Jelly bean camera on ics - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I was just wondering if it's possible to port over the jelly bean camera app to ics. Has anyone tried it? I'm not ready to leave AOKP ics yet but I really like the jelly bean camera.
Thanks for any help guys

Nightly builds of AOKP JB is out already if that helps

I don't think it would work since u need the framework (I think???) And other stuff.
And no, no one is gonna port it. It's not needed and Ur probably the only person on the Nexus Forum that wants this.
I can give u the camera.apk if u wanna try it.

Yea I know it's a bit of an odd request
, I guess I'll just try to copy over camera.apk and gallery.Apk from one of the Jb roms and see if it works.

It doesn't have all the functionality and customization yet though, but once it catches up to ics AOKP it will be awesome

You know how to install it right???
U gotta use root explore.

Well if anyone still cares I tried this and ran into a couple problems. First I couldn't find the camera.apk in bigxie's jellybean zip and secondly I tried replacing ics gallery with jelly bean gallery but it would force close when I tried to look at a single picture. Also I think jelly bean camera is built into gallery app because I still had a camera icon in my app drawer after removing the ics camera.apk however it would force close after trying to open it.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

im also interested for this. if there's anyone can port it out will be awesome. one of the thing interest me for jellybean is their new concept for camera and gallery. if framework needed. can we just copied it over ? not sure which framework tough.

I think this might just take too much work to be a worthwhile project for someone with the know how to do it. Also we can't complain when we can easily flash jelly bean on our nexus. I think I will just suck it up and live without some of the customizations for a while on jelly bean AOKP. I'm sure it'll catch up to ics within a month or so. The nighties feature list is filling up quite quickly.

Well it sure can be done, the question is, if someone is willing to put the time into it. But all you need to do, is actually to pull the code for the app from aosp, and put it in eclipse, and then start fixing errors and rewrite whatever shows up.

I think it might take a larger amount of work than usual for this type of thing, due to the fact that camera and gallery are in one apk now. Then again, it seems like a nice challenge. I wish I had the time and a little bit more coding knowledge to try it.

Hi all,
I have released an improved version of the Jelly Bean camera that is compatible also with ICS devices.
Unfortunately only paid version is available right now but I hope to release a free/limited version next week.

If you have any questions I will be happy to answer.

Well I guess someone did work on it, I never thought about the fact that there would be a demand for this from users of other devices that will likely never get official jellybean.

I can confirm that the CAMERA JB+ works for ICS.
So you can use the JB gallery and JB camera on ICS.
No bugs or lag and the quality is the same.

If it is at all, ICS took some months before stable ROMS started showing up, so it would not be something you can expect right away

It isn't! Just think when we were on 2.3 and we got that upgrade to 2.3.4 and then 2.3.5 and 2.3.7
ICS and Jelly Bean aren't that far apart.......there's only about a dozen new features that make Jelly Bean different
I took a look at the framework-res.apk and a few other core apks and it looks like Google just added on to ICS instead of building Jelly Bean from the ground up BUT I'm sure someone will read an article over at Engadget and come in here and try to act smarter then me..hahaha

