[Q] How to root after updating to 4.0.4 Official ICS? - LG Nitro HD

Thank you!

Need root method for Stock ICS 4.0.4 on LG Nitro
Thanks in advance for any help. I am new to this forum and I novice when it comes to the Android OS.
I updated my LG Nitro to ICS 4.0.4 yesterday, July 31st, 2012.
I had a feeling I wasn't going to be able to keep my root and I was right. I no longer have root privileges and none of the previous methods I used to root 2.3.2 are working.
I have scoured the internet looking for a way to root ICS 4.0.4 with absolutely no luck.
I am looking for a working method to root the new update to the LG Nitro, ICS 4.0.4.
Any help would be greatly appreciated; however, please keep in mind that I catch onto things quick but I am not an expert by any means as far as the Android OS goes. I am used to the one click methods to rooting.
PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU CAN. I REALLY NEED TO ROOT THIS PHONE TO USE MY APPS. ANYWAY I CAN ROOT THIS AND KEEP ICS WOULD BE GREAT!!!!

One working method is to flash v18f, root it and then flash v20c with some scripts

Is there a tutorial?

I appreciate the response.
I sort of understand what you are saying. Is there a tutorial on this? Like I said I am a novice when it comes to the Android OS and tutorials are my life savers.
Thanks!

Any luck with this method. Anyone working on a one click method after the official ICS update by any chance?

Okay I know the 1st post asked for root for the offical ICS version, but i don't know if there has been more updates since then, I just got a Nitro HD today. So will this method work to get permanent root for a band new out of the box software version LG-P930-v20c-June-25-2012???
I am not a noobie but I am use to rooting HTC phones and I just want to be sure this will work for software version v20c.
Thanks in advance and i would really appreciate if someone can tell me if this method is safe.

Yes, that method is safe and is the only currently known way to root the v20c version. However, even with root, you will not be able to install CWM. If you only want root, go ahead and follow those instructions.
If you are interested in installing custom ROMs, you must downgrade to a Gingerbread ROM (i.e., follow the unbricking guide).

[Q] Nitro With v10j root

I just got my phone back from LG, but they have pre-installed the new OTA update from February, so I can't root it anymore. Is there a way for me to root it? Maybe, if, you know, I followed the the last steps of the unbricking guide where I have to flash the original ATT images?

You need to follow the entire unbricking guide. The last steps require root, and the steps leading up to that are what allow you to get root in the first place.
Although it will bring you to the original AT&T ROM, keep in mind you will be rooted even after flashing them and there really isn't a clean way to get back to a fully unrooted ROM.

If you are going straight to CM9 or another flashed ROM, then you can skip the last steps and just install CWM from the Korean ROM. Although you may still want to flash the baseband/firmware images.

Can I still root my HTC ONE?

I just bought a used HTC ONE that was already updated to 4.3. I understand that the bootloader is locked but can I still root it and install custom ROMs? If yes, can anyone suggest a simple tool or method for rooting? I am not very tecchie but I am good at following instructions Thanks in advance.

Nope unfortunately you can't do anything at all yet.

[Q] Best way to root

In the ever changing market of roots and exploits I believe it would be nice to have a device specific rooting "poll". the other reason I'm starting this thread is because I can't seem to root my phone tried towelroot but it says my device is not supported. Im running stock 4.2.2 and I want to root mainly so I can back everything up before I custom install stock 4.4.2
Towelroot works for 4.4
Being on 4.2.2 you could try the Safe-Root method depending on your actual Firmware. Otherwise you have to stick to rooting through CWM.
All methods have their threads here. Please read them.
You could also backup your data with adb without root and after update restore this adb backup to your device. So there's no need to root before installing custom 4.4.2
CWM all day! so fast and easy to do plus it's easy to unroot.

http://www.s4miniarchive.com/search/label/Root Find your model version and read the instructions, you won't regret it.
4.2.2 can be rooted using Kingo. Doesn't trip knox.

[Q] How to root LG G3 D855 on Lollipop.

I was wondering if there was some method for rooting the LG G3 on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). I've searched far and wide on the internet but have found nothing so far. I did see that there were methods for the Nexus devices but nothing for LG.
Would like this as well. I thought I could live a while without root.. Seems like I just can't. :crying:
I think that you can find already rooted lollipop version on the forum.
For now, i nowhere found any root options.
Sent from my LG-D855
now it's impossible to root lollypop via purpledrake, ioroot or other programs but you can flash a rooted bumped rom.
I'll wait for this.
Same situation here.
Planned to use the pre-rooted lollipop but to use it you need twrp on the phone. To get twrp you need first root. So its a dead end, a points on b and b points back on a, both needing the other present first.....
Maybe if you flash an older kdz, root it with any of the previous methods, then get twrp on the phone and then flash the pre-rooted lollipop. Im just gonna wait for a lollipoproot without twrp needed.

I am on 5.0 and tried purpledrake (since i used it with 4.4.2), but it did not work, i also tried Stump and got an error too. With 5.0 the structure has changed and the methods for KK are different to Lollipop. So far, even with Nexus, the only way to root is through bootloader/kernel.
Hopefully soon we will see a method that can bypass this.
This is the method that works on the d855 by skin1980 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-lollipop-rooted-rom-skin1980-t2936022

Yup, thats the reason why i downgraded it to KK. Downgrade, root and you can install rooted L.
Sent from my LG G3
Does that work then? I'm on Lollipop 20a on the D855. If i install the KK kdz, will it make the phone rootable again? I read something to do with the boot loader not reverting back to how it was before lollipop

Use this guide to downgrade http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
(you can flash almost any KK KDZ, v10x of course, but make sure it's for your device)
Root it with your preferred root method (i prefer Purple Drake)
BUMP it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2900614
Now you can flash the bumped roms you'll like. Just make sure, it's for your device.
lg g3 d855 5.0
Had the bumped 5.0 twrp flashed the wrong superSU so went back to stock took the 5.0 OTA update now searching for root solution, tried purple drake no joy puts it in the mode but fails as expected, so i guess i will also wait

[Q] Root v20f recovery LG g3

Hi guys I have this doubt is not able to find a solution anywhere. I have an LG g3 v20f without root. I read to apply the root must move to a previous version and install a rom bump and Lilliput, the problem is here, not having the root, you can install a modified recovery? If you like? You can unlock the bootloader having v20f without root? Thanks to all
You have to downgrade to Kitkat, then root it and then you will be able to flash recovery.
And how do I move to kitkat? Need a tool?
