Anyway to trick the Market into letting me purchase it? I haven't used all of my Play Store credit because I keep hoping everyday Adobe will update it to make it available for our more than capable device. No dice though.

Your current options are either to buy directly from Adobe or side-load from another functional device.
I had the same question when I got mine. And let me tell you, while PS touch is awesome, I am getting some serious mileage out of Proto.

No, strictly wire framing. Incredibly reliable CSS export, though.

What do you mean cloud subscription? I've been trying to figure out a way to get the app onto my n7, and tried purchasing directly from adobe and also get forwarded to the play store. Is there something I'm missing here?
I really want to get this on my n7
P. S. I also made a thread asking the same question a week or so ago, try searching next time.

That's actually the flaw in Adobe's plan. I'm a working developer as well, but the fact that they want to charge you extra just to by the app directly from them, on top of app purchases themselves, and charge you just to sync your work (that you made, using software you've already paid for) is just wrong. Piracy is mainly driven by restrictive access and unreasonable costs - both areas of great expertise to Adobe.
When it takes you 10 years to allow proper pasting between windows and add stroke-to-path in one of the most popular graphical suites in existence - you've got a problem. Adobe has its fingers on our wallets, but not our best interests as designers.
When free software can replicate almost every feature you present (plus tons more), but faster, easier, cross-OS compatible, and free...you're got even more problems. I work with huge companies like CVS, Walgreens, and Wal-mart with packaging design. I would use Inkscape/GIMP any day over the CS family...if only industrial printers didn't require ridiculously outdated formats (CS4 PDFs? Really?). That is seriously the only thing holding me back from using free-software entirely for my professional work.
You should be complaining to Adobe, not the pirates.

Well I think you're getting into a bit of chicken vs. egg situation here as well. In all the rants I've seen on the issues of pirates v. developers, not a single one has come up with a viable solution for developers, and as such end users are stuck with horrible DRM strategies as a resolution.
My day job sees me working for a smaller market (though still in the "big leagues") sports franchise, where concerns over CS licenses are non-existent (they can afford plenty). On the other hand, Creative Cloud has been an absolutely outstanding way for me to purchase my own license for freelance work (granted, only about 20% of my annual income, but still no small potatoes). I'm effectively paying $600 a year for access to something that would have been cost prohibitive before. And frankly, I absolutely hate GIMP (personal preference and all that).
So while I see restrictive access and prohibitive cost as major issues (make no mistake - I'm no Adobe sympathizer), I honestly think their tact with CS6 is a far sight better than most companies are doing to in terms of implementing DRM.
Regardless (and for a plethora of reasons), you won't find me all too eager to endorse piracy on a public forum.
I'm glad that it's helped you - I don't deny that many of their products are extremely useful. I'm just not really supportive of closed ecosystems.
And I also agree with the "not endorsing piracy". I endorse free (or "free enough") and open software as an alternative. Then, everyone wins.
But I'm off-topic now.
I am also sad that PS Touch isn't available on the N7 yet.

Adobe pricing debate,
Let me grab some popcorn first.
I paid for PSE for my PC, why should I pay (or use) inferior software on an inferior sized screen? I just don't think any photo editing software on a 7" or smaller screen is worth anything but free. I would think manufacturers would give this stuff away free so you go buy it for your PC if you like it. Plenty of free stuff out there for casual photo touch up (Picsay, Canvas, Sketchbook, Pixlr, PicsArt).

