Wifi calling - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Does anyone have the problems below with Wifi Calling? If so what are your solutions or suggestions?
1) Pretty bad echo, with voice cutting in and out, seems to be an issue for me but not the person I am talking to.
2) The phone connects and just hangs up immediately when on wifi calling, I have to turn off and use the network.
I am on FreeGS3 R5 and Trinity A37 kernel.
It is really frustrating that wifi calling has issues, I rely on it heavily at work and home as T-Mobile has pretty crappy reception.

WiFi calling sucked for me with this phone. Never tested it with stock, just with redrum sonic rom and trinity kernel.

I'm stock rooted. When I pick up calls sometimes they can't hear me. It also drops calls.

Hmmm, for me wifi calling works really well. I use it everyday at home and at work, and while I wouldn't say it's as reliable as a cellular connection it's pretty close.

That was my issue I had full WiFi bars was within 15ft of my router but it always cut in and out, my g2x was way better then this but I don't need WiFi calling that much. Just at work.

I know Samsung rushed some of these phones, I guess all S 3's are not created equal.
Looks like a lot of people have issues with wifi calling, those who don't seem to be a lucky minority.

It's flawless for me. On stock Rom and kernel. Might be an issue specific to a Rom or kernel. Maybe try and figure what it works with and what it doesn't and then we can try to track down the issue.

To be honest, WiFi calling quality has never been great for me on the many T-Mobile branded Android phones I have owned over the years. WiFi calling on my Blackberry back in the day was perfect and of superb quality.

Wifi works fine on my GSIII, though the voice quality is muddy sometimes.
Stock rom and kernal.

Two things,
How you have your router configured can have a huge impact on how well wifi calling works. Read into QoS and configure accordingly.
Second, some parts of the country are served by some back-end hardware that is having some issues.
And yes it has problems, but which other wireless carrier does it better?

Didn't have any problems on stock kernel, switched to trinity 37 and had the in and out voice, tried faux kernel and it is better again. Stock rom otherwise

I could do QoS better with a switchboard than most home routers.

mine was fine for the first couple of weeks use, but started having problems after. when i pick up a call, the screen freezes most of the time, the other times when it actually picks up the call-the other caller can't hear me but i can hear them, not to mention the echoes as well. called tmo tech support a couple of times with no avail except to tell me to do a warranty exchange of the device. i sure do miss my gs2 on this part.

Can you change WifiCalling settings?
Is it possible to change he apn etc in the wificalling function? I am UK need based and want to buy and unlock a US-T-mobile and use it with Orange UK wifi settings (and Orange sim)
Orange, the only WIFI Calling carrier here, sell the S3 without Wifi calling... If you guys have a better work around to suggest I would love to hear.
Thx!

I had issues with calls cutting out really bad when I was on FreeGS3, but I was also on Trinity 37 kernel, so that could have been it. I'm on Wicked Blue ROM now, it comes with a Trinity kernel, and my Wi-Fi calling is excellent...as is the ROM!

You know that this seems to be a kernel issues, A37 seems to have issues with wifi calling, the Wicked Blue Rom has A23. I just flashed the Faux009 kernel and tested wifi calling and no issues now.

the wifi calling really so bad, i use stock rom

Honestly I heavily rely on wifi calling and it's pretty crummy on my GS3.
It used to suck on my Sensation as well and I think I found the solution. I logged into my.t-mobile account online and updated my 911 address and voila wifi calling is always solid on the Sensation. Does not seem to have had the same impact on the GS3. Might be something worth looking into though.
If this helps let us know and hit the thanks button.
I will say that it does seem to be better after flashing the Wicked ROM (in blue). Connects faster and stays connected. Was able to answer a call the other day.

Try this:
Root phone and flash Trinity Kernel 45b. I was on stock and the other kernels and had a lot of issues with wifi. Now everything is fine. Web pages FLY!!!!!! I tried wifi calling with a really crappy wifi router and it still worked! Definitely try this version of the kernel.

