flash ROMs via CWM (which are in the stickys to begin with), so when you then say...

So what on Earth have you been doing here for the last few days.
All i recommend is just reading up on it all first.
Otherwise if things go wrong you will have to ask more questions...and have no phone till you fix it.
Only start messing about with you phone when you at least know a bit about what youre doing.
Or you will just keep on getting sarcastic and pretty rude answers.
XperienceD...you clearly arent going to stop this problem with people posting without searching, so PLEASE give the f*** up with your pointless answers
Install adb drivers, java sdk platform and flashtool 0.6.8.0
1. Unlock boot loader with adb
2. Download fusion 5 and fusion add-ons, Rom and gapps
3. Copy fusion add-ons and Rom / gapps to sd card
4. Use flashtool -fastboot to install kernal
5. Reboot phone and press back button when phone vibrates on fusion logo this will take you into cwm
6. Follow from step 5 on how to install
From flashing kernel to Rom booted will take 10mins
If you get stuck use search or google, just remember you are not the first person to ask and there are LOADS of tutorials on how to do everything on here
One other thing super jelly bean are only one out off I think 4 or 5 roms which are based on jelly bean CM10 The most of the rest are ICS which use different kernels
Don't be afraid, sjb is a worth-messing-up rom. If you got bootloop you've got your friend afterall.

What you may find pointless, I don't, and if this new member grasps the point of my post (hopefully a few older members will too), then it isn't actually pointless.

I am currently doing this. Flashed the .img with flashtool and fully-wiped. The problem is I can't install the Super Jelly Bean rom that i copied into my external sdcard. It says Can't mount Sdcard. Any helps from the seniors please? In addition I've actually searched numerous but none of them seems to work with this particular version of CWM which included in the SJB package from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2134257. Best regards for helps!