Is anyone here actually excited about windows phone 7?
Don't think that i'm a "fanboy/hater" that is trying to stir up an issue.
I've been using windows MOBILE devices since 2003. My first expereince was with the i-mate jam (magician) which was rock solid. Then moved on to the i-mate k-jam (wizard). After that it was the jasjam (hermes), followed by the ATT tilt (kaiser) then the ATT fuze (raphael) and finally the ATT tilt2 (rhodium).
There have been some devices in between but these winmo phones were always my "daily drivers".
My affection towards windows mobile was how customizable they all are!
Now windows phone 7 comes along and i feel like microsoft is attempting to get into the iphone market. from all the reviews and other blogs i have read. WM7 is coming out as how the first iphone was... non-customizable and really limited/restricted!
Am i the only one that feels this way? that we've been dropped off for a consumer base that they're not even sure they're gonna get?
well I've already rounded up all the accessories for my tilt2 and ready to put it up on either the xda market page for sale or craigslist to get a dell streak (once it is actually released in the US)!
This is not a rant but more of a question.
Why are you excited about wm7?
I'm definitely excited.
It's the first new platform on market, I think it's fair to say that, for years.
Looks as quite well prepared and designed, very modern indeed.
Will be great to try this. And see how good it is.
As WM user it's quite a natural step to check this out.
Yea, it's not as customizable and hackable as WM6/5 but is WM5/6 all that customizable if you discount Hard-SPL/custom firmware? What makes people think that XDA members will not "unlock" WP7 just like we have WM6?
So yea, out of the box it's more restricted. But at least the carriers and OEMs can's ship utter crap to customers like they have been. We can then 'unlock' and add/hack as we wish. But instead of starting off with a dated and buggy OS that is missing so much of what other platforms have, we will have a clean, fast, solid base in to build on. One thing we'll need to look out for (and might become a hassle) is the update mechanism. Microsoft locked down the platform for good reasons, mainly so they could update all devices at the same time with the same OS updates. Chances are things that we add/modify will have to be re-done when MS releases updates.
So yea, don't worry about it being "locked down". It hasn't stopped the iPhone enthusiasts from having an unlocked platform. But it has provided them with a vibrant base that has a wealth of third party and consumer support.
Excited? No. neglected? Yes.
Dell streak, maybe. HP may do a WebOS tablet, and I really want that!

Yes Windows Phone 7 is a shift from business users/very technical to a general consumer approach and I hope it does well, so MS dedicates more resources to it to deliver what's missing in a speedy manner.
Yes. But I'm also not the one who will use it from the beginning.
No c & p, no file manager, no multitask, no Flash and HTML 5 at launch - a no go. It will be miserably crippled compared to my current WM 6.5.3 unfortunately.
Waiting for it.......

I have the same opinion. I don't really care about flash, but why not have it if needed? Also what's wrong to have the option of which apps you want to be running in the background? No filemanager? Seriously?

From all the videos of WP7 and Android usage,
I wouldn't use term "blowing away".
The simplicity of WP7, yes.
But it's so overwhelming to see Android doing things WP7 cannot.
'Blows away' is nonsense. It looks better, is simpler and does a lot less.
Simpler also doesn't mean easier to use. E.g. when I can access any controls with one click, that makes it easier to use.
Which UI do I prefer? I don't know. One looks better, the other is more powerful.
None of them 'blows away' the other. Both blow away the iPhone's UI.

It's going to be an xbox portable. That's the xbox live integration is about. Microsoft even set up a mobile division of their Microsoft Gaming Studio to develop games for it. The phone will have mobile xbox games a lot like the psp that ties into xbox live. So you'll get achievements and build up your gamer score.
It'll be lacking a bit behind the PSP because it won't have a game pad but hopefully developers will take use of the landscape keyboard and give us the option of using that instead of a touch screen.
I have been on xda for a little over a year. It is the site I come to first for anything. The minds at work here have helped me make my Evo the fantastic old school device it is now. But my friends and I have came to the conclusion that there is a LOT of arguing and bickering. It seems to be an issue.
My suggestion? Keep the site as is. Access can stay the same. But only allow people that pay, say .99 xda enrollment fee, to be able to download and/post. Make it just as readable as it currently is. Allow the trolls to read posts and hate quietly. Leave it to the people that are here for development or modifications. It should trim down a lot of the general crybabies and arguementative people. They will still be there, but not as many, and either way xda as a whole wins. At .99 a memeber you would be able to enjoy such downloads as apks, posting about topics, etc.
That would probably be a great way to drive of devs from this site. Going to make them pay to post, make people pay to get their roms apps etc. They could go to different sites or open their own, which is what would happen
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Pay to post? I mean I knew this was going to be a horrible idea from the title, but I didn't expect "Don't let anyone post unless they pay!"
I don't think so. Lots of people pay .99 for so silly app all the time. I'm merely making a suggestion to help clear the clutter. If u haven't notice, some devs have already left...due to bickering. Whining. I know of countless people who would gladly come to a little more refined site. And no, a paid membership would keep all the trash out but it definitely would cut it down.
To ad to this, please moderators or devs please don't take offense to this post. I love xda. This is a great site. I felt I came to the right forum w a decent idea. I do not expect this idea implemented but I feel as though it shouldn't be discarded but at least looked into. I understand the size of this site and am not looking to disrespect any member of this board. But I would gladly pay for a little exclusivity if it meant in the long run that the social a developmental needs were being better met.

