Archos 80 G9: insufficient storage memory - Gen9, Gen10 General

Because I'm a new member, I can't post in the right topic, so I'll try here.
I have install thye Custom Rom [email protected] V03, and he works fine, but I have a memory storage problem now. After I install facebook, tapatalk and Kaiten email, then i've got the insufficient storage memory screen and I can't install any other program. App2sd doesn't work on Archos 80 G9, so I have a problem. I did a clearing in Dalvik cache, but the problem exist. With the original 4.0.7 ROM much more I could install, but then I miss the root functions. Can someone help me, I know no more solutions. Thank you.

This usually happens when have about 500mb of memory left on the internal storage for some reason you can't install
Apps or games after that you have to clear up some space in order to be able to install or update, move all of your vedios and music and files to SD card and use the enternal memory for apps and games.

Yes I know, but there is no music, movies or games on board, just a new installed custom rom. I can install 6 to 7 light weight apps and the memory is full. I also tried other custom ROMs, and the problem persists. If I install the original ROM, I have no such problem. On the other android tablets can I put my apps on an external flahdrive, but Archos can not. I would like to work with the [email protected] V03, it is faster than the original ROM and he's rooted. There must exist a solution to that problem, but I don't find it on the internet.

Try finding the apks of the apps you want to install (IF they are freeware), and manually dropping them to /data/app/.

same problem
I have found when I uninstall programs no memory is released.
After examining with a root file manager, I can not find remnants of the removed programs . Where is the freed memory? Dalvik cache emptying does not resolve.

Hi !
This problem is just on HDD device, on flash device never see that !
You can get 384MB of space for your install app by deleting archos.ext4.backup ! You can do this in two ways :
1° in Root Explorer or Browse Explorer , navigate to /mnt/storage and delete archos.ext4.backup
2° connect USB cable and : > adb shell rm /mnt/storage/archos.ext4.backup
good luck ! :good:

I see 105.2 MB free and I've the messagescreen 'not enough memory'. I think I have a hardware problem is, but my Archos does well with the original ROM.

I've tryed to install a different rooted OS from Cherry and my Archos works perfect, but I have no gps or 3G. I did it just for testing. With the Cherry OS can I move my apps to SD. Why is it not possible with the original or rooted OS for the Archos 80G9?
What is the best utility to see the free memory. I've tested it with System Panel Lite, but I've think that not works well, because I see no changes when I delete all the apps, He tells me always that I have 105.1 memory free...

hi all
might not be relevant but i found on the 250gb g9 if i install gps software then uninstall or it crashes i cant install any more program no memory error

Problem solved
I have no more memoryproblems anymore. What I do?
With Root uninstaller, I removed unnecessary background programs
With SD Maid, I have the cache be cleaned of all programs
Verified with Elixir I see that I'm back again lots of storage memory
I'm happy :victory:

Not enough memory or insufficient storage archos 80 G9
I have the archos 80 g9 with 250gb. I have 198 gb free. However when installing various apps from play store I get the error message Not enough memory or insufficient storage" or something like that. I have no problems downloading torrents or any other files. Am I missing something? I wonder if there is perhaps a setting that I am unaware of that limits the amount of data to be stored for applications. Any help greatly appreciated.

My understanding of the HD models is that all your apps get installed onto the onboard flash memory and NOT the hard drive. The flash is limited on these models. I think it is only around 2GB?

finally thinking about rooting.help please

hi everyone
finally thinking about rooting i have a htc desire 2.2 but internal memory is becoming a problem
but i need to know the benefits?
will i able to remove some stock apps?so that internal memory is freeed up?
will apps2d able to move all apps to sd card?
what else will i able to do?
can i install a stock froyo rom without sense for my desire?im sure that would free up some space?
Yes, yes, yes and yes If you want all of the above, you can get it by rooting.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
thanks alot
how much memory free do you have on your desire?
does apps2sd move the entire application to sdcard or just the data?
This should not be in the Development forum, should've gone in Q&A
I have 100 mbs left after installing about 20 apps and a couple of games. Apps2sd will still use a bit of internal memory, but most of it goes to the sd.
EDIT: This is with ~30mb taken up from adobe flash and air on internal.