You definitely have to get off that thing. The wifi sucks on stock so much. Maybe leave stock rom but try the trinity kernel 45b. Epic wifi.

There have been some outages and such lately but there is something ****ty in the phone when it comes to wifi and wifi calling. On stock it was working ****ty at work with crappy router that was slow but everything at least connects to it. This phone wouldn't connect or stay connected and wifi calling didn't work at all. Once I tried trinity kernel 45b, it's flying. When I mean flying, I mean that my computer core i7 with 16GB of ram can't even touch it. It's not running overclocked either, just stock cpu speed but damn it's flying!!!

Q: Anyone else having really weak wifi signal/dropping issues??

I just tried connecting to my Wifi at work...and I have really low signal...meanwhile, my Nook Color has full bars...anyone else having this problem? Was running CM7RC4 updated to CM7 Final...still same thing...
Yeah, I've noticed the same thing while running CM7. I was on stock Sense before and was getting really strong Wi-Fi signals. Then after going through CM7 nightlies, RC's, and now I'm on CM7 Final I am still getting quite weak signal strength.
Now the trade off is that I get much better battery life from CM7 than from Sense. So I'm okay with it...
Really? No one else?
I've been *****ing about this and no one responds to me like I'm crazy. Cm7 has weak wifi as compared to sense. It seems to even get weaker when I'm holding it with my left hand. When I hold with my right hand it boost right back up. This has been a problem since cm6 but like I said people think I'm *****ing; I know they're aware of this but I guess they can't explain why sense has better wifi reception/performance.
~ d3rk
Yeah...I get the same thing man...but it's weird...my Nook Color running CM7 doesn't do it...
I switch back and forth from MIUI to MikFroyo pretty often. Although WiFi and 3G show stronger signals in Sense, the actual performance/reception is the same. I think AOSP signal strength indicators are more true to life...and Sense pads the numbers. Download Real Signal and test it...dBs are the same no matter what ROM you're on.
My Wifi Drops
I've noticed a similar issue, the AOSP ROMs do have a sightly different number of "bars" for 2g/3g/voice, and I can still make and receive calls when it says I have service.
But my wifi (as many others) does seem to suffer, I actually lose connection some places in my house, where previously running a Sense ROM I did not. Happens at work as well. I did read in another thread other people confirming that the wifi drivers in AOSP are not as good as the sense ones, in addition the GPS drivers seem to have issues as well. No one seems to know why yet, just that it happens. I haven't confirmed dBm levels between the two, but I will probably do that tonight.

[PATCH] T-Mobile Wifi Calling for Desire Z/G2 Gingerbread

Hi Gals and Gals,
Based on the Rom provided by rmk40 [ROM][04/28/11] TMOUS G2 Gingerbread 2.13.531.5 Untouched (from TEST leak), I created a patch to have the Wifi calling back on our phones
The credits come to rmk40 and unforgiven512!
Perfectly working with MIUI Gingerbread Roms like my own: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=958475
Peace
Patch here:
Any difference between this wifi calling app and the froyo one? Any enhancements like routing the wifi call over to cell network when you disconnect from wifi?

just flash the zip
i flashed the zip to my G2 running MIUIDEV-1.4.22 and have noticed a very peculiar problem. it connects and dials normally, but I can only hear what the other person is saying when using speakerphone. when using the regular speaker the audio drops out so much, you can only hear bits and pieces of what the other person is saying very choppy and kinda garbled, sometimes several seconds of dead air. when using speakerphone, there are no audio issues of any kind... weird...

Don't forget, the apk comes from a beta rom, it may be final or still in dev, we probably have to wait for T-Mo to release the final gingerbread version.

check the settings in the wifi calling app and make sure they are still intact. I was having that issue too, that whenever the screen went off (proximity sensor, time out) the audio would cut out.. I had to end up using titanium to restore the app data, and it worked perfectly after that.