It would be as a membership fee. Pay to post is all you have read? Haha. I've watched people buy apps for $2 and never use them. You say .99 is too much? Maybe its xda that's all too glad to accept everyone when in truth that's not always the right approach due to abusers of privilege. Most paid just for xda premium unless they ripped it of some site. I have accrued way more than .99 worth of knowledge. This is simply food for thought. Its not really about money. My idea just seemed simple and an extremely easy way to solve many mild issues. I can deal with it as free is great for me. But I personally would be more than willing to, due to the resources xda offers alone is enough.
While this isnt the worst idea I've ever heard I do think its a little extreme.
In my opinion the best way to deal with these problem users is for diligent and well intentioned members such as yourselves to make full use of the report post function and let us deal with any issues that might arise.
I also think that there needs to be a little understanding of the fact that this is the internet and it is crawling with trolls....
We will deal with problematic users but we need your help and for people to understand that although we endeavour to deal with any situation as quickly as possible, we simply cannot catch every little thing right there and then.
Also, if you see a member who is clearly out to cause drama and controversy...
Dont feed the troll. If everyone made more of an effort to simply ignore these idiots then they'd get bored pretty quickly...
In the words of the prophets Bill & Ted....

C) form your own opinion about a and b and get back to me
yes i agree 100% that this is a bad idea xda has always been about promoting open source if u make people pay to use the site then it would be one of the most contradicting things ive ever seen.
Also as compared to other website like ppcgeeks and android forums xda is far more organized and set up better i think its just fine the way it is.
on another note when i read the title u came of as a troll right away u might want to reward that a little.
That's funny. Well, none of it was meant to be taken any wrong way. Merely a suggestion. That's what the forums are here for.
Like it or not my idea will never come to fruition but I still would gladly pay. Anyone that argues or complains or suggests its outrageous should look at how much knowledge is worth.
We will all have our own ideas and opinions and in the end .99 isn't **** to be a member of an elite site such as xda. Which I will gladly accept and enjoy my free membership. And if it ever were to change, I wouldn't complain one bit
If trying to come up with a creative solution is considered being a troll then I think about 100% of users on this site fall in that category. Maybe have a 3 strike and your banned policy if you get reported for unruly behavior 3 times then boom access denied! That might make folks think twice before bashing someone who is just trying to learn.

agreed. You can get prepaid credit cards for free now. Just go to the local grocery store.
I actually wouldn't mind this, the same way I don't mind paying for my apps or my mediafire acct. I don't think 10 bucks a year registration fee would be unreasonable.
But it would never happen for the reasons already listed. Open source might be free, but the devices are not, and people don't seem to mind dropping 600 bucks on the next latest and greatest.
As a side note for the minors, I have actually considered getting my kids prepaid debit cards that are reloadable for their allowance. It's a digital age. People that still write checks at walmart drive me crazy. They are processed as a debit and given right back!!!

hp will put out webos in september and wash their hands of it.
Realistically, the next version will most likely have some desktop mode when plugged into a dock. This is why they bought moto and makes a lot of sense for a few reasons:
1. Lets android compete on a different level than ios or windows phone, allowing it to be your computer and your phone.
2. The hardware is ready there to do this, so it makes sense for them to make the leap now.
3. Instead of competing with toy OS's like ios, wp7, and webos, they would be playing with the big boys (aka, windows). Once your operating system is capable of real productivity, you can sell to the business market, which is huge and has had no competition. since the birth of windows 95.
4. This would require a new peripheral, which would boost sales and further lock people into Google's services.
After paying billions for moto and sitting on them, I can't see any other logical path for them to take.
On a side note, noticed most current phones have a barometer. Any ideas on how this might be used in the future?