one thing im wondering
how come you guys are getting 140mb +- free with apps installed?
where did the space come from?
If you root your stock ROM then yes you can then use adb to remove system apps. The issue is they're not part of the internal storage but on a seperate system partition. This means removing them won't add space to downloaded apps
If you want to install hundreds of pointless, needless apps** then you're going to need a custom ROM which uses A2SD+ - LeeDroid is one example but I personally prefer either an MCR ROM from MoDaCo or the Desire HD port (RCMixHD). Both also extremely good ROMs
** This is my personal opinion, I don't use my Desire as a replacement for every other device I own so have no need to use excessive ammounts of apps

Tks
I don't have alot of apps
Maybe 20
Problem is copilot, flash, air, google maps etc
They take up alot of space, I'm not trying all apps
S-OFF then remove using root explorer
I have 69MB free with the following updates/apps installed:
1. Facebook (Update)
2. Twitter
3. Angry Birds (on SD Card)
4. Adobe Flash (Update)
5. Google Maps (Update)
6. Gmail (Update)

9. Street View (Update)
10. App Manager
11. Dolphin HD Browser (on SD Card)
12. YouTube (Update)
13. EStrongs File Explorer (on SD Card)
So, for me, I don't NEED to root. I still do to try a new ROM if it's something that appeals but I love Sense - stock Android is so fugly
Hi,
If you're using Android (Froyo) you can I believe move, some, of the apps an data to the SD card using your existing ROM.
Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications.
Look at the downloaded apps and highlight one, it may or may not give you the option to move to SD card. The ability to move to SD is dependent on the Application developer in question. Hence, this doesn't work for all applications and data.
There are also some Market Apps that can scan the list for you, I tried "App 2 SD" by Sam Lu which seemed to work for me.
Regards.

Because you don't have a lot of space in the first place. If you want more then you have no option other than to go with a custom ROM which uses A2SD+

Storage issues with Link2SD

I've rooted my phone about a week ago and have been fiddling around with all the different things i can do with the phone, but my main reason for doing it was to help with the crap internal storage it has. So i got Link2SD setup and partitioned my SD card with a second ex2 partition, and for a while it will work well, i will have around 70-80mb listed as free on my internal but that won't really change much even when adding and linking new files with l2sd, but lately i've been running into a problem where it will drop down to 10-20 mb and just stay there. I've already tried formatting and doing a clean install which will fix it for a day or so, but it keeps dropping low and staying there even when i delete things to clean up space. I've clean installed 4 times already with the same effect, and now it's getting annoying since i started fresh yesterday and had the issue come up almost instantly, wiped again and now i'm already back at the same spot.. is there some folder that is filling up that i'm unaware of? I'm just very confused about this issue now hah, any help would be greatly appreciated
Link2sd doesn't prevent your phone from thinking that internal storage is full, I think.
I'd recommend trying s2e instead.
-----------
"You can overclock as much as you want, your phone will always seem too slow."
hmm, s2e won't run on stock rom will it? i think i've read that it will only run on cm7/9
Hmm. When I was new to link 2 sd I had same problem. Don't worry I got a fix. ^_^
1.Uninstall stupid system apps you don't use. We need to make space in system partition.
2. Download titanium backup and when u open it. Go to options select integrate davlic cache into rom. It'll take few minutes, when it's complete reboot.
3. Make sure all files are linked.
4. Clear cache occasionally.
5. If you still are low on space you may use this command as the last option.
Warning: you may have to reboot phone after installing a new app to run it for first time.
Go to terminal
Type 'su'
Accept superuser request.
Type 'a2sd cachesd'
Phone will reboot and may take some time to start.
6. That should be it. I'm running cm9 with link 2 sd and I have more than 100 apps still I got 75 mb free.
Sent from my Wildfire S A510e using xda app-developers app
When you flash a new rom, make sure first thing you do is installation of Link2SD.
Tick auto link on it, and then install whatever you want.
It's how I solved that problem.
Now I have 107 apps installed with Link2SD, and around ~40mb of free internal space.