That explains why the GUI isn't as drastically different
So jelly bean is coming out soon but ics camera is not ironed out yet.
Why most ics roms still have still camera issues (FFC) or smooth video playback or even recording? hasn't the necessary files been acquired since google is planning on releasing JB?
I just dont understand. When can we have ICS camera that works like GB cameras?
Miui got the camera to work on their ics roms
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
If miui got the ffc working on ics then it's probably not an hwa ics rom
The most common misconception among noobs is that developers are not working on fixing bugs just because they don't have a WIP thread or they're not updating you every 5-10 minutes. Most developers like to keep things private until they get ready to release it :good:
Another one is that, things are real easy like just swapping the camera.apk from a rom that has it working to another one in order to get things working...hahahahhaa
There's also priorities! Fixing Temple Run or instagram is usually at the bottom of the list when it comes to bugs for a developer....don't expect a developer to drop everything he or she is doing so that you can share pictures of your cat on instagram
The reason the FFC isn't working yet is because is not as easy as some of you guys think it is! This becomes even harder for a device that's EOL....instead of asking WHY is not working, you could be asking....what can I do to help the developers make it work!
Having ICS (4.0.4) with a working camera and HWA on a device that's 2 years old and was made for froyo/gb is an achievement on it's own! Instead of asking why things aren't working and possibly turning this thread into YET ANOTHER dev bashing thread, let's be thankful that we have the developers we do Things could go downhill if we start acting like iPhone users and start complaining because things are not fixed fast enough or when we want it......let's just chill out! Things like the FFC will come in time.......remember how long it took for us to even get HWA!
Also Jellybean will come sooner or later, someone will port it! I'm almost sure that it will come......whether that's Team D.I.R.T or Diablo or JMZ or some random dude that we've never heard of...IT WILL COME!! Now, let's stop with the GIVE ME NOW attitudes!
I'm not trying to sound all high and mighty here BUT it bothers me to hear people say "why hasn't this been fixed yet" or "the EVO 3D has this working, why can't we get it done" but nobody wants to step up and help out? Everyone wants to ask for ETAs and ask what's taking so long or demand every feature they can name on a rom BUT I don't see too many people offering to help.......just saying!
FYI guys, things like this can't be fixed by just swapping apps around or downloading an app from the Play Store.....I heard some guy (to remain nameless) say "why don't we just get the camera from the sensation so that way we can get FFC going" and almost died laughing...hahahahahahaha
I would **** my pants if someone got jb running smooth on the evo with almost everything working

Dual Booting

OK I have the dual booting app all set up and everything(I think). But I can't seem to pass the Google Screen when I try to dual boot to Paranoid Android.

maybe its a kernel issue like a jellybean kernel wont work on a ics rom like miui idk thats what heppened to me when i tried to dual boot
Kernel???? How??? I did an experiment to see a certain result. I tried to duel boot from JB to JB (Vicious Into CM10) and it didn't work.
So it can't be the kernel.
This app is sooo neat though that I refuse to give up and get it to work. I've been reading the App's website about how to use it.

Hello!!!
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I have downloaded your jaw dropping app "Boot Manager". I have the Galaxy Nexus running v4.1.1. I have read the Manual Website and learned a lot about your app. Just when I thought my phone was ready for it's first ever dual boot, my phone gets stuck at the Google Screen and then directs me back to Recovery. I was able to fix it by following instructions on your websites.
Attempted Dual Boot:
JB(Vicious JellyBean) into ICS(Paranoid Android)
So then I tried an experiment. I figured maybe I can't dual boot JB into ICS. So I tried to dual boot JB into JB. It failed as well.

JB(Vicious JellyBean) Into JB(CM10)
I have never tried ICS to ICS yet. But I don't want to use ICS as a primary rom. So are you guys working to fix this with an update??? Or do u have an answer to fix this now???
I really want to buy the Pro but I don't think that will solve the issues. =\

Universal Adrenaline Shot

Has anyone tried this tweak, called Universal Adrenaline Shot 14-a?
I wasn't sure if it would work with all the ROMs or maybe just some?
If it would work for some ROMs then maybe we could compile a list and post this tweak for all to use.

Third. It's surprisingly table, smooth, and snappy. It's only going to get better from here as begins to add in customizations. It's more reliable than most ICS roms out there right now. Do yourself a favor, you won't regret it.
CM10 will not come officially from the CyanognenMod team. I'm sure someone will port it over however. Like stated, Albinoman has an AOSP port but, no, this is not CM based. I'm itchin for a CM10 port too, and Will probably remain on CM9 until then. Albinoman and Evervolv have done some great work getting JB stable, so we have them to thank for where we are at right now with jelly bean!
Here's my latest CM10 build for the Inc. https://www.dropbox.com/s/jvm51pa5k5fbaze/cm-10-20120827-UNOFFICIAL-inc-EV-AV.zip Everything should be working, but the camcorder of course.
As mentioned earlier, some things have been removed, some because /system is so small, others because I have no use for them.