Realistically, the next version will most likely have some desktop mode when plugged into a dock. This is why they bought moto and makes a lot of sense for a few reasons:
1. Lets android compete on a different level than ios or windows phone, allowing it to be your computer and your phone.
2. The hardware is ready there to do this, so it makes sense for them to make the leap now.

It's a novel idea but I doubt they're up to this level yet. If anything I see it coming in later releases. Why do this when they can expand their whole hardware portfolio of selling chromebooks, tablets, etc.? I think that's more important than trying to turn their Android phones into desktop computers.
After paying billions for moto and sitting on them, I can't see any other logical path for them to take.

Take the large number of valuable patents and sell the failing Motorola hardware business that loses money every quarter.
I want Google to integrate Motorola's hardware business and make awesome "All Google" Nexus devices as much as any other Android fan, but I don't see them doing this, especially not in the short term. They'd be competing directly with the manufacturers they currently license Android to, which isn't a very good business model.

But yeah, we'll probably see a lot of WebOS stuff trickle onto Android (just look at swipe to dismiss). Google just hired the core WebOS team

Where is Android going? Within a few years, the best ever. I'd say by 2016 its going to start becoming old. (Ala Symbian, BB) I hate to say it, but its inevitable. I love Android and hope to god it never goes there.

It seems natural to do that. But I don't know of Google would ever let that happen. Same reason why Apple wouldn't let that happen with iOS. I just feel Google has big plans for Android and for it to just be much more than a mobile OS. And plus with every Google service being so tightly integrated into Android it would be too hard for it to fail at this point. Time will tell! But I'm excited like you. And optimistic.

I used to think the same about google as a search engine, although they've proved me (and everyone) wrong by completely dominating the search engine market since the internet was very young. Google's motivated and has a lot of sway, and unlike most corporations, people really seem to LIKE google! I think if anyone can break the cycle of companies rising and falling, it's them
Android will be around for the time being.
The history is repeating. This is similar how did IBM-compatible PC beat Apple computer by adapting open standard versus propitiatory. Since PC accepts open hardware standard, it has further advantage than Mac.
Android (and Windows Phone 7.x) also accepts open hardware specifications, and the result is we have much wider choice of hardware instead of ONE.
An open os will sell itself. I can not wait to triple boot my pc with android. I would love having the exact same experience from my phone to my pc. And if anyone has the money and time to do it, it is Google.

That he is perfectly entitled to his opinion oh and that he is a complete tool
Its very easy to sum up windows phone in 24hours took me ages to actually work out all the functions and am still surprised by ones I don't know about today, Fan-boys will always be exactly that and he is probably too stubborn to admit anything different from what he is familiar with, As I said a complete tool with no imagination for change or willingness to accept anything other than his comforts, Sheepish behaviour we are all too familiar with these days.
I agree - he was offered an evaluation for 30 days but sent the phone back after 1 day. I don't think he went into the evaluation with an open mind.
Also, his site says "I am NOT an average man ... I enjoy quality cutlery and firearms." Not someone I'd particularly want to argue with
I can sum it up with three words - "get a life".

Err, given your inability to say anything in an objective manor it doesn’t surprise me you have had difficulties adjusting to Windows Phone. It is different, ergo you need to learn. Let me say that again in case it didn’t sink in, Windows Phone is different to an iPhone, and Android, there for YOU have to LEARN.
The fact you ditched it after only a day, the fact you write like a teenage fan-boy and finally the fact that you haven’t been objective from the very first words that littered your blog here tells me and any other sane mature individual that you shouldn’t be doing such reviews any more, its a waste of energy, a waste of time and worst of all, its just plain inaccurate FUD.
Dont give up the day job son, or more likely, get your arse back to school.

I'd say nothing...never mess with keyboard gangstas, the simple fact that they have a blog just in order to share their worthless and arrogant words about things with complete strangers over the web means that they have some huge ego, which they don't show in real life because they're weak and they would get their arse smashed dealing with real people with real cohones. And they all work in IT, yeah right...