Try deleting files in /data/tombstones (if there is any), using a file explorer.
Many apps will save their data in your internal memory, even if they're linked to your SD. There are some programs (like S2E) that can move all your data to your SD but you may loose performance if you don't have a fast SD. One alternative is using Titanium Backup to move to SD data of individual apps, this way you can keep in your internal memory the data you want to access quickly (ie your contacts) and you move to SD all the other data. The process is reversible and if you think it slows down too much a specifc app you can move back its data to internal memory.
To do dat you have to go to "Copy/Restore" in Titanium Backup, long-press one app and scroll down until you find the option "Move app data to SD".
This way I've been able to save about 60 MB of additional internal memory and I haven't noticed any change in performance.
An additional advantage is that this Titanium Backup feature is available in the free version; the Dalvik cache integration proposed in a previous post is locked if you don't have PRO version.

Hi,
Can anyone confirm if this is still true. I've just installed Titanium Backup Free v5.5.2 and in the "Backup/Restore" screen I follow the instructions above and see a 'Move to SD card' option, but no 'Move app data to SD' option. Choosing the 'Move to SD card' option does not move the app data. Is it still available in the free app?
I'm very happy with link2sd with my stock rom HTC Wildfire S except that it doesn't offer me the ability to selectively link /data/data application files. Perhaps there's another linking app that does a more complete job? I've seen this thread mention simple2ext but that seems to require Cyanogenmod.
Cheers,
Mark

I can provide an answer to my own question here. It turns out that the 'Move app data to sd card' option only appears if Titanium Backup sees a valid mount point, as per this documentation: http://www.titaniumtrack.com/kb/titanium-backup-kb/titanium-backup-technical-faq.html#requirements-for-using-move-app-data-to-sd
If you have a phone like mine (Wildfire S, stock rom v2.3.5) then you don't have one of the TB supported mount points so you have to create it yourself using Terminal Emulator and Busybox
e.g.
Code:
$ su
# ln -s /data/sdext2 /data/sd
# mkdir /data/sdext2/app
Also I've now discovered that for the functionality to work properly the second partition must be a unix filesystem type like ext2, ext3 or ext4, but not vfat (FAT32) since that doesn't allow TB to create symbolic links.
There's more discussion of this and gory details on this thread
Cheers,
Mark

Brother u are a life saver, I just followed your syntax and it worked like charm. I am now having 98 mb of internal memory from 38mb.
But have Couple of question for u....
1. Can u tell me if I have to run this command again and again after installing new apps or will it work on its own if once executed?
2. I have link2sd installed before this command and have linked all the files to 2nd partion of my sd card.
Is it safe to uninstall link2sd app now?

1. You only need this command again when the memory runs way too low. Don't try it again coz it reduces performance too.
2. I guess you can/ I've never tried it tough.
I ran into problem with your command...it force closes some of my apps which I noticed later ....
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using xda premium
I had the same problem a while ago that i had to reflash the rom because apps were force closing all the time
The reason this happened was because i downloaded several apps at the same time, so Link2SD didnt had enough time to link all files
and the internal memory became full and went crazy
the only solution for me was deleting all apps and reinstalling them
so my recommendation would be not to download more than 1 app at the same time, wait for Link2SD to link files, and then download the next one
Actually I did that I did a factory reset and then ran the command..bt after that my internal apps was also force closing like playstore, etc

i have the same problem and the solution (2 steps) is a bit stupid but here it is:
1 - go into (manage applications) in settings and wait till it calculate the storage of every app (under every app's name), where you will find that the memore increased usually from 12 mb to abou 20 mb.
2 - you have to go into link2sd app and do one of these 3 things:
1. link library files
2. link dalvic cache files
3. clear cache (not clear dalvic cache)
one of these options or more will do the track. now check storage and you will find more 30 or 40 mb
if anyone know a good application that links data too, i'l be very thankful
I am using link2sd with ext3 partition created through cwm recovery after re booting some apps disappear and i have to install them again
Any fix?

