Means that i can flash all customs roms without any hack?
Br Tom
I'm new in this Forum an i have unlock my bootloader today with this tool.
What steps should I run now, so I get root on the device?
I guess I didn`t need to downgrade etc. ?
I thought that Sensation was locked, not DHD.
I may be wrong has you're not the first one to say that.
But I kept my DHD because the sensation was locked.
Anyway, go in dev section and follow the tuto you will find.
Don't know what you mean by "unlocked" so check which of the first step are ok (based on the tuto) and continue from there.
At each step they provide tips to check that the step is ok.
Sorry I can't be more precise, I've done it a long time ago...
Hello,
I have unlocked the bootloader using HTCDev.
I thought that I could uninstall some system apps, but I was wrong.
So it's pretty useless to keep this situation.
A few questions:
1. can I use this guide: ????
http://www.desirez.strawmetal.com/p/downgrading-from-gingerbread-to-froyo.html
2. or should I use this guide instead: ????
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453066
I have software version 2.42.405.2 Android 2.3.3 HTC Sense 2.1
Can I go back to stock rom after doing all this?
Last question: Can I use a clean, fast rom and install HTC IME (the apk from system/apps) to use that with the new rom if it is not HTC based?
So far so good, TIA
Jodelol
You can use the second one. Tip while the guide help helps you to be able to root and flash roms with htc dev unlock, you will need to be near a computer to flash anything. With xda unlock andd root you can flash to your hearts content without a pc. So read the part where you have to relock your bootloader after which you could follow the first link you mentioned.
Thank you so much.
Correct me if I'm wrong:
S-OFF is possible! We can relock the bootloader to allow a downgrade
Go to FASTBOOT USB mode (where you got the unlock token code, and unlocked the bootloader)
Code:
fastboot oem lock
That's only the first the step, so after that I can follow your guide?
Great
Thank you Strawmetal.
All done and happy rooting for me now!
Ok I am new to XDA, I have and HTC Desire HD on Gingerbread 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0 it was originally on the telus nework but was unlocked before we bought it, I have very basic knowledge ... a lot of work on my Samsung Tab 10.1 and Samsung Infuse ... both have been very customized, This HTC is the worst thing i have attempted ... I have run just about every program out there, now im trying to downgrade the bootloader (Yes, its unlocked) all I get are errors when trying to downgrade .... I live with a "developer"(he's a tool) he says I need s-off to be able to load roms (I like NIGHTLY builds had a lot of luck with them) and when i attempt to put a new rom on it all installs normally but then it never leaves the HTC Screen it will sit there for hours with nothing .... I have just about every htc dev tool i have found I made sure to read every result on google for this issue and nothing .... any questions just let me know Im always around Internet ... any help would be appreciated greatly.... up until this phone this forum has given me everything I need to know you guys are amazing,
Sam
If your boot loader is unlocked you can flash custom ROMs; you will just need to fastboot flash the ROM zip's boot.img each time. To do that read my signature. You don't need S-Off to flash ROMs. You can't run RUUs when your bootloader is unlocked. AAHK is retired, so S-Off must be done manually now.

Any help me? So sad
All fairly easy to find.
1: flash a custom recovery and install the superuser.zip
2: you need a unlock code (carrier) or s-off
3: sunshine.....No other way at all !
And don't bump this thread every 30 minutes, first its not allowed and second not necessary. Read up in the many provided guides in the general section. Seems to me you didn't do any homework at all !
Cheers.
Hey gents , I've had a few phones and so far all have been rootable.
I have T-Mobile HTC M9 Android 6.0 Sense 7.0, software number 3.39.531.7, kernel [email protected] #1 , BUILD # 3.39.531.7 CL690290 release keys , Android security patch level 2016-01-01
My observations so far from most posts here and other places , it goes
unlock bootloader from htcdev.com DONE.
downloaded latest supersu and TWRC . followed directions, install TWRC , then I see the S = ON ,
most posts says you need ROOT to install SU and you need S=OFF to do it . and it seems to be a what came first the chicken or the egg situation to me.
tried the sunshine app to turn OFF the S , and it says I need ROOT for that . is rooting this phone still possible ?
EDIT: DID IT, LOOKS LIKE THE BOOTLOADER UNLOCK DID NOT TAKE OR I KILLED IT DURING A RESET ?
ANYWAYS FINALLY ROOTED THIS PHONE.
It sounds like you want:
- an unlocked bootloader
- a custom recovery
- root access
- S-OFF
In order to achieve all that, you basically start from the top of the list and work your way down. Unlock your bootloader from HTCdev, then install TWRP (use a 3.x.x.x version for Android 6 firmware), the flash SuperSU, then run Sunshine to achieve S-OFF.
If root is what you're looking for, skip the whole Sunshine/S-OFF piece. S-OFF is not necessary for custom ROMs or most common tweaking.
To unlock bootloader follow HTCdev website.
Then head to Twrp forum and read the FAQ, that will answer 99% of problems.
Good luck!