Gangsta? If momma has to pick you up at school or you have to ride the bus to work, you ain't no gangsta. I agree wholeheartedly with the rest of your post, good work.
At first I'd write myseld in rage.. I hate "kids" like this, people that idotic reviews of a new product with the conclusen it's ****ty because it's not like all the other comparable products. I mean only because Anroid looks like iOS, WP hast to do it too? Sure after one day, he knows everything about the Device. And if he'd really want a good navigation software, he'd purchased Navigon (or whatever it's called). Maybe then, maybe later I'd recognise what I'm doing and that there is no point in doing so, because attention is what he wants, and I'd delete my text again.
Afterall I argree with vnvman!

Xbox games are seperate also Only acheivements are stored for prosterity. IT's not like you can't play one game without playing another.
I'd rather only the time be shown then using the ripp off from android for the notification center.
He complains about MS renaming yet he loves apple that decided not the call the ipad 3 nothing else but the "Ipad". What a marketing mess. WHich ipad do you own? You know i have the ipad. The new or old? I don't know just says ipad.

Frankly if I were to ever speak to him I would say I'm glad you have freedom of speech wherever you live and thank you for not posting to the Windows Phone section of XDA. The guys over in the Andriod section of this forum may be cursing Windows Phone every day. I don't know about it because I don't read that section. To each there own. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion... even if I think their opinion is really dumb. It only bothers me if they keep shoving it in my face for no apparent reason when they don't have anything else to contribute to the platform.

Hardly a proper app, have you read the reviews? Charging for crap like this probably does more harm than good to the 'platform'.
"doesnt retain info ...waste of money"
"Rip off. Author is a thief. This is a wrapper for free websites, nothing more than a bookmark. Until a proper app is released, just go to united.com.
"This app sucks"
"Worthless app. Doesn't retain data or keep you logged in. The website is much more user friendly."
"Absolute waste of money. Use the mobile website and you will get a better experience."
Not exactly the best example to defend WP!
As others have already mentioned, this guy is a complete tool.
*No receipt scanning app - I use HandyScan and I love it.
*Populating People Hub with crap contacts from hotmail account - Well... that's what you get for not maintaining your hotmail contacts better. I set a friend up, a few weeks ago, with her first smart phone... the Lumia 710. On her RAZR, she had all her phone numbers. On her hotmail account, she had all her email addresses. Have to manually merge the two. A lengthy, but necessary process that only has to happen once. That this guy can't keep his contacts in good order is clearly NOT my problem.
*Camera functions suck - Yes, there is no question that the iPhone 4s has an amazing camera with good funtionality. Actually using it though is a complete PITA. I was teaching a few friends how to select focus and exposure points on their iPhones. So much work with pressing and long pressing. Oh, and I can't stand having to press the software button to snap the photo. I'm constantly hitting the home button instead of the shutter. It's remarkably awkward and unintuitive. This, however, is only my opinion based upon the fact that I've never own an iPhone and never well, but am quite skilled in how to actually use one.
If the guy doesn't want his Hotmail contacts to show up, it only takes a couple of steps to filter which contacts show up. Using the phone one day, he never gave it a chance.

yes, but he did say there was "none"
Actually i would have used skyscanner or something else but he was saying one specific brand was not there.
As a regular consumer, who cares about what he says.
His false opinions are his own.
For gods sake judging by how he wrote this so-called "review" labels him as an iOS sheep and Android bridge troll, what a goddamn fcking retard.
I laughed so hard at this chaps apparent inability to take on new tech, he really does come across as being a pre teen keyboard warrior.
I for one am glad he doesnt like the OS, WP7 is better off without people who cannot count the amount of appendages they posess.