The applications you deleted resided in the System partition of your internal memory but the new ones you want to install require space on the Data partition. So unless you can use an application like SystemCleanup to move some old apps to the System partition you still won't be able to free up space in the Data partition.
I've had apps fail to install when I've had as much as 60MB free. It really does suck - Sony just didn't give us enough space for apps. Either move some apps to your SD card or install Link2SD and kiss this problem goodbye forever. There is a great guide here:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/12/12/link2sd-guide-never-worry-about-internal-memory-limits-again/
It's well worth doing and doesn't take very long at all.

your apps were on usb storage and you can still uninstall them
No I can not, its probably my bad English You misunderstand me.
So once again
1. I install rom, for example minimal by Judas
2. I switch usb to external sd, reboot phone etc..
3. I install same apps on sdcard and busy-box,
4. And now when i reboot phone apps installed on sdcard are greyed, and system says that they are not installed
5. I remove busybox reboot phone, and voilà my apps are back.
My question is why this is happening ?
No. But you swapped vold.fstab?

Yes I swapped fstab, and after that I had installed apps... just like I write in second post
You
1. Installed apps
2. Transfer to usb storage
3. Swapped vold.fstab
Is that what you mean? Because thats the only reason why my apps will be grayed.

No I mean exactly what I write earlier,
1 Install rom,
2 Swaped vold fstab
3 install some random apps (like endomodo dead tiger etc,).
3a. And at this moment everything work fine.
4 Install busybox - and now if I reboot phone apps install on sdcard are greyed.
4a. For 1 at 10-20 reboots apps will show correctly .
5 Uninstall busybox, reboot phone - my apps are back,
And this problem occurs only witch TouchWiz.
I know this is bit strange problem so I appreciate Teddytsen Your willingness to help me

[Q] Help a noob choose a ROM

Hello, I have a GT-S5660 and last week I loaded this ROM -
Jellybean 4.2.2 (CyanogenMod 10.1) 20130908 from maclaw.
But I am running out of space on the internal storage, I have tried the App2SD app but there are some apps that cannot be moved and after loading up 3-4 apps I am running out of space already.
Can someone point me to a ROM that allows me to install ALL my apps to the SD card? I dont mind going backwards in Android versions - I just want to run apps off the sd card. I mainly use the phone as a phone but am a heavy user of whatsapp - footmob - dropbox - music and ebooks.
I have a 2gig SDCard installed in the phone and I made a partion on it using CWM. I hope everything is setup to be able to a new ROM and allow apps install to the SD.
I dont need - FM radio - email (I use gmail) - exchange - only English language - voice search - voice dialler or talk.
Can anyone help me make a good choice for a new ROM ?
Thanks a lot in advance!
You should install JellyBread.
It's the best rom for Gio, it's fast and stable.
And it already has a script in it to move apps to sd-ext.
So create a ext-2, ext-3 or ext-4 partition on your sd-card.
Then go to terminal emulator (pre-installed) and type
su
Then it will ask for root, accept, then
int2ext
reboot
Then check in Settings>Apps>Mangage applications and if you see your storage is huuuuge then it worked.

Thanks very much for your help
I use CM10.1 by Mardon for 3-4 months and is very stable and good looking too.I had the storage free space problem too but I used Link2SD to uninstall and move apps to SD and now I have 100mb free.I also replace original LatinIME (11mb) with another that has only 3mb

Had to load the ROm twice for some reason, it got stuck on the loading screen for about 20 mins so I did a factory reset and wipe again then it worked fine.
Just perfect!! exactly what I was looking for!
Having great fun loading up LOTS of apps now
Thanks a lot for helping