Great, I have that too. Looks like yesterday's build introduced new problems, horray. This one a is a few days older, but google now and voice search work. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ffq7l5nrz76neie/cm-10-20120821-UNOFFICIAL-inc-stable.zip
How does this build compare to albinoman's? I love jelly bean but miss some of the Cyanogenmod features. If this is a solid CM10 ROM, I would love it! Is it stable enough to be used as a daily?
As I said, everything works, but the camcorder (to my knowledge), at least on the latest build marked stable. Yesterday's build, while "stable", kills google voice, so I'll have to see if I can figure that out sometime.

Don't use BT, so couldn't tell you. Auto brightness doesn't appear to, and hasn't really worked since GB, but you can change both it and the volume just fine, if that's what you're asking?

I don't use google voice to text, but EV has this commit to fix it http://review.evervolv.com/#/c/3004/ and I don't use their repo for libcore and CM doesn't have that commit, so it should work. Only way would be to test. The only force closes I have are on last nights build with google voice and I'm 99% sure the build that's running now fixed that.

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm definitely checking this out when I wake up, downloaded and ready to go! But just curious, also yes that is toro ported and works just fine.
Edit: Fantastic ROM, has done stuff I've wanted for months.. and that's where it ends. I honestly will not use this ROM until it changes base. AOKP is the worst, that's my opinion but you got yourself a fantastic ROM here. If these apps and various other apks aren't framework dependent then I'll use some in a different ROM.
Again amazing ROM, you have done what I've been trying to do for months and namely the walkman widget is one. I hope you change the base.

EDIT: The lag fixed itself, I dont know what happened. That is fine. Only problem is It wont reboot after first successful boot. It probably is Android Tweaker Pro. It is a great app, but also caused my stock rom to randomly reboot.

To answer a few of your questions. (Im updating thread now to)
1. I do plan on updating to 4.2 just need to update the code a bit and wait for the lockscreen to get ported.
2. Yes its based on AOKP 4.1.2
3. My rom is different because im going to take the time to keep it updated with anything new and im always constantly working on new ports to add to it. Its also more featureful, and its going to support toro and toroplus as soon as i get 4.2 working.
4. WHY YOU HATE AOKP SO MUCH? JK im using any base that i find most stable, im pretty sure im going to switch it for the 4.2 update since AOKP is constantly releasing updates for it and it will be hard to keep up with it.
5. Lag? I really have not noticed any lag besides the Xperia live wallpaper, thats sony's fault for not optimizing the app properly.
This ROM is running great. Loaded lean kernels latest stable 4.8 and all is good. A nice break from AOSP.

Oh, I've never heard of this then lol
The AOKP hate, its opinion but on both devices I've owned they been just so horrible and cheesy.. I don't like that swag button. The features are lacking. Honestly I'm on a stable base of 4.2.2, using Orca. The features are just amazing. I'm guessing because I tried the apks is that a lot of this framework doesn't really work for 4.2.2? I mean this is basically an Xperia ROM. I'm really impressed, I'm really hoping we can eventually get an actual port but I doubt it.
Secretly "I want a W8 port" love the style they use. Call me whacky lol.. But this is awesome you've made a breakthrough, or well your the only person who technically cares to do something like this. So I appreciate it this a lot man.
Edit: 4.1 doesn't bother me, we basically miss out on the status bar features. Just the base.

Just a quick note of congratulations and thanks, +Hyperrunner. I've been with Android since the first G1s were shipped, and this port reminds me of all the really inventive, well-done ports that we saw for the G1 back when other devices and models began to appear. I've been waiting for a really cool port to put on the GNex (which has had excellent but slightly bland firmware as stock from the beginning), and this Xperia port of yours really hits the spot. I think the AOKP base was a great choice. If it plays well with Linux Deploy and continues to be stable, this will become my primary ROM. Thanks a bunch, you deserve donations for your contribution to the Android community!
Thank you this ROM is pretty sweet love the look. Nice to have something other than stock for once

You say there is Bravia Engine, is it just not a setting and always on? If that is the case, awesome.
Yes, bravia engine is always on its more of a configuration then an app. Its always one and it helps display pictures better.