THIS IS A CALL FOR HELP FROM ANY AND ALL AUTOMOTIVE LOVERS AND DEVELOPERS FOR HELP TO GET THIS FINISHED.
There will be a job posting on XDA this week with more info.
What is ELA?
Full Video and Demo
ELA is a downloadable touch screen interface on your Android Device or WinCE Hardware that makes the hardware easier to use while in a moving vehicle.
E – Elegant
L – Logical
A – Adaptive
Touch screen systems in cars have become either so difficult to use or don’t have the features needed to keep the current crop of tech drivers happy. Automotive manufacturers don’t have the resources or desire to create open source setups as of yet to make the cars we are driving today updatable or upgradable for the life of the car. The design and concepts of ELA were created by the automotive enthusiasts with a focus on ease of use. The UI (User Interface) is designed to be for the novice or hard core geeks.
Why?
Because there is so much the android platform can offer for next to no cost. The features that we can add to our vehicles is endless, keeping the tech in the car relevant while not having to spent more on the factory options for NAV etc. that will be out dated in just a year or two.
Features:
Fluid elegant interface
Large easy to access icons and layout for moving vehicles
Designed around most proposed federal safety standards
Gesture support
Simply and intuitive operation with little or no knowledge tech knowledge required
Extensive and exhaustive customization ability
All android functionality intact, no handicaps
History:
Design Started 2 years ago and has reached the level where demand has out stripped the capabilities of one person.

The XDA community is probably one of the most hard core, so I value all opinions.
Does this have any Bluetooth OBDII options? If so I would like to try it. Think you can just attach the beta version here?
*Edit - I see in the video that it does have OBDII options.

I will post up the beta versions on here for sure, just need to get the initial work done. Yes the OBD2/BT support is all dependent on your tablet you use.
Which basically every Android device for the most part does not have any issues with. Nexus 7 obviously does but that's more with Audio.
I love the look of it. It makes me want to make a mount for it in my car
It's going to be a lot of work to garner the support have to raise awareness. I think car people once they see it will want it.
Here are two more quick themed looks:
Re: [Q] ELA Automotive UI | Pre-Release
Having wasted money before on a kickstarter software project (hint: learn about the Chameleon Android launcher fiasco) I'd warn folks away from supporting them via kickstarter.
That said it does look like a great concept and I hope it develops into a real product.

I can't offer any useful advice and do hope you can find folks somehow. The old fashioned way of going door to door to venture capital people with a business plan is fine for a small business but it's total overkill for the type of thing you want to do so I can really understand the appeal of what kickstarter offers.
I just learned the hard way about kickstarter. You can't get any money back because the site itself in the fine print explicitly spells out that nothing is guaranteed. And the site people don't seem to provide any policing of projects. I assume it's because they make their money by taking a cut of the funds pledged.
As long as the people pledging funds realize that the money can just as easily be spent on an overseas vacation as for the actual reason being pledged and that there are no guarantees at all I don't have any objection to the idea. And I've seen some good projects but they were all material based not intellectual based.
If I saw an honest appeal for a software or even a hardware based project that relied on software that said something along the lines of "we are going to try this but it may be a complete flop" in their appeal I'd be more willing to support kickstarter projects. Obviously it wouldn't be as blunt as what I offered but I'm just looking for a bit more honesty about projects. A pledge of even $20-30 shouldn't break most people's bank so it's not a major deal. But I really dislike feeling like I've been a sucker.

You are not really hacking it, its just a straight install you don't even need root.
And when you pull it out of the car you can easily go back to the N7 UI or whatever tablet UI you use.
Seems like a good idea. Can't do anything else but tell you to keep up the good work and hope you get what you need.
I wish you the best of luck with this. I just got a N7 today and will be doing a custom fiberglass mount into my car so I can mainly utilize Google Music and not have to transfer music all the time. I saw the ELA project and it looks amazing. Hopefully this evolves into something awesome!
Thanks for the support, I hope it works out and helps everyone who uses Android in their car,
Been following development on the g+ page, hopefully you can get people on board that are able to assist. Perhaps speaking to one of the Mods/Admins and see if a "call for Developers" can be made on the front page. I don't know but i think this is a great concept not only for the car but i see it useful in the home as a media center ui. Too bad i don't code or i would've jumped at the chance to help out.Good luck!!
Great idea. I'm a big car person. Unfortunately not a developer, I would love be your beta tester and give u feedback. Is it still alive? Haven't seen any update