At first I couldn't get this patch to work on Vision Gingerbread Sense 2.30.405.1 Untouched http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12476609&postcount=1
but I'm a hardheaded sob so I flashed this Wifi Calling Patch from this rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13830197&postcount=1
Then WiFi calling was working. I'm no dev but I thought I would share so that an real dev can have a look.
I have no idea if there are any side effects.
I hope this helps
I am using [ROM][Jul 14, 2011] Vision Gingerbread Sense 2.42.405.2-WWE Untouched (from OTA).... by far my favorite choice for my G2 so far! Sense is a must have for me, and this ROM has provided the smoothest and fastest running Sense experience I've ever had on my G2.
But... it's Gingerbread, and I believe a release from out of the country, so there is no Wi-Fi calling included. I tried flashing the fix from InsertCoin that a previous poster said worked for him, but it did not install any app. Instead, my phone could no longer connect to a network at all. I had to rewipe and reflash to get my mobile network back. So, I tried the OsiMood patch, which gave me a glimmer of hope... until the app got stuck at "Enabling...." It never actually connects to the T-Mobile WiFi calling network.
I'm really hoping someone has a fix for this! Any information would be much appreciated.

[Q] looking for a good custom ROM supports WIFI calling.

I just got my samsung s3 from t-mobile. There are alot apps preinstalled by t-mobile, they suck, and I never use them. I want to get rid of them and have a clean system. The problem is I have no signal at home, especially in my basement. I need wifi calling. did alot research on google. coudln't find any custom rom that supports wifi calling.
I just want to know if there's a decent rom I can use that provides wifi calling. If possible, good battery life as well.
Any t999 rom that is a TouchWiz base will have WiFi calling available. Test them out yourself and see which you like. Everyone has their preferences and might not meet yours. They are all pretty much debloated and themed to the cooks liking so you just have to pick which you like.

Wifi Calling Help

I started using ILWT's CM7 rom not really knowing what I was getting into. It works great but 80% of my life is outside of cell range and I rely heavily on wifi calling.
The stock G2 wifi calling app no longer works (which apparently everyone knows). I tried using tmobile's crappy Tmobile bobsled app which was a waste of time.
How do I get my wifi calling/texting back? preferably one that uses my phone number like the stock one did. I've searched around seen people refering to links in their signatures that are no longer there but nothing else.
Please help, I'd rather not go back to stock but will if I have to.

CM7.2 has wifi calling as does a some of the sense 2.1 and sense 3.0. There is a version out there for ICS (I use it all the time), but there is no wifi calling for JB.
What I will do is go back and look on my archive of info and see if I can find a wifi calling add-on that works with ILWT

**UPDATE** added the file I have might work.

WiFi on = horrible voice reception.

Hello. Maybe someone seen something similar and has a solution.
My Note 3 immediately drops all signal to almost nothing the moment WiFi connects. Where I am, I have 4 bars with LTE on. Once I enable WiFi and connect to AP, signal goes to zero bars.
Initially I thought it's cosmetic. But after some testing, I realized that it is not. About 40% of all calls go to voicemail. When I do get a call that comes through, if it's HD voice, I sound to them like latest T-Pain's album, like I am being auto-tuned. When it's not HD voice, it's simply breaking up.
WiFi calling does not kick in.
And weirdly enough, it's happening to my girlfriend's Nexus 5, also on T-Mobile.
Stock rooted.
Baseband N900TUVUBMI7
Kernel 3.4.0-1670611
SIM and region unlocked with Chainfire's utility.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
There was a thread in here about that, from what I read when you turn on wifi the data pretty much shuts off as far as 4g/lte. This is how it comes out of the box, a least for 4.3 I'm sure is the same on 4.4. Will look later on tapatalk and searching sucks.

I figured the mobile data will be pretty much disabled. But that does not explain why voice problems would pop up.
